I own a 2010, has 650,000k on it and still running strong. Extremely cheap to maintain as well. Great comfortable ride!

As a non American I always thought these were everywhere in the US and that anyone riding in these was the richest of the rich. Thanks to movies and political/law tv shows

Mostly people who were established in life and older bought these and garage them until grocery runs of doctors ✅ ups. Retired and these barely are driven so it's easy to find with low miles. Mines has 87k and I got it 5yrs ago with 78k and is 20yrs Essential. It's my 3rd TC and I gained respect cause my belated brother (retired cop) had a new white/blue top 92 but drove a crown Vic while on duty. They're earlier ones ran the 4.6 modular with 2 separate 4 plug but the 03 basically got the interceptor treatment from the P71 police package so it might not be fast as the Cobra but it's a reliable tank as long as the fluids are tended to. My bro was smart going for the tow car as his personal car especially when he explained it's a dressed up cop car 😊 So mines is the 1st model yr of the last run of the full frame cars offered from FORD. Also have the 95 Fleetwood too which was Cadillacs last full frame v8 car.

​@@Jimster481the older Cadillacs before the Northstar engine almost anyone who's gotten a modern Cadillac with a Northstar engine will say it was always having problems. Town car basically kept the same engine almost every year it was reliable and never changed even when something goes wrong it's not difficult to replace time consuming sure but you can do it yourself if you have the free time and patience.

Had 6-7 of those (Crown Vic's, Grand Marquis and Town Cars), and buying a 2011 Executive L next year for my business. Super reliable, inexpensive to fix, will run forever with good maintenance.

My step-papaw had a blue 2003 Lincoln Towncar Executive. One of the many cars I learned to drive in and also grew up in when I stayed with him. I remember how clean he kept it and how comfy it was for me and my brothers in the back seat. Drove like a boat. My father said town cars were for old people "who like their suspension how they like their stool... soft" Miss you Papaw David

Here is my family story. When my family came to California from Korea in 2002, my dad bought a used 98 lincoln continental from an old lady. When we moved from Cali to Pennsylvania visiting multiple states and sight seeing all the famous cities like Vegas and National parks on the way and my dad drove the car all the way, up to Niagara, and we moved a year later again to Georgia, but not before driving all the way down to Florida Keys first. By 2016, the car had 390k miles on it and was still running decently until my brother got old enough to drive and rear ended someone while texting. Ever since then, the car started having issues and we had to let it go. My dad was really attached to the car and was very fond of it. Still hasn’t forgotten! I have been in many American, Asian, German luxury vehicles, but nothing ever came close to both ride quality and comfort. Especially the seats. Plush, comfortable, spacious yet enveloping. I would instantly fall asleep and not wake up for hours during the long drives across US. He drives a Porsche cayenne and it is a great car, but he wants to retire now and travel the country and the world with my mom in a very specific vehicle. I know he sacrificed a lot, is still working his ass off to provide, be the best husband and father, and I am grateful for the memories and the experience not many people have. It is my dream to gift him a Lincoln Navigator Black Label and travel the country once more. But first, I need to save up a little, before he retires in a year or two 😅

@@Joe-qd7kd eh, doesn't mean much no offense. Yours is turbo and high stress. The 4.6 is natural aspiration and low stress. Two entirely different concepts. If I turbo or supercharge the 4.6 it's gonna make 150+ extra HP when tuned right :)

Fomoco’s Panther platform is one of the best automotive designs in history. Total workhorses.

Town Car, Grand Marque, Crown Victoria, last great full size sedans. Wish these guys were still in showrooms. Owned 3 Crown Vics and say what you want about Ford but the Crown Vic doesn't fail on you. Mine were ex police vehicles that were already put through the wringer and then I put them through the wringer myself and they just kept chugging on.

Even an old 1980's Town Car is a great luxury car. I had an '84, and really enjoyed driving it, especially on long road trips, and it got 22 mpg on the highway. Even as big as it was, our 3 kids out grew the back seat, so we sold it and bought a mini-van. The teenager who bought it keeps it looking and running like new. He really enjoys the car also.

1998 Mercury Villager mini van. We gave it to a friend a few years ago, and it is still running. It has 3 rows of seats, and that stopped the fights between the kids on trips.

The back seats on these are the most comfortable thing I’ve ever sat on, it’s incredible

I was thinking the Grand Marquis but, same thing lol. Honestly I have to agree, my current job grants me access to all sorts of vehicles and these are surprisingly luxurious. They are very comfortable cars.

Panther platform Towncars, Grand Marquis and Crown Victorias will literally run forever.

03 was the best year for them too, I have an 03 Town Car that I just did a trans fluid change on. over 365,000 miles and the trans pan came off for the first time yesterday! The little yellow indicator plug was still In there and the trans fluid filter was dated for 2002 when It was built! This thing Is a tank and has very few issues In It's lifespan. Best 1,800 ever spent easilly. I've even T boned a chevy tahoe once In It and It drove off without even a cracked headlight, just a messed up grille and bumper. Buy one while you still can and DON'T modify It! Mint condition townies are getting rarer and rarer and these things are becoming real classics! Anything 03-11 will be one of your finest purchases ever. Hands down.

I've had over 12 cars in my life. I had a 1978 lincoln mark. Till this very day, it was the best and smoothest riding car I ever owned. I've had Cadillacs, buicks, and other lincolns. That 78 mark beat them all!

I knew it was a Town Car right away...

I knew what it was by the steering wheel and the wand shifter. When you mentioned the back seat, I knew you were referring to the L model. I've been wanting to get one for months now. Same platform as the Crown Vic and the Grand Marquis. I've owned a few Panther cars. They are incredible.

Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car are all the same car just different levels of luxury.

I’m 26 and I still have my moms 2004 Lincoln Towncar!! It’s got 86000 miles and runs like melted butter!! ❤❤amusingly roomy and the suspension is amazing!!and it’ll still make a cross country trip easily without any hiccups !!

My grandma has one. She's had it since like 2002. Everything still works perfectly. She had a coil pack go out and I think she had a short or her fuel pump had an issue because she drives so infrequently.

That body style was nice when it first came out .😊

I have a 1981 Lincoln Continental and a 2003 Navigator, and I must say the luxury for the money is massive! Reliable with the big V8 engines, nice sound proofing, and the 1981 Lincoln has a comfort standard you will never forget when you sit in the bench couches and float over the bumps like it's nothing🥰

That’s a good story! I had a 1981 Ford LTD that used to drive and ride just like a cloud, beautiful, with a 302 motor in it, and lots of space to easily work on the motor. Believe it or not your 1981 Lincoln and my 1981 LTD were both “Panther Platform”

The car in the video is at least a 2006, as the gauge cluster has a tachometer. Heated seats were available all the way until the model was dropped. The 2001 however, is the first year for the fabled “L” editions. Wonderful machines, they are!

I just know after 2001 heated seats were standard. Winters are cold where I live and it would be nice. Oh well. Life’s rough. Get a helmet.

I lived in NY and took Gypsy cabs all the time until as a born and raised NY during the 80's up until 2013 when i finally moved permanently every time i see a Lincoln Town car it bring back many good memories of the city that never sleeps

The panther platform is the most reliable vehicle on the road

I am an mn12 fan boy and have owned many 94-97 thunderbirds over the years. Wouldn't think twice about a panther. Gotta love the 4.6l v8.

I had a Lincoln MKS fully loaded the comfort was amazing it even had massage seats

The 4.6, almost no performance, low economy, buy god damn it runs forever. One of the greater boat anchors ever created.

Didn’t even need to see anything past the first frame to know that’s a Panther platform.

My grandpa had one, and i remember trying to sell it for like 6k and having trouble selling it even at that price. They are comfortable cars, but tough on gas and the AC always broke in it

My dad always had a crown Vic or grand marquis in the late 80’s though the 2000’s. He loved these cars. He probably owned 4 or 5 in that timeframe.

We had an 03 Towncar for years and I kept up with it. Wife didn’t want it anymore but I pushed off selling it for a couple more years until a couple months ago. I loved that car for sure

I have one. Great car but what do you mean underrated? This whole platform was used everywhere. From cop car to taxis and the Town Car was a popular luxury rental / airport limo. Not to mention their popularity in the middle east

Air suspension hardly blew out, and the air suspension is extremely easy to fix, parts are like a $100 and it requires very few tools

You may say crown vic… But when he removed his hand to get out of the vehicle, you can see there is a lincon emblem.

Lol the Lincoln town car. You got me on that. I was figuring you would say Hyundai or something like that. I would never thought you would let me know how good the cab that's picking me up in an hour is.

I feel like the XG350 was supposed to emulate the town car a little, although I have only seen them in photographs

I had 2 of them with almost 400k miles. Love Lincoln. I wish they keep making them.

I love a Lincoln! My first vehicle was a 1985 Lincoln Town Car the Cartier and it was awesome I will always miss it.

The top handle on the inside door panel gave it away. Lincoln/Ford all day lol

I concur whether you buy Grand Marquis the Town car or the Crown Victoria. Take care of them and they will last a looooooooong time.

These and the Buick Park Avenue with the 3.8l from the late 90s/early00s belong to a class of extremely underrated and incredibly nice reliable sedans that people overlook because of their 'grandparents car' image. While people are fighting to overpay for toyotas and hondas you can get a literal luxury car from the same era for cheaper.

I love my 2004 Red Lincoln Ultimate Town Car. It has been a good car. The only issues I've had is a new alternator and that the previous owner tried to do a sparkplug job and I had to deal with the consequences. Blowing a sparkplug is never a good feeling... Still, only 500 bucks for some repairs and it's been flawless since then. My mechanic is a friend and took pictures for me. The previous owner had obviously been doing his own maintenance and barely knew what he was doing. Thankfully, parts for the Panther Platform Cars are very very common and he had the parts in the shop. Most of the things he replaced, I wasn't charged for. He just wanted to take pictures for his buddy that races Crown Vics. I've been taking my vehicles to this mechanic for years and he's always done right be me. Good ones are hard to come by. The 4.6L is a good engine, but it isn't perfect. They have some issues that have needed to be resolved. That being said; they are known issues and are nowhere near as expensive as other platforms to fix. Also, they are relatively easy to work on for basic maintenance. Just do not do what my car's previous owner did and guess. Use instructions and you will do just fine. Replacing an alternator for example is just $100ish and about 10 minutes of work. Super easy!

As soon as I saw the clock on the dash, I knew it was a Lincoln Towncar. Pepsi-Cola executives were given Towncars to drive, and my father loved it. I can honestly say these were the best driving cars... They actually floated across the road.

No surprise the panther platform is unmistakable.

These things are awesome. The pinnacle of Lincoln, can be had for dirt cheap, and they run for absolutely ever.

I recently picked up a 13 Ford Edge limited. 3.5L awd, panoramic sunroof, all the bells and whistles, in way better condition than expected, 208k miles, $2200! I've got some big plans for it 😏

What year is it and what model I always wanted one of these cuz they r so comfy. I live in the Bronx NY and the cabs used to be these and I would feel like I was on clouds and it’s so nice a quiet. I wish they would come back out with cars like these

The Lincoln Town Car is a great car and one of the best used luxury cars money can buy. This right here is a what a true luxury car is. It's more luxurious than any Lexus.

I love these cars so much. I bought a 2001 cartier as my first car, and since then I've bought two more 90's ones. Got all 3 of them for less thank $10k total, and they're all in really good condition with low mileage. Seriously slept on cars these days, they ride like a dream and have never left me stranded in almost a decade of driving them.

The clock on the dash gave it away. Lincolns always had a non-digital clock.

One of the best real American cars made during its run. Neither a hot rod nor an over stuffed luxury lounge of great expense. Too bad the Panther platform reached the end of the road. Now if we can keep Cletus from buying up all the good ones that are left and destroying them at his freedom factory crashing events.

Its the same basic design that BMW had. That little lever is completely hidden when the when the hood is fully shut, but pops out when you pull the release inside the car.

As Chris said, it's hidden normally. Since he was filming a video he pre-popped the hood from inside the car as normal before he started filming so he could just hop out and pull the secondary release you saw sticking out. Gotta save time where you can when you're trying to squeeze your whole video into 60 seconds.
