"I'm Paul page from papyrus" oh the memories. I used to play this on my brothers old computer all of the time, had the paint shop where you could update paint jobs and everything. So much fun!

Crashing and replaying the videos for all night long was a sweet memory. 20k rpm blown engine was another fun.

So far ahead of it's time. What a glorious decade it was for PC gaming 1991-2001.

I player this só much in 95, 96, 97! For those days this game were a Super Super Blast!

I remember playing this. I used to drive the other way and cause crashes and carnage with the cars till the AI couldn't drive anymore

Oh Lord, 20 years ago, my first racing game, what a milestone for years. Awesome physics, setup options and game Play, it made so much fun. Anyone else here who took part at the iirs.com offline Champion chip in '98/'99? This game was released at the same time as Nascar Racing 2 which never caught me that much . 20 years later and I am still full of passion for a round in a single-seater but now I don't have enough time :-\

Nostalgy!! I was so obsessed with this game that I used to play it exactly according to the F-Indy race calendar, from 1996 up to 2001!! lol

Man... so i wasn't the only crazy boy doing this !

Just to add to the conversation. A friend and myself did the multiplayer feature(though modems) where we could connect with each other on the different tracks. I think we raced with the AI at the same time. both of us did many many hours on this game. I had all the versions of Indycar up to the last version which was I think called Cart racing. I even had the Rendition graphics card that vastly improved and smoothed out the graphics. That rendition graphics card is long gone and the new graphics cards now do not do the same thing that card did. Some of the tracks were converted or remade to work on Nascar2003, so if you have this game, get the indycar mod and Soundpack, You are right back into racing Indycar 2 again which I have setup on my Windows 7 PC. Cant believe how long its been since this game came out. Take care

We've come a long way. I remember playing this on a 15 inch monitor. Now I race Indycars on iRacing with my Oculus Rift and OSW Mige wheel. Incredible.

Nice... it is the old Indicar? how is the gameplay?

I used to spend hours watching replays of myself speeding the time rong way down the pit lane and causing chaos. The damage model was so much more satisfying than many of todays titles!

Yeah. IMO, the Papyrus racing engine was one of the accurate (if not the most accurate) engine ever released.

My first ever PC, a 486DX ran Indycar without a soundcard. I upgraded to a soundcard which added a whole new element to the game. Then when ICR2 came out my 486 wouldn't run it so I leased a Pentium 2 and spent so many nights winning the Indycar Championship at 75% comptetion!!!

Isn't it fun how a game from 1995 still can beat modern Race Sims in Terms of Physics? ICR2 is until today the best IndyCar Simulator out there (rFactor Mods like CART Factor 98 excluded of course)

Totally agree. By playing sims like nascar racing, indycar racing (papyrous) and gp2 (microprose), I can't believe how the hell these games were developed more than 20 years ago and still kick ass of nowadays driving games

I used to play this a lot in 95, 96 and 97! I remember playing this with a friend and we called each other for time lap comparison! No Internet of course....

@@Squakenet, exactly! We have to write down the times on a paper sheet (e.g: 10 laps at Laguna Seca) and then call each other to compare! Fantastic days!

There’s some Papyrus for you, right in the first corner!

Brings me back to the 90's. I liked the racing and the detailed cockpit. But eventually I ended up with going on for hours in the paint area. Copied a pretty nice '94 Loctite Lotus F1 car for this game.

Way way ahead of its time

it's a shame this STUDIO doesn't exist anymore. they made the best sim racing games ever, like Nascar racing season 2003.

Used to play this on my windows 95 PC. I'll never forget that intro "and this, is IndyCar Racing II". It was my first ever racing game on PC. For me it is nostalgic and I played it so much, I got addicted. These days I play the Codemasters F1 games and the Nascar Heat games. Wish they'd make a new IndyCar game separate of the Project Cars 2 stuff.

Loved this sim! I had a Rendition card. It was sweet with accelerated graphics...

When I was in kindergarten I played a demo version of this game, which only had the Detroit and Michigan tracks. Its replay feature was a bit different since it had a timeline that you could click and drag to scrub through the replay. Options could also be clicked in a Windows-style pop-up menu as opposed to having to use the keyboard. The races also started with a green flag instead of yellow. So far the versions that I've found do not have any of these features, so it might have been one of the re-released versions. As for which version it was (there were quite a few made) I don't know, but hope to eventually find out what exactly I was playing back then.

Another game I missed due to the navy. It saddens me how developers have abandoned the PC in matters of any American racing sport. Great looking game and more importantly, great framerate for the time.

Definetely one of my favourite racing game! The graphics was and still is impressive and the physics very well realized. The addition of SVGA to the great work already done on Indycar Racing - 1993 PC Game, introduction and gameplay made it a classic racing game!

@@SmithChan-qp3xh Yes, if you manage to find one compatible with MS Dos. Also, I guess that it would be only working in a real DOS machine, not on Dosbox.

For me ICR2 is simply the best Indycar game as GP2 is the best f1 game.

Is this am updated version of ICR 2? I have version 1.0 of this game, and the graphics don't look anywhere near this good.

Does not matter the version, you need to execute the game with the -h option in order to run the SVGA
