Infiniti could give the G their 5.6L V8 to compete with the M3, C63 AMG, and IS-F. And perhaps call it a G56 or something...

My take on these cars - Love them all but. (including the G35) G25: is pointless, much slower, not much cheaper, only gets 2 more mpg G35: Tried and true with the VQ35HR if your thinking about a G25 get this instead since its older, its cheaper, and the price savings will easily pay for the 1mpg less you get G37: Favorite of them all (sedan) Capable of 5.1 seconds 0-60 sprints, best engine etc G37 IPL: Ugh 18 more HP for all that extra cost, not really any faster, but looks good : )

5 years later the used prices of G's and IPL's are great value

@21forever21 Personally if your getting the 2.5, they're both about the same. Good fuel economy not slow but also not quick but it'll get you around no problem. If your looking for the 3.5 engine, the Lexus's IS is smoother and more refined then the Infinitis. That being said, the Infinitis 3.7 is also more sporty and feels more powerful then the Lexus's.

1) I don't understand why they think it's good idea to have a 2.5l for a V6 when l4 is the more efficient and light which makes it handles better w/ less weight. 2)Having a performance line up is good but the IPL name sounds lame and +18hp simply isn't good enough. They should have been more ballistic and go head on w/ those competitors by turbocharging over 400hp. Which then the extra premium makes sense. From a G37 fan.

@flatblackstrat Not off the road but I was driving right up to the edge. It was necessary to get driving footage on a narrow road.

i like this review style all though didnt show to much of the cars interior. but other then that real nice!

If youre looking for an infinite to take to the track this is not it..? what infiniti would be it?? its their most sportiest car, not to mention even more power then the already sport tuned g37 w/330hp, like 350hp isnt enough for you.. add on top the sport tuned suspension and brakes, wheels and body.this would so be for street racing at least, and track. you want to compete with the M series and AMG?? get a fucking Nissan GTR, still half th price and will no doubt smoke all those "supercars"

@deant1990 Agreed! The G25 is so pointless! Its 0-60 is over 7 seconds and it only gets 2 more MPG over the much faster 3.7L and the price difference is not that great either! Granted the interior is still very nice and so is the exterior.

@WoZIMoo Infiniti isn't planning on bringing a larger engine offering to the G37 sedan any time soon, However they are extending their IPL line up so yes the Infiniti G37 will be receiving the IPL performance engine some time soon. Hopefully the new IPL engine for the G37 sedan in 2012 will have 400 + HP that way the 2012 IPL coupe can be revised for that year to. The M56 is also getting the IPL engine, that thing already has 420HP to begin with, imagine how much faster its going to be!!!

@GHICAGO71 The 5.6L V8 puts out 417 ft-lb. of torque @4400 rpm. The auto used for that engine is a 7 speed. If a manual was ever developed for this application, I'm thinking it would be a beefed up 6 speed.

@TangoR34 Agreed, nothing is special with IPL but you just pay extra to make yourself feel better(not really). All the things that went wrong because GTR would have been in Infiniti lineup.

@GHICAGO71 The only problem with that is there might not be a manual transmission available that can handle the torque and power of the V8. It would be automatic only... but that's only if it becomes reality.

@Johncarson9113 I know what you're saying... but it's the lack of "luxury and refinement" will not matter as soon as I put the pedal to the floor. It will also not help at all during winter driving... RWD will just be sad in the Canadian snow, whereas the Symmetrical AWD in the Subaru is better in snow than most SUVs to date. And yes, I know G25/G27 owners are looking for a different kind of car which is why I mentioned "This is completely irrelevant" and "IMO" which means "In my opinion."

I'm a G37 Sedan owner, I think G25 is just pointless, it's more like a hoax Infiniti just put up to compete with lower end luxary line , however, it's slower than a standard BMW 328i. WHILE, G37 is such a beast to drive , I recommend G37 only.

The G25 should have a should only have a 2.5L engine if it was a RB25DET ;)

@Killer91109 Why do you think horsepower is everything in a vehicle?? You really think a Subaru is going to offer you the luxury and refinement of an Infiniti yet alone the driving dynamics of a true luxury sport car. Any tuned up car can exceed the power of an M-series or AMG engine if they really wanted to, but your not simply buying it for the engine. You have to take in to account that people in the market shopping for a G25 or G37 aren't just looking for any car, they have expectations.

This is completely irrelevant... but with 49k I could buy a 20-25k Subaru WRX STI (2002-2007) and use the rest of the money to tune it to over 500hp... IMO it would look nicer, SOUND NICER be faster and be a way better deal.

IPL = fail...25 = waste of time. Are you serious a spoiler, a badge, ohh 19 inch wheels.... Ill take an older model g35 and tune it myself....49,000$ does not justify 348 hp
