our brains are mean and kind at the same time.. for example: if i’m already stressed out, why do i have to cry? i feel bad enough, crying makes me feel worse. and it’ll make my head heart. but then, after i cry, i feel so much better. i’m happier, i’m relieved. the human brain is incredible, we will never stop learning about our brains- the more we learn, the more there is to learn. - sincerely, a brain

15 years ago on July 24th, 2009, my mom had to go to the ER due to a severe headache and a high fever. She said it was the worst pain and highest fever she’s ever had. They determined that it was meningitis. In fact, it was one of the worst cases the doctors had ever seen and they were fully expecting her to die. But God healed her and saved her life! He had other plans for her on this earth. The doctors were amazed because they had never had a patient survive that severe of a case of meningitis. I’m thankful to God that he saved my mom’s life. My parents and I will go out to dinner tomorrow to celebrate the 15 year anniversary of my mom surviving meningitis.

My brother died of meningitis. He went to the doctor and was diagnosed with an ear infection and was sent home. That night he was found in his bed unresponsive with a fever of 106. He was rushed to the hospital but was already brain dead. The doctor who did the autopsy told my parents that he probably felt no pain because his brain was almost completely destroyed by the bacteria because it was so aggressive. He went from completely normal to brain dead in 24 hours. Edit: He was 7 years old and the doctor that diagnosed him with an ear infection did absolutely nothing wrong. His only symptoms were ear pain and a low grade fever. No stiff neck or red skin blotches or any other symptoms of meningitis. No doctor could have correctly diagnosed him at that point and even if they could it would have made no difference. It was just too aggressive.

So weird isn't it? This is someone's brain, everything they experienced, every memory they ever had. Anything they ever knew is right there. I wonder whose brain this belonged to. I wonder if someday in the future we'll be able to reactivate brains and dive through someone's memories and somehow relive other people's memories, thoughts, and pasts...

To be honest… id be scared to relive someone’s life through VR. All their ups and downs, strengths and weaknesses. Loves and hates. Etc. But not only that… but what about the boring parts a good 1/3-3/4 of your life is spent waiting so even if we had the technology to relive an entire lifetime in mere days to minutes. I would’ve spent what felt like a lifetime and half of it being sleep and waiting in lines/in cars, etc.

My father had meningitis, doctors had originally diagnosed him with a ear infection. But one day, when my mom went to drop me and my sisters off at his house, he wasn’t answering the door, and after peeking though a window, found him unresponsive in his bed. So my mom called 911. When he went to the hospital, they told her if she hadn’t discovered him that day, he would’ve been dead by morning. They said he had about a 20% chance of survival, and was in a coma for 3 days before awakening. He made a full recovery for the most part, he still has some issues remembering things and his IQ has diminished slightly. But overall, he is alive and fully functioning! I am forever blessed that he is with us to this day. Hearing all these stories of people losing loved ones to this horrible disease breaks my heart, knowing I could’ve very easily been in yalls shoes. My heart goes out to you all and your families❤

our brains are mean and kind at the same time.. for example: if i’m already stressed out, why do i have to cry? i feel bad enough, crying makes me feel worse. and it’ll make my head heart. but then, after i cry, i feel so much better. i’m happier, i’m relieved. the human brain is incredible, we will never stop learning about our brains- the more we learn, the more there is to learn. - sincerely, a brain

I know you joke but I wish this could become an actual thing you could say 100 years from now. 100-150 years before, you couldn't even think of saying this if you saw someone's heart or kidneys sitting on a table
My parents and I will go out to dinner tomorrow to celebrate the 15 year anniversary of my mom surviving meningitis.
new fear unlocked, having a brain in my head
