INSANE SOLAR PANEL INSTALL

This week we have our friends Bruce & Phil over to help install our new solar panels. The idea with this van was to put the air conditioning unit on the roof, then fill the remaining space with solar. How much solar do you think we managed to fit?
Our family have been roaming around the UK, Europe and US since 2007. We set off on each trip with only a rough destination in mind, allowing the roads we take and places we stop to evolve as we meet new friends along the way.
If you have found us and enjoy our stories or have tips and recommendations then please get in touch as we'd love to hear from you.
Full details of our camping, motorhome & filming gear can be found here : www.roamingradfords.com/our-g...

    how where the new panels wired in ? as i thought you have to match panels or have i got that wrong.. how about the batteries.. I'm thinking of upgrading solar.. and also adding in a pair of lithium batteries.. but i understand that the vehicle battery is still lead acid as they can give better high current for short time.. rather than lithium that gives moderate current for a longer time. then there's what hardware needs to be swapped in order that the alternator can still charge both types of batteries.. Any pointers please..

    Hi Steve. I went to look at a new motorhome on Sunday, I asked the sales chap about installing upgrades such as solar myself as I've converted a van before ( same van as your e dispatch but engine) , and he told me that as soon as I so much as drill a hole anywhere in the motorhome then I would instantly void the warranty!? He told me that all mods would have to be done through them. Have you any experience with this ? Cheers. Marcus, South Wales!

  • @RoamingRadfords

    @RoamingRadfords

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey Marcus. I can understand that drilling a hole in the roof would void your water ingress warranty in that area, however if they are saying you can’t touch anything or it’ll void your whole warranty if anyone but them does any upgrades on the van, I’d look for an alternative dealer that doesn’t lock you into to having to buy any future upgrades from them at whatever cost they decide to charge you.
