Inline skating 5 important points for cross over technique (Pascal Briand Vlog 03)

This little Vlog video is about crossover technique for inline speed skating. People ask me a lot about the way i cross. So here i few tips about it. My favorite point is probably the last one: find the shortest pathway for your skate.
I'm addict to good technique. If you have any question you can always as me in the comments. i will do my best to answer you.

    Awesome tips I will try. I had a problem of turning to fast so now I know I have to lean less to make a bigger turn. Thanks!

    thanks for this video! I had never thought about returning the right foot close to the left, and trying to keep the return path as short as possible. I am still quite new to skating on a track or indoors, so my crossover technique needs a lot of work!

    Great video, very helpful. What helps me a lot is to emphasize that it is important to rather push your inside foot underneath your outside foot rather than pull my outside foot over my inside foot.

    Very much like your series of technique tips, they are very helpful. One request: Could you do a video on how to make quick stops and sharp turns, the kind skaters use at the end of a race or when quickly slowing down? Thanks.

    Hi hoon...that 's true , i need to do a video about the arms...good topics that i forgot... i will try to find some time for this^^ thanks. basically, the arm movement in corner should not be too big otherwise it can make the shoulder turn (and then the hip). The rotation is a lot in the shoulder and little in the elbow. Skater who take arms out a lot use it to hidde some balance problem. i will give my best to do this...if nothing come please message me again^^

    thx these were nice tips, I'm just not very sure about the one of putting the right skate near the left one when crossing, it's not losing some push?

  • @ThePascalbriand

    @ThePascalbriand

    7 жыл бұрын

    yes you are right ...you are loosing a bit of a push at this moment...but actually it s not a big deal at a medium speed. So for endurance speed that is what i recommand. When it's time to go full speed the right skate go more to the inside... Also i tell this cause it's a good habit to take to create the right timing between the 2 legs. A video about timing will come later. Actually, if you look at my 2nd vlog about Seagull frame...when i cross i put the right skate little inside (it look like this) but it s cause i already push with the left.... very point from you to notice this...

    thx for your answer, very well explained , technique can vary in different speeds, I saw skaters doing this and I thought it was a mistake, one can always learn new things ;-). Keep going with your vlog is nice to see a pro doing this, I think this kind of things help our sport.

    What about the importance of practising cross over steps to the opposite direction as well? I'm regulary dividing my trainings 50/50% crossover steping from left to the right and thereafter from right to the left direction too. That's how I'm bringing myself both-sided on the asphalt rink. It makes me more determined.

  • @ThePascalbriand

    Szilárd Tóth its nice to do both and it help at some point but... the level of precision you need on the left side is extreme... so it always do 99 % to master this one... the right one side is quite rare :-) In racing around least. If you do other specialities then sure both is amazing

    Bravo!

    Very nice videos. Though I dont understand what do you mean by first tip: Put your hip inside. Also I would like to ask about the second: Put your body weight on the left leg. Do you mean you don't transfer body weight to the right leg ? And one more question: You don't push under the right leg with the left leg?

  • @ThePascalbriand

    @ThePascalbriand

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hi Julio, thanks for your question here that will benefit to everybody. put your hip Inside:it mean that during a corner (left for exemple) you have to try to bring as much as possible your hip tothe left...as much as possible to the Inside of the corner. It help to fight against the forces that bring you outside. as much as possible bring your hip to the left...over your left skate at minimum and if possible even more to the left. it will help you to save lot of energy. put your body weight on the left leg: yes i kind of mean dont transfer body weight to the right leg....it gonna happen a bit but try to spend more time on your left leg during the cross...and even when you are on the right leg, then keep bodyweight Inside...you will stay in balance cause centri-force will keep you up. last question, i'm not sure i understand it good^^ : with the left leg , you need to push in a down direction...and to the side... as soon as your left leg touch the group...1st create pressure...then keep the pressure during a down/side push (even Under the right leg: if it swhat you mean)...you don't need to push to far with the left leg as pressure will kind of disapear pretty fast..... and a push without pressure if not really a great push^^
