Indycar and the north american categories must to do something about the excesive duration of the yellow flags. FIA categories has too much shorter times between the accident and the restart of the races. It´s very annoying wait so long for the race come back.

Great race! But I don't understand why they stopped the race. Stopping the race is not going to stop the lightnings is it? Well thats my only complaint, other than that great race!

HaloReachTutorials1 They stopped it because the camera men, spotters, and other observers who stand on top of the grand stands were in danger of being hit by lightning. The spectators in the grand stands are also in danger of being hit by it. Those grand stands are made of metal, and are great lighting rods.

Musicman81indy, yeah I mean, I understand that, thats my point, did they move all the fans and everything? Because they stopped the race right? But the storm wont stop, so theres the same danger for everyone even if they are racing or not. You get what I am saying? Sorry if its not clear, im spanish so im still learning :)

HaloReachTutorials1 They stopped the race because of the lightning. They moved all the fans out of the stands, and they also brought all the workers and announcers in from the corners in order to protect them from being hit by the lightning. Anyone who is up that high is a potential target for lightning. If there are no fans in the stands, and no spotters, and no workers in the corners, then there is no sense in continuing the race.

HaloReachTutorials1 I was marshaling at silverstone a couple of years ago and it got to a point in a thunderstorm and me and one other guy were stuck out between the metal armco and metal catch fencing either side of us, with lightning striking probably around 200 yards from us.... It's really not safe for us when it starts happening, and bloody scary too!

Just out of interest, can anyone satisfy my curiosity as to why Indycar does itself an injustice by racing on these horrible street circuits when there are so many great road courses that would be much more conducive to great open wheel racing? Long Beach is an example of a great street circuit, but why Belle Isle as opposed to Road America, Road Atlanta, Watkins Glen, Sebring, Miller Motorsports Park, COTA etc?

Indycar when you arent good enough for F1 anymore. :D it's like F3. Are they allowed to modify the cars on the tracks that isnt around and around

Sad that the white sportcar didn't won the race after leading all these laps. Its driver proved he was at least better under rain than single-seater fast cars! BTW, what s that one pub low mount Oh yeah they re talking about each couple of laps ?
