AWD in my opinion is always the better option in any condition. The benefits increase drastically in wet and snowy conditions. But even in dry conditions it a bonus to have the additional traction safety of the AWD. I live in Phx AZ and we do get rain and snowy conditions is only an hour drive away. I love my AWD Q60.

Thank you for making this video! It was great, and you are very knowledgeable about the vehicle. The one thing that made me laugh was: "some" rain in Florida. Soo much freaking rain down here! My back end would kick out from behind me all the time going 35-40 on an on-ramp in my 350z in rainy conditions here, which is why I was looking up to see if I got this car would it do the same. AWD sounds perfect to me and I could take it on road trips to places that snow. Plus Plus.

Have an 05 coupe and drove a black silver sport today... between the power, the heads I turnt, and that crazy bose system... this car 100% makes your heart beat faster.

Here in California no need for the AWD so i picked up the RWD :)

If you plan to lower the car and you live in a warm climate or you don't drive your RWD in the winter like me (and mine is AWD) then you're better off with RWD. BTW - I have a 2012 G37xS Coupe with Uprev Osiris Tune done on the dyno and I find that any sports car that is mostly factory tuned should be custom tuned. Not only is the car smoother but I get better gas mileage and more power! The new Q60 shares the same platform since the 2005. The same transmission since 2011 (7 speed). Same AWD system and both front and rear LSD's and front and rear electronic diff. Same brakes too. The difference is the exterior and interior. I prefer the Infotainment system in the G vs the Q which I find cumbersome and difficult to use. And apparently I'm not the only one. Several car magazines put the new Q in last place... including Consumer's Reports. I installed custom carbon fiber inserts in the dash, steering wheel, vents and between the heated seat buttons, door handles and window/door control area. 3M CF wrap. I'm changing my wheels to a staggered setup. 19 - 9.5 rear and 19 - 8.5 front wheels with hi gloss black with red matching red pin stripes (she's a red head). The growl out of the car is amazing. I have 2 R2C black chrome intakes and CF Engine cover and a GT Spec front strut bar...rear bracing. I don't think a bottom mounted front brace is necessary. I could add the new intake plenum and add more HP but I feel she's already very quick since the tune. I'm the first AWD G to use Tanabe Coils to lower the car, only 5% stiffer than stock. If you check the fenders you will notice that the car comes out of the factory with rolled rims meaning that the fenders do not have a flat edge parallel to the wheels. I'm waiting to see the Black edition....There are a couple of new improvements to the 2018 over the 2017: The shift boot is better leather than the cheap looking boot from last year and the paddles don't look like they just came off a $20K Corolla! They are still not as nice as the 2011 - 2013 G (magnesium with leather. It's also a shame that Infiniti no longer embosses the seats with the logo. And gone is the cool analog clock too. Biggest difference is when I changed the 225 19 45 factory Yokohama's to the top of the line Toyo's also with a staggered setup. Front 245 40 19 / 265 35 19 rears, Akebono's are standard: Best looking rear brakes! Front 15mm spacers rear 20mm spacers (H & R). I don't see any Red G's ever....so even more rare than F - Type Jags....Changed the brakes to larger Vented Cross drilled front and rear brake rotors with Ceramic brake pads...so the car stops better now too. The car is 5 years old and never winter driven and low mileage.

Whoo! No spin out in the corner and didn't smack the semi. Sold.

Most people probably understand the value and benefit of AWD, but I guess you never can be sure. However, I have a 2016 Q50 AWD with the 3.0t and the owners manual gives specific details about a break in period. No full throttle starts, don't rev the engine past 4000 rpm's and so on. So why is this guy is mashing the gas and redlining these brand new luxury cars that some unsuspecting customer will buy?

What do you think people do when they test drive cars, do they follow the break-in procedure? Also with INFINITI sales training they encourage customers on a demo drive to experience full throttle application in the proper settings. The break-in procedure is geared towards ownership and the way to you drive the vehicle for the first few thousand miles. Some people do like to follow to break-in procedures, for those of you I recommend not purchasing a new car that was used for demo purposes, and either factory order one or seek out one in inventory that has not been demoed or driven that much, ones with only a couple miles on the ODO. What do you think a customer would say who wanted to test drive a 400-hp Q60 Red Sport 400 and we told that customer you cant rev it past 4000 RPM? They would either go to another franchise who would let them, or go to another brand. After 20 years in the car industry I'm pretty sure no harm was done to those vehicles in the video.

At no point in my comment do I reference customers test driving the vehicles, I am questioning allowing a sales person that wants to show AWD is better than RWD in wet conditions flogging them. I believe AWD’s superiority was discovered some 70 years prior to this breath taking video. If I were a betting man, I would say next in line he will show us the benefits of driving with and without headlights at night. So yeah, if a customer wants to floor it - you will have to let them. I get that, but I didn’t feel the need when I drove all 3 Q50 motors to pick mine. I have been buying new cars since the 1970’s and three quarter pedal will let you know if it’s a dog or not. (The 2.0t was a dud). I believe its called respect. Now if an owner with over 2000 miles wants to take the 3.0t 300hp version to a race track for quarter mile times, that would be helpful since most magazines test the 2.0 or 400 hp red sport. Lastly your argument that the break period is open to interpretation must mean that changing the oil and any other recommendations Infiniti makes are simply there waiting for the owner’s interpretation. Good to know, I will save money using old regular Valvoline 10W40.

Chris, I'm not a sales person, I'm the Marketing Director, part of my job it to market our new and pre-owned vehicles, which includes making videos of them like this one. Giving a vehicle full throttle application up to the speed limit is not in my opinion flogging them. And for AWD is it not always superior, it depends on the place you live and how you drive, I discuss that in the video. The Q60 is a performance vehicle, its designed to have full throttle applications from a stand still and be pushed to red line reliably for years and many thousands of miles.

We will need to agree to disagree on some points. Just please keep in mind that you don’t work for Car and Driver or Motor Trend and as such these are not press cars. These are new cars that will be sold as such to future owners. Also please remember that I own a 2016 Q50 3.0t AWD that I like very much, so I am an Infiniti fan and customer. Owners maunals with a 500 mile or less break in period is more of a CYA thing these days. Engines are usually ran hard before delivery anyway. And unless the ODO has under 3 miles on it, you must assume a lot guy, delivery guy, or customer test driving it put it past 4k rpm. I'm a believer of changing the oil after the first 700-1k miles. Especially if you drive spiritedly, whether it's got synthetic or not. Other than that...just drive it.

I wish infinity kept the physical analog clock... it added to the luxury feel of it. I hate the digital clock.

It added a ghetto feel to it. People trying to feel rich by having a cheap ass quartz clock in their dash. These clocks are not like your grand father's clock, and not like that timeless tasteful mechanical piece that sits on a gentleman's wrist, these are cheap ass quartz movements that post-date digital clocks (yes digital clocks are older than the tech used in car analog clocks). Good riddance, glad they ripped that archaic waste of space out.

I can't believe how similar this car looks inside to my 2014 Q60S. But, I much prefer my actual analog clock. I mean, really. A display version of the clock? Hmmm. Yea, I know it's a nit. Still, I love these cars. The turbo version of this 3.0L is nice. It actually has a bit more grunt then my 3.7L. The 3.0 non turbo? Not so much. The 3.7 has more grunt out of the hole and better passing power then the non turbo 3.0.

Wow, the traction control is amazing in the Q60. Even the pure RWD one. I own a G37S coupe and if I give full throttle on a corner with the traction control on, it just goes sideways. One day I’ll own one of these 😅

The Genesis Coupe is a great car, I have driven many. Hopefully Hyundai keeps the option of a manual transmission. Sadly for the enthusiasts who love shifting their own gears manual transmissions are quickly being made obsolete by the new generation of automatics and DCTs. Now with some manufacturers coming out with 10-speed autos pretty soon the performance, efficiency and shifting speed is far superior to what a human could do shifting his or herself. Could you image your Genesis with a 10-speed manual gearbox? That would be very confusing. I would say for all those people who love manual gearboxes, keep buying them. For INFINITI, as great as the 6MT option was, we did not have enough people buying brand new ones for INFINITI to offer that as an option when they developed the Q50 and Q60.

INFINITI OF TACOMA AT FIFE​ Excellent points. However Infiniti is a luxury car brand and are known as such. Nowadays people don't buy Manual transmissions because they don't know how to drive them. I also disagree that the manual will become obsolete. Non luxury brands still offer them (Honda civic si sells well, Toyota 86/brz, new Ford focus RS, Hyundai Veloster, Subaru STI) and some only in manual like the civic si and Wrx STI and GT350 which sell really well. The market is there but the AMOUNT and type of affordable cars the market wants aren't hence the reason only few manual cars sell well. Genesis is now a luxury brand and will not offer a manual option because the luxury market doesn't yield to one. Only luxury brands known to produce specialty vehicles (911R) that sell very well will now come manual (Porsche). Jaguar offers the f-type in manual. The manual will live but will become expensive to own.

Imleocalm Once the country is standard across the board, manual transmission will become a thing of the past with autonomous driving. Might be decades aways, but Infiniti is trying to ease drivers into the mindset, hence the steer by wire.
