Inovativ Scout 42 Review: My Favorite Production Cart

Фильм және анимация

Here are my two cents on the Inovativ Scout 42 EVO and some insight into my rationale. As a one-man band, this is easily one of my favorite pieces of kit.

Hey Robert! Awesome video! I just went down this production cart rabbit hole here on youtube and I just saw a comment of yours on Kevin Reyes video about the Voyager. There you said you had just ordered a new Voyager 36 after having the Scout 42 for a few years, and I believe you were excited to have the smaller size, would you consider making a video on that please? I would love to hear your updated opinion on this!

I know this video is super old but it came up and I was looking for carts and I know you always put out good stuff. I’m wondering about grip/stands when traveling. Do you just rent them when you get to your location, what do you travel with any smaller sized stuff?

cant believe you travel with so much gear alone. Do you carry on the FS7? wow man. if you ever have a project in DC please let me know. be a pleasure to PA or Grip for you.

I used one of these for the first time on a shoot. Really nice, way better than a sad AV cart.

I ended up going with an Inovatic Apollo40, I love the cart. One of my biggest complaints RIGHT NOW is that the sticks holder is not as sturdy as I'd like

Nice review man! I’m a 1st AC and work with a lot of heavier cams like Alexa SXTs and Sony F55s and several REDs. I’ve always used Magliners cause those things can take a beating in exterior shoots when you’ve gotta go over gravel and chunky terrain. Problem being I live in an apt and have no place to store one of those big boys. That’s what drew me to innovativ that I could store in my room even which is awesome. I know they’re expensive, but my question is based on what you’ve seen, think it can take a beating without falling apart or paying for it? If these things aren’t really rugged and durable like magliners I’m not sure if it’s worth the investment. Would love your thoughts and appreciate it!

I think they're pretty durable. Mine has seen plenty of use from baggage handlers, although I try refraining from flying with it anymore since the transport wheels usually take a beating. I usually get mine serviced every year or so (about $200) and they replace all the parts so its practically brand new. Inovativ uses great parts so I haven't had anything fall apart through normal use.

Hey friend! I'm wondering how you mounted your camera to the cart. So you have the Zacuto shoulder pad, then the VCT Zacuto baseplate. How did you mount that baseplate to the MAST or the baby pin?

I used the Horseshoe mount that Inovativ makes. It mounts onto the mast and you can put whatever plate on it. I recommend getting a Ronford Baker plate that Inovativ also makes so that your plate will be compatible.

Awesome. And with the Ronford Baker, do I have to get screws for that to attach the VCT Zacuto baseplate? Or does the Ronford Baker plate come with screws?
