I have had this crazy DREAM of doing this FOREVER because I loathe stainless steel, and JUST THIS WEEKEND told my hubby I want to try to paint the dishwasher and fridge the same color as the cabinets then painting the handles the same color as the cabinet hardware. I'm going to be watching this episode 1000 times!!! YOU ROCK!!!!

No. Never, ever. But I am impressed that your fridge lasted 18 years. I remember when black fridges were all the rage. I didn’t realize they were returning. But glad you were brave for those who would like to attempt it!

Decades ago there was a sit-com called "Grace Under Fire". Every couple of weeks the main character, Grace, would be painting her fridge a different colour. She was working a dead end job living on the economic edge and trying to keep her kids fed. It was so hilarious. As a woman living with very, very, very limited means as I tried to finish my education, I felt like I had some sort of cosmic permission to make dumb decisions like painting my fridge! I used automotive paint. It was wonderful. My candy apple red fridge gave me great joy, so I painted the washing machine!

“What’s the worst that could happen?” My mantra for the past 2 months renovating and updating my entire house! 😂

I once saw somebody use peel & stick wallpaper on a fridge, and that turned out great! I'm not sure I would dare, but you are much braver than I! Also, your husband is such a sweetheart. You can really see how much he loves you and how much faith he has in you. If I painted my fridge, the first thing my husband would say is "Which of your youtubers did it? 😂

When I first got married I covered the rusty rental refrigerator (I had permission from landlord) in flowered contact paper. Wish I had a picture to share. The refrigerator looked so much better.

In the UK, we have a paint called Frenchie. You can paint your fridges your washing machines your oven even your kettle and toaster and it’s brilliant.

NataLee, you can recreate the label in the ice door, find some brass colored card stock & use your Cricut to print it. Then, just slip it back into the clear pocket & everything should match! LOVE what you did to your refrigerator!

I would. My mother painted our fridge red. That was 67 years ago. It was a bad job but it started me on the "you can do this" journey.

​@@susanbee8574I don't like them either, but I like the matte copper/rose gold type look that I've seen on the high end ones. IF I can ever do a remodel, I'm doing that shade lol. Don't care if I have to paint it to get it there.

My daughter covered her fridge with a beautiful fabric. She glued it on with PVA glue and then sealed it with a clear varnish. It’s lasted for over 3 years and still looks amazing ❤

Fabric?! Thats interesting!! Im gonna help a friend of mine do contact paper with an appliance type sealer om top of it to try to give it that "sheen."

The black fridge makes your cabinets look even nicer. Good choice.

My Dad painted my Mom’s white refrigerator avocado green in the 70’s to match her new double oven and matching stove top. It was PERFECT!

One rainy day my children and step children were bored so I had them paint the fridge. We loved their creative expressions and enjoyed it for 10 years. A refrigerator is a large canvas!

Yes!!! I have heard of people painting their refrigerator! My parents had purchased an avocado green refrigerator in the mid 1970s. When they built their new house in 1980, they took their new refrigerator to an auto body shop to have it professionally painted a golden wheat color that coordinated with their new kitchen. It looked like they had bought a brand new refrigerator for their new house! The finish was super durable and It lasted a couple decades with no chipping and stayed looking gorgeous (well as gorgeous as a 1970s refrigerator could look) 😂

My inherited avocado green fridge, dishwasher (the one the hooked into the faucet and rolled away when finished) and range that my dad gave me just went out like 6 years ago lol!!!

I've learned so much about painting from your channel. #1, being patience. My dad always told me when I tried to rush a job,..."if you don't take the time to do it right the first time, when are you going to find the time to fix it?" Spend the time, and the $ the first time, so you don't have to spend more time and money another time. You do that well with all of your prep work, primer, etc. Thank you

The fridge is amazing! Why not use your Cricut to cut out new dispenser control panel? It might take some design time but we all know you could knock that out of the park! I love watching your videos and you inspire me to be bold! And what about finding a used high end fridge like Sub Zero and transform the outside and have exactly what you want? I’m a Floridian too! Maybe we will meet up at IKEA!

I loved seeing Garald and Lori in the video. Two wonderful people that I loved knowing back in NH. Natalie, you are so talented!

Nataliee, If you have any of that tape left over after you complete the hood range, consider framing the silver panel (for tbe ice box) with it. That should tie it all in. 💜 Lovely family. 💜💜 PS: If you find the tape to be too thick & competing with the handles, then try thinning it down by cutting the width of the tape in half

I've painted my oven once with Krylon spray paint for high temperature items. It lasted several years until we bought a new one. Never a scratch on it.

Hey Natalie, what if you use transfer vinyl gold paper on the panel for the water and ice. Then, print out the wording. Just an idea.

Very nice! My daughter painted her old refrigerator 3 yrs ago and it's still going strong. She used the same primer as you and Sherwin Williams cabinet paint because she had that on hand in caviar. She even painted her handles with gold spray paint and they don't have any chips or marks. Going strong.

For the control panels you should try your crecut machine to print a sticker on top of the existing bottons

I painted my freezer & it has held up great. It was white & in my garage. It started to rust, so I sanded it and rolled it black. Love it. You will like your fridge! Good luck!!!❤

Yes, I painted the side of my refrigerator because it was warehouse damaged (scratched). This was a number of years ago and there was little info. I decided to use automotive paint and luckily I found some that matched the original. It turned out ok. Nowadays with the more info and soecial supplies, things have a much better chance of turning out well. Your projects always turn out good.

I think you absolutely can fix that ice label panel. I had to replace my washer key and got a sticky replacement label circle. With something like a cricket or whatever they're called, or with just your ingenuity, you can get a black sticky and write the ice maker identifiers on it. It will be out of this world....OH! You can write them in gold!

I used contact paper on my avocado green fridge in the 80’s and I loved it!! Now I own a midmod home and would LOVE to have that avocado fridge back!! What’s old is new once more!

You are more powerful than you know! KICKIN Aaaa-pliance! Have followed long enough to know, YOU GOT THIS! I may have to cover my eyes (some times until the end), but you always nail it. Truly love your courage, and the results! Handled it like a pro! On that control panel, gold wasabi tape trim? Or car pinstripe in gold. I was going to suggest smoked clear cling knowing many would say but you can't read the control. Just snap a pic of the control panel before and post it inside the door for quick reference. Odds are 18 years of use you know the panel pretty well. LOVED THE encouraging/supportive HUBBY insert! AND congrats on the Studio 5 segment. They have always recognized top shelf quality in you! XO

Never thought this would be possible, but all things are possible if you believe; it looks great. I will keep the door handle change in mind; very creative.

Back a few years, auto paint shops used to paint refrigerators. There was a spray paint that was made for appliances too. You did a great job. It looks like a smooth finish. I hope it holds up.

Years and years ago when kitchen appliances only came in 2 colors, avocado and goldish yellow, I worked at a auto body repair shop and was pregnant the time. My job was to sand the appliances so they could be repainted to match the kitchen remodels people were doing. I can say this for sure, back then the paint was baked on and super tough to sand. I hope your paint job holds up over time. Refrigerators in black at the home improvement center here in S Texas run about 2500-3000.

Onet of my favorite videos thus far!! You and your hubby are the cutest! The fridge turned out amazing and I'm with you on that sourdough starter. I nursed and babied mine for a month and after 2 failed baked attempts, I threw my starter out. I will definitely be giving Wildgrain a try!

I absolutely love my botton freezer drawer next a drawer and double door. The drawer is used for so many things.

I painted an older, textured fridge 10 years ago with chalkboard paint. I didn't even prime it. It is just 2 of us, but the paint is still great! I painted the handles and they have worn, but it made it 10 extra years!
