As doctor passionate about skin care that delivers results and about well aging, I want to help you quickly and efficiently pick a skin care regime that works, by explaining the science behind skin and by sharing quick product reviews.
I am a big believer that creating a skincare routine that targets your specific concerns is not a matter of your budget. There are many great affordable brands out there: The Inkey List, Good Molecules, Geek & Gorgeous or pixi skincare to name a few of my favorites, and if you know how to combine them, you are well on your way to healthy and happy skin.
Healthy and happy skin does not mean "flawless" - whatever that might be. I have been struggling with acne, hyperpigmentation and postinflammatory erythema (PIH and PIE) for most of my adult life, and it took me a while to figure out that gentle is key. I went through a retinol damaged skin barrier, acne flare ups and sun damage until I finally reached my happy place: With Tretinoin, sunscreen and of course a red lipstick!

I just purchased a bottle of Neutrogena clear face oil free spf 30 do you think that its good enough sun ☀ protection for my face ? Because I dont want anymore little brown spots to show up ! TY Doctor Anne your the Best♡ 🤗🙏🎉

That depends on how much time you spend outdoors, how much you apply and how often you reapply. If you are outdoors all day, you should reapply a decent amount every two hours, meaning a standard bottle of SPF should last you around 2-3 weeks. If you don't spend the whole day outdoors, simply make sure you apply a good amount, half a teaspoon is what is recommended for the face and neck. Mesure it out, it is more than you think.

Do you think, in general, zinc oxide sunscreens are drying for mature, dry skin? I live in the US, but can order the modern filters. Also, do you think tinted, mineral sunscreen is better for melasma? I keep seeing mixed opinions among dermatologists on this. Thank you, I so enjoy your informative videos!

It depends on the formulation, but in general they are more drying, yes. And the myth that mineral filters are better for melasma is just that, a myth. Both types of filters work the same way and produce a little bit of heat, but not enough to worsen your melasma.

@@DoctorAnne thank you! I will continue to order the modern filters when I can. They really do feel much better, so good to know they are as effective.
