Fans need to support Indycar and true fans will one race or more.

One major positive is that the Indy NXT series will also have their finale here and they havent had a speedway race since the end of the Freedom 100 in 2019

I was at the 2018 Indy 500 and got to see the crazy Freedom 100 of that year. My dad and I found open seats at the start/finish line so we saw the crazy 3 wide at the white flag. I got a video of the finish and the Indy Motor Speedway retweeted it lol

Just a note - this change has been made more by the Music City GP promoter, rather than the series.

Just a point of information about your story- Nashville Speedway is about 10 miles south of Inter-state Hyway 40- East of Nashville, not West.

Great news!! Nashville is the kind of oval Indycar needs (personally i'm a bit sceptical about Michigan and Pocono). But i'm also a bit sad because i was looking forward to the redesigned Nashville street course, which looked much better than the old one ...

Because we know, well, I know, is a good oval for the sport. Nashville is a good oval. Example of a bad oval, current configuration Kentucky. The current configuration of Texas still sucks, but thankfully the racing did get better

@@IanTheMotorsportsMan_YT I would caution against being so confident about such things given the DW12 has not, in ANY of its revisions, raced on any D-shaped oval longer than a mile and shorter then two. And the ONE thing we can say for sure is that the DW12 doesn't race like the old IRL OR CART cars. This is effectively an unknown. Which honestly gets me hyped for it.

​@@cookowa3256 I saw those races when they happened. 1: Nashville(1.3mi) is shorter than both, MUCH moreso than Auto Club. 2: It is shaped differently from Texas. 3: It has less banking than Texas 4: It is concrete paved instead of asphalt. Texas and Auto Club are NOT representative of what to expect here. It is a completely different track.

From a racing standpoint this is definitely an improvement, but at least from a business standpoint they have to be losing a ton of money from the deal (probably) falling through, the hits keep on coming in that regard.

Finally something positive in Indycar. I hope they will stay there for good. Im so excited about this now. I will freeze myself until September, so that someone can unfreeze me before the race.

That's a valid point but Indycar's generally use low-downforce aero for super Speedways, let's em hit upwards of 230mph :)

I didn't mind when they started adding more road races to the schedule, replacing some of the lesser ovals. But now that they've moved away from ovals almost entirely (they'll never stop doing the Indy500), I'm disappointed. But I suspect I understand the motivation. TV. Oval races tend to be 3 - 4 hours long (at least), and you can't race in the rain. This makes ovals problematic for TV. Messes up schedules, max duration isn't predictable, or will the race be postponed to the next day. NASCAR still garners enough viewers, TV puts up with it, though they are also doing more road and less oval too (probably for the same reasons).

This would burn out the Nashville fans. Either have one venue or the other.

The nashville streets always made for a chaotic race which was kind of entertaining but having an extra oval is great

I’m happy for another Oval but the season finale on a Oval should be good

Now ...for those who wanted more ovals(me included) GET YOUR ARSES INTO THE SEATS, so this stays on the schedule next year when Texas returns!!!

TEXAS never returns in the next few years

Nashville is gonna be a short track because of the length, despite being named a superspeedway, so the short oval aerokit is gonna be used again. Unless Indycar wants to up the ante and make em use superspeedway aerokits, thats gonna be one hell of a curveball. Regardless this is a very left field announcement, but a welcome one personally.

Wrong. Nashville Superspeedway is 1.333 miles long and according to the Indycar rulebook (from 2023, 2024's not released yet) Speedway/Superspeedway Events - An Oval/Oval Event with a Track distance greater than 1.3 miles.

Tbh, Nashville streets wasn’t my biggest ,problem‘ with the calendar by far, so I’m a bit disappointed. Iowa is weird, WWTR is okay, Texas was great. I didn’t love Mid-Ohio, so those would be the ones I‘d have loved to go, Detroit as well.

Holy shit what the fuck! This is the first that I'm hearing of this news. Fantastic! I'm a bit bummed that a street course carnage won't happen but can't complain about a traditional oval finale and it being in a speedway/superspeedway Awesome news! News that I definitely wasn't expecting. Oh and also there better be fans in that race considering its a finale (I'm European so no chance for me to be there because of work). Don't want to see empty stands because that would be shit for a finale

All I really care about for the final race is a proper celebration for the champion, not just some confetti and emptied out stands.

The only indycar races I watch are the oval races. It's something unique that us Europeans don't get.

YES!!! The Nashville Street Course was horrible. I know it was going to be different this year, but it never had any business hosting the finale.

Seems there was also some behind-the-scenes drama going on that resulted in Scott Borchetta just buying the half he didn't own. Dude certainly seems to have the money and connections to promote the speedway race right so hopefully that happens.

It's not a super speedway just a speedway track super speedway is over 2 miles it's just weird naming. Still good news tho

Difinitely not happy about this, oval races are mid with the exception of Indy500, its more about the car set up than driver skill, i liked they were progresiveley moving towards more road course and away from ovals but now this.....

The fans want ovals but nobody visits them, why? Money, too expensive? I don't think so, just the old IRL and Indy 500 fans no one else wants to see them, that's the fact !

I hope this isn't just a one time deal because, ovals are great and the new Nashville track layout looks awful, the pitlane has more corners than the actual track, the only good part is that they still go over the bridge like the previous layout.

I don’t think we 2 races each in Wisconsin and Tennessee when we already do 2 in Indy and races in Ohio and Michigan. It all seems a bit too close. I hope they bring back some more tracks in the east or even phoenix or Sebring/homestead
