Insane December bite (Ohio river) fishing submerged trees, Catch & Cook

Ойын-сауық

I found an insane bite fishing the Ohio river in December, it started off slow looking for catfish but then I started casting a black jig around some submerged trees next to a drop off that were holding a bunch of bait, I started to catch white bass and hybrids every cast and a new personal best hybrid on light tackle, so may fish were caught on this little black jig, it's my go to color for winter fishing the Ohio river. Black seems to work the best for overcast and cold winter days, hope you enjoy the video caught so many good fish could only fit a few of them in the video.

Hello again. STILL love watching your videos.. your #1,,, Spencer #2,, lol,,, Next time you get into a bunch of whites, fillet them out & put a good spicy, salty rub on them, place them in the fridge over night. Montreal Steak, or ConYeager 3 pepper blend will work,, along with some salt , brown sugar & cure. Next day, put them in a low temp smoker, say for an hour or two. DON'T dry them out. Cool 'em down & vacuum pack 'em. You'll have some awesome trail food for the next fishing season! I try to catch enough Erie whites, & white perch for at least a 10# batch of smoked fillets each year. BTW,,, i think the W bass & W perch are the best tasting. Cats come in at #3 or 4. keep 'em com'n!

I fish Craig's creek almost every weekend in the spring, summer and fall. The fishing there is great if you know the holes to fish in. I would rather fish there then any of the big lakes, But again you gotta know the holes. I've filleted many crappie under that very same shelter. Awesome to see someone else out there catching them in a familiar area. We love to crappie fish and jug for catfish but I been watching your videos to get tips on drift fishing for cats. Awesome work. Maybe we will meet there one day. Good luck

I fish farther downstream from you for these from the bank and eaten a lot of these too. I don't usually pan fry ones over 4lbs. The bigger ones are great in soups because the meat is a little firmer. I love targeting them spring and fall when they are more active. My favorite day fishing this year was right before a storm and the hybrids were voracious. The hybrids ate everything I threw and didn't stop fighting until I had them at the bank.

The state stocks them every year, whenever they have surplus fish from other lakes they stock the river. Great fish to catch and keep, Love the videos.
