Many people are worried about what it takes to edit an infrared image but in this video I am going to show you that editing infrared images is rather quite easy. In this case we will be using Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.

This is a way better tutorial than your previous one, good job! I like that we use different ways of editing infrared pictures.

Anytime!
Im not sure if you still check this video but I just got an IR camera and followed all these steps. After I import the new dng profile to Lightroom, when I set the white balance using a cloud, my trees come out white instead of vivid blue like yours. I’m using a converted 720nm camera. Any ideas what’s going on?

not sure :(
With the latest LR you can setup LUT in a manner that you dont need to the channel swap. Bit more setup at first but after that processing is as easy as just selecting a profile. No photoshop needed.

I shall research that!

I checked out the video! The beginning is kind of the same, creating a DNG profile and all that - but you're right, afterwards the processing is easier - I still like the other way (mainly cuz I can tweak the colors as much as I want with the color mixer maybe I am just old school like that haha.
Hi I finally decided to start doing IR photography because i saw your works and follow your videos. But my DNG profile editor and converted DCP profile is apparently not a valid profile. I think maybe its been a long time but is it possible to see a more updated vers of this video? Thanks!

I will take a look into it, but Adobe changed alot of things sadly
I've watched half of this and it's looking like it's going to be really useful like your previous one. I've got a question which I can't find the answer to, so I'm hoping you can help, what difference does it make if you set WB with the filter on? I've got some trial images taken with 2 WBs, one with the filter on and one with it off. All I need to do is find the time!

The thing is, many people still shoot with JPEG settings, that is why white balance is done. But if you shoot raw then you dont have to worry about it : )

For me and my non converted Sony rx10 4 and the Hoya when I was able to understand and have the ability to set the WB in Cam shooting raw man what a difference ! 😊
Would the really red RAW files be considered the "natural" infrared light? Since IR is an extension of red, that file is what we would see if our eyes were sensitive to IR right?
@Noealz

Mmm, I dont think so, infrared is not something we can see with our eyes, red is part of visible light but not IR
I followed the steps with the DNG matrix and saved file and closed program. Closed Lightroom and restarted it and imported custom DNG profile. Now the point is there is no 'profile header' where it should be. There is color. bnw and vintage...etc...What can I do to correct?

I took IR photos using an IPhone 11, and an IPhone 13 (with a 720nm Lens Filter in front of each of them). I took these photos in three formats, JPG (IPhone 11 and IPhone 13), HEIC (IPhone 11 and IPhone 13), and Apple ProRAW (IPhone 13). After I do initial in-app white-balancing in Lightroom to any of those files, then export any of those files into DNG format -- once I try to adjust the white-balance of that exported DNG file in Adobe's DNG Profile Editor, I receive an error message reading "The operation could not be completed.". This is irrespective of the IPhone model used, and irrespective of the file-type used (i.e., JPG, HEIC, or Apple ProRAW). Additionally, all of my applications are up to date. What exactly is happening? Does the DNG Profile Editor not work on phone photos, and only on DSLR / Mirrorless photos...? I can't see why that would be the case, mind you. What would be some potential solutions such that I can take and fully edit IR photos on one, if not each of those two aforementioned IPhones? Thank you very much.

You may need to adjust the type of file in export as … play around with export as DNG TIff I ran into this problem and it was just a matter of when you hit the export button like for instance I use DX oh photo lab six and I have I think four options I can at least Mesend it as a DNG with only optical correction in noise reduction but then there’s another setting that if I tweak it even a little bit if it won’t let me export I get the

Ok. What I dont get is: Why does photoshop change my picture back, after I loaded it from lightroom to photoshop, to start the channelmixing? And why the fuck has this to be so complicated? Damn Adobe... 😑
