Friends it's not that the food is bad that made you sick, it's natural and expected that you will get sick because your stomach is not used to it. Most foreigners are told and warned about it, they call it "La venganza de Moctezuma" which translates to "The Revenge of Moctezuma". This is folklore you can look up online and basically means you will end up on the toilet for a couple days following your food splurge! Totally normal, and after you had it once you're all clear for future adventures. Greetings from the U.S.

I have my suspiction about the basket tacos (tacos de canasta) I ate twice there and both times I got sick. If you want good basket tacos go with the vendors on bicycles.
I'm almost 100% sure the tacos where good. It's just the Mexican food is so intense with chillies and seasonings that forenors digestive system is not used to. Happens often
@isabelleandflo

Exactly. The tacos weren't bad, they are just not used to such rich spices and ingredients that it upset his tummy. It does happen often even for us Mexicans that often eat authentic Mexican food on a daily.

@@isabelleandflo it's really simple. The bacteria in your digestive system isn't used to the mostly organic foods sold in Mexico. If you eat a lot, you will get sick because to put it simply, your stomach can't handle it.

Happens to everyone visiting from out of town. Your body is not used to it. Happens to me when visiting family too. One way to avoid it is to keep it very light. Your body can handle it fine in small amounts. After a week of this you should be ok.

The Mexican food is incredible.

"Mexican lagsaña" is kind of fun cause de sauce of pizza and lassagna is tomatoe base and the tomatoe is native of Mexico so actually pizza and lassagna is the European version of the original mexican dish (tlayuda and enchiladas)
@ManuelMontoyaRdz

Exactly, many European dishes came from Mexican cuisine: tomates and chocolate.
@JorgePerez-ts4kk

10:45 "Venganza de Moctezuma" never better explained!

Your body is not used to the spices and chillies. As Mexicans we use alot of that in our food also alot of grease and different types of sauces. What they are eating in a glass is called Esquite. You had to stir it a little more to mix all the ingredients. You only ate mayonnaise.
Es muy bonito su restaurante
The white sauce is Mexican crema something like sour cream and the white cheese is queso fresco with is fresh crumbling cheese
The great thing about Mexicos food is that we have taken everything the world has brought to us and made it our own. Never afraid to mix and match wildly different flavors to see what we like, and we have very little care for what the rest of the world frowns upon. If it's good and we like we are going to take it for our own. While doing our best to preserve and grow our tradition and culture somehow.
That thing you call white sauce is sour cream my friend

Hi guys i really love to see people from other countries visiting my country Mexico and enjoy the real Mexican food..now I believe that it could be the water that make him seek that happens a lot to people that are not used to it. But it could be one of the tacos too. but i don't think is the case.. blessings to everyone
Of course, if you'd traveled to Tijuana to try your first taco, you would have gotten a taco considerably larger but, in addition, a good dollop of creamy avocado pure on top accompanied by sliced cucumbers and whole radishes! There, they cut the meat off the "trompo" directly into the tortilla.
I'm sorry you got sick amigo, it happens to all of us! I'm glad it didn't discouraged you from trying new things!! 😉

Hi Isabel, I think you would probably like what I call a regular tamale. A traditional family style that we make. A Pork tamale made with pork, chili powder (red sauce) wrapped in corn husk not banana leaves. The banana leaf has a very strong taste (that I do not like). We are not from Mexico, but that is the way we make our tamales. No, cheese, no corn bits, no raisons, no anything except for the meat, red chili and corn husk and of course the masa. :)
Im glad you liked the lengua cow toungue and yes its really good but kinda expensive
