Indy needs to go back to Fontana, this track produces great racing for Nascar and Indy. It isn't a narrow 1.5-mile track.

I know these guys can drive i just think the ovals are a complete waste of time! All the drivers have to do is put their foot down and turn left they even have someone to tell them where the other car is!

Tbh I think an open wheel car belongs on a street circuit or road course, in my opinion, obviously ... But doing these ovals, is not as easy, as it looks. I'm a formula 1 fan first and foremost but It takes a lot of car control and courage to do these ovals. As for the guy telling them where other cars are, that's a necessity. It doesn't take away from their skill.

CART was great but that was in the past this is now and they never went 261 MPH the fastest anyone has ever gone officially in an IndyCar is 256 MPH which was Paul Tracy at Michigan. The speeds are coming back up slowly Gil de Ferran's 241 MPH lap record will be broken one day i'm sure of it. Yes the DW12 may not be the best looking race car out their but it produces damn good racing and it's the regulations that are holding back the speed not the car it'self can't blame Dallara for that.

revanstark Stand corrected. It was 241mph. It will not be broken by a spec series. No way in hell it will ever be broken by these crapwagons.

GeneralKenobiSIYE Back in those days the money was unlimited thanks to tobacco and Gil had a special qualifying engine from what I have read it had over 1000 HP. IndyCar was nearly killed off 2012, 2013 seasons have shown me why it's the best racing series on the planet at the moment yes it may be spec series but until the idiots who run the series change it that's the way it's going to be. The field this season is the deepest it's been in terms of talent since CART and 2014 even more so if they would just up the power and get more manufactures involved it could be what even the old CART/Champ Car fans are looking for.

***** Greatest speed ever recorded in an IndyCar was Paul Tracy he hit 256 MPH on the back straight at Michigan in practice I believe. Over a single lap it was Gil De Ferran 241 MPH at Fontana in 2000.

The fans in the stands was pathetic- look at Chicagland during the IRL era... You know... I find it very ironic... that all you show, are clips that "resemble" what the IRL racing was once like... But these are just "high-lights" of that event, taken after restarts. All 14 minutes of it... out of 3 hour race, where 2:45 hours the racing wasn't even remotely as close, interesting or exciting as you try to portray- it was BORING... with hundreds of feet between the composition. CART fans (and foreign road racing drivers), you got your turbos, you got your street courses and now you got your boring oval racing as a result (except maybe Indy '13 & '14, but that will soon change with aero kits)! And you even accomplished putting your beloved-safer DW12 chassis into the fence not once, but twice in less than 12 months! At least when the IRL put one in fence it was years apart and did it with better racing which was a helleva lot more exciting, closer and better!
