Public decency is gone. You don't even need to have someone filming a TikTok. There's people all over at doctor's offices, restaurants, gyms, airports, etc. blasting their phone at full volumes and having what are sometimes *EXTREMELY* private conversations that should stay very private.

@@KZreadDweller8008 Well, for one thing, 'rural' areas don't have the housing and or land available for any kind of mass migration. Also, in some areas it's way, way more expensive to move to them. Plus you have the issue of transportation, which further increases the cost of living. And then there's the job issue. Rural areas don't always have a lot of opportunity.

@@KZreadDweller8008 Because a lot of people can't. Firstly, there's the financial issues. A lot of people just can't afford to move anywhere, period. Then, there's the matter of work. A lot of people these days do jobs that can only be found in cities. Personally, I think the solution to that is to make your own business so you can go wherever the hell you want, but a lot of people don't have what it takes to run their own business, hence why so many of them fail in the early stages. Then, there's the matter of history. This isn't so much a thing for Americans, but it's very common in Europe. I recently watched a documentary about a Serbian family who lived in the same apartment since 1912. Obviously, that wasn't what was remarkable about the family, but remember that they stayed not only in the same city, but the same apartment in Belgrade through 2 world wars, 50 years of socialism, Milosevic's wars, and the NATO bombing, and they are still there. Tons of European families have similar stories. When your family is so deeply ingrained with a certain area, I can understand refusing to leave

I swear people hear a new psychology buzz word and they think they are an expert on it. At most this is just self centered behavior. It's no where near narcissism. Most of the people that do this type of crap probably have crippling attachment issues that manifests itself in the need to be loved by other people which would not be a sign of a narcissism. Idk why this upsets me so much lol I think it's just that you guys see this as a problem with the individual where I see it as a problem with society. Basically, I think it comes from either bad parents who always put their kids wants first even when they knew it wasn't good for them or what they needed, or being raised by a single parent where your longing for that love and attention most of your life. Both of which are a symptom of how our society views marriage and child raising, just my opinion though but it's definitely not narcissism lol

@alexbernard6220 please do a simple search on types of narcissism. At the very least the influencer plague is fueled by a sub section of narcissism that is generally labeled as Exhibitionist Narcissism. There are a few other types of Narcissism that this behaviour fits into. A compelling argument could be made for it being a type of Community Narcissism. I don't dispute your assertion that most of the underlying causes can be traced back to parents/parenting and also broken homes. This is a well accepted truth for most of the types of Narcissistic Behaviours evidenced today. That is not to say that some people do not just exhibit the hallmarks and behaviours without a root cause. Some people are just messed up from birth unfortunately. If you do indeed do a search, enjoy going down the rabbit hole of one of the most dangerous types of mental maladies present today. It's shocking the level of disregard for other people that those with Narcissism and Narcissistic Tendencies have.

This is why I avoid TikTok like the plague and that's from just watching other people glued to their phones on TikTok, since I've never installed it on my phone. I'm not a medical expert, but I just found this definition on Bing Copilot, "What is the clinical term for extreme narcissism? Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is the clinical term for extreme narcissism. It’s a mental health condition in which individuals have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance. People with NPD seek excessive attention and desire admiration from others. However, they often lack empathy and struggle to understand or care about the feelings of those around them. If you suspect someone might be dealing with narcissistic personality disorder, it’s essential to encourage them to seek professional help..." Luckily, I've never seen people take it to the extreme as shown in your video. I would never approach this type of person, since they appear to be mentally unstable and likely dangerous.

Next time you see an "influencer" filming in a public space, just join in with what ever they're doing, the more people who do this takes the attention off them thus reducing their main character syndrome. @@rinkusan978 I think the benefits between video and written form could be debated. In general people tend to lean more towards affectation when on film, vs a sense of honesty with oneself when expressing only thoughts as you do in written form. That said, there's no rule that limits a journal to writing. A person can keep a video journal. I think then the real problem though would come down to the fact that most of these particular people don't have a sense of honesty with themselves. They don't actually spend time with themselves and their own thoughts. These people are not making a video journal for themselves, they're trying to find validation through attention.

  • @lukeanastasiades5657

@@rinkusan978 Also, "primary source" is a history term referring to a document or object created at the same time as a studied historical period. Usually the piece will pertain to the studied period/person/event and forms the backbone of our understanding of that period. For example, if we're studying the Civil War, a primary source could be an old M1863 Springfield Caplock musket, a letter from President Lincoln to General George McClellan telling him to attack, or a Journal from a Union private detailing his experiences on the front lines. Hence, keeping a journal will create a primary source about one's life, while also allowing one to express themselves honestly.

@@lukeanastasiades5657 then a video format primary source trumps a written format, especially in terms of honesty. It's harder to lie with your facial expression and body movement being recorded than when it's not recorded. The true issue here is not the video format recording. It's how the medium is being used. People can lie equally as much when writing, especially when it pertains to seeking attention. We're on youtube, the land of clickbait titles... for example.

BUT... if that internet content creator is posting that video, which includes you in it, AND they are monetized... they MUST pay you residuals. This is why Hollywood filmmakers have to get signed releases from anyone appearing onscreen. And most people don't know this but... you MUST get a permit to film anything commercial (monetized). The worst thing about this stuff is that the person being harassed is basically required not to react because the “influencer” has a camera on them. It means they always get away with it, because no one is allowed to get angry or they’ll be filmed and demonized online. It would be normal for people to yell at these a-holes for their behaviour but no one wants that clip out there to be taken out of context and have ten million people weigh in on it. We’ve got people addicted to attention, we’ve got people addicted to clicking attention seeking addicts, we’ve got algorithms that ramp up the potency of the experiences and content these people desire and we’ve got platforms that encourage the consumption of short-form fast food media if you’ll tolerate the expression. The platforms seek nothing but money and the attention addicted and content addicts do a great job making them rich by way of ad-based models and of course data-mining(which benefits handsomely due to leaky things like Tik Tok which have astounding privacy issues that nobody seems to care about) .
