I’ve been running copper BB’s believe it or not. No insert in the tire and I fill the tire about halfway or so. When you’re crawling, you’re moving so slow it’s really not rotational mass. But because the weight doesn’t move, it really pushes down on the tire and it gives you really good grip. I just have to find a way to add more sidewall stability to the tire, but so far it’s working awesome! It’s fun messing around with different things to see what works best. I just ordered plastic bb’s and I’m going to fill the entire tire to see how that works. That should be interesting. Depending on how soft or firm you want the tire, it’s just a matter of adding or taking away bb’s. I could also mix the metal BB’s with the plastic bb’s. You should do a video on it. It’s been really interesting so far. Just think of the possibilities, ceramic and glass or just a couple of examples,, it’s almost endless what they can make a bb out of. And I’m sure each will have its own unique properties and performance. Who knows!! That’s what makes all of this so much fun.

Picked up the greens and found that cutting out every other middle "brace" really helped soften them up while still providing the stiffer inner sidewall support. Could probably cut out every other outer brace as well for even softer performance.

Awesome video! Definitely have to get a set of yellows, I’ll compare them to my flubs, may be a good extra set for spare tires. I think the harder inserts may shine with brass wheels like you said but also oversized tires at the top of their range 64mm or so.

I feel like testing these in a tyre with a softer compound or sidewall like an LGRP may give you a better demonstration of the benefits and differences between the two. The compound and sidewall strength of those injora tyres are quite hard in comparison to a lot of other tyres on the market despite the nice soft compound of the tread. Like always thanks for the review. 👍🏻

like tires, I think the inserts need to be broken in too. roll them on a table for a while. I did this to my tires and foams separately and together. I think injora is heading in the right direction... though if they started making low profile tires they'd start taking more of the market at the same price point as ppl would realize, oh, i don't need to spend extra for inserts.

Just mounted one yellow ring in a Swamp King and immediately took it out again. Sidewall support yes but makes whole tire MUCH stiffer than before and also ruins my venting, i have all my rims and metal rings drilled from the inside and that silicone over the metal ring seals everything so there is no more venting. Don't want to drill holes in the tires. I could start making holes into those silicone rings and maybe cut some parts out to make them softer but not sure i want to start with that work maybe put them out and in several times until i find something useable.

I'm not sure why people even use foam on 1/24 scale. Unless it's some kinda heavy..... none of my 1/24 crawlers need foam. It's more realistic without the foam. Look at real life crawlers and tell me what their tires look like under load. They are SUPER squishy(I think around 10lbs of pressure). The only reason I can see needing foam is if you have an air filled tire and you want to keep the bounce from the tire down.
