    If sales continue to decline, perhaps Toyota will reconsider and bring back the V6. Who knows. Their V6s were so bulletproof so it's hard to understand why they went this route. We do have a Sienna and at almost 100K miles that 6 still as smooth as silk.

    That's some horrible fuel economy for a midsized truck. I can get 22-24 on the highway going 75-80 with my 5.0 V8 full sized truck. When I had the 2.7 ecoboost I could get 25-27. Unless for some reason you really, really need the smaller size there is not price, performance or efficiency reason to get a Tacoma.

    Pretty pitiful for a 4-cylinder engine on a mid-sized truck frame. Makes sense with a heavier box frame on a physically noticeably bigger/boxier body design.😳. Toyota Tacoma’s are becoming cheaper and cheaper as the years role on but unfortunately, the prices MSRPwise, are not cheaper.

    I like your comments on the seats and other features. However, I am an older guy and have had many vehicles during my life. You cannot rely upon the dashboard computer to calculate your fuel economy accurately. They are RARELY accurate. The only true way is to Fill, Drive, and Fill again at your stopping point. It's a waste to discuss the fuel mileage when you don't actually know how may gallons you used over how many miles. Great info on the rest of it, though!

  • @NMTRUCKER
    @NMTRUCKER11 күн бұрын

    Driving at 70-80 mph you were probably pushing the turbo and hence the lower than expected fuel economy. My suggestion would be to invest in a BANKS IDASH DATA MONSTER. I know Tim has a super gauge but the data monster allows you to monitor and record a plethora of engine parameters. I would think that evaluating a vehicle’s performance on an extended trip would be greatly enhanced by using this gauge. Then you could tell your viewership what the engine load was at various speeds, what boost the turbo was running at… But maybe most folks aren’t interested in that level of understanding engine performance. A lot of people just say “all turbo engines are junk” but with little understanding of how they actually work. If your goal is to educate the consumer then the more facts you can provide may help some folks understanding of modern engine performance. Just a thought. 🤔

    Unless it's shaped more like a wing and less like a brick MPG is going to be much less then EPA if you are over 60mph. Wind resistance is a mofo. Fd = .5 ∗ p ∗ v 2 ∗ Cd ∗ A. Speed is a big part of the formula and it seems to go noticeably exponential over 45.

This was using cruise control. I found the seat very comfortable. My wireless charger worked, but would not charge over 80%. Second day I started with 100% and it discharged and held at 80%. Now this interesting. I have two 3rd gens. My 16 TRDSport gets very good MPG. Driving without cruise at 80 I get near 24, with cruise, it nose dives badly. It gets HORRIBLE. ⛽ Toyota has failed on all their New Gen's The Greatest car manufacturer Toyota has as it seems self-destructed over night Build quality inside and out is cheap plastics and underbuilt and poorly designed to cut corners The Tacoma is the latest to start having issues. Transmission's overheating and failing, rear differential failing. No fix no replacement parts in inventory The New 2.4 turbo w/ 8 speed transmission ( advertised )combined milage is 21 -22 as tested at 55 mpg's in stock configuration Real World mileage is 17 to 18 mpg's stock configuration And after many KZreadrs put slightly larger tire's on, they are averaging 15 mpg's Also keep in mind Toyota's that have the 2.4 engine, all have the same fuel tank and capacity of 18.5 gallons KZreadr's including this video are struggling to get 300 miles on a full tank w/o rolling into the gas station on fumes and long term and possibly damaging the fuel pump In comparison, I own a 4Runner 5th Gen It's a 4.0 N/A V6 w/ a 5 speed transmission ( bulletproof) but underpowered and thirsty On a limited trim w/ AWD, I've got a 3' inch lift on stock size tire's ( 265/70/17 but they are Goodyear E - rated all terrains And my milage is 18 mpg's combined driving w/ a 23.5 fuel tank that gives me around 365 Miles on a full tank This isn't a Flex 💪 , but a comparison. On how bad Toyota has shit the bed and they are trying to convince consumers the New Gen's are class leading in every metric

    Everyone pointing out it's a 4 cylinder like it's your parents pinto. With the turbo charged engines they are producing a lot more power than 6 cylinder NA motors and as much as many 8 cylinders especially in torque numbers. There's only one way to do that and it's pushing air and fuel through the pistons. As reliable as the Toyota V6 boat anchor was it didn't produce a ton of power and got horrible gas mileage. The new 4 cylinders produce a lot more power I'm not sure why everyone thinks they should be getting a lot better gas mileage. I have the new Colorado and sold a supercharged V6 Toyota to buy it. I was sick of fighting the rust. That said the new Colorado has way more power and I can get 350 to 400 miles out of a tank as opposed to 200 in the Tacoma. Before I put on 33s I was easily getting 22 to 25 mpg mixed driving but bigger tires took a chunk out of that I might be getting 19 to 22 now.

    Rented a similar model 2024 Tacoma TRD at Hertz a few months ago. More city driving than highway and hit about that same mileage. Overall, not impressed…motor was unrefined, ride was nothing special, and seating position was too low.

    I'm ok with the 19.3 mpg. It's an offroad oriented truck. This mileage is totally acceptable with the ride height, aggressive tires, and gearing. (Of course, I'm used to getting that type of mileage on my pickups so...)

    Why don’t you use the gas pump to get your information on fuel economy? TRD off road I would expect the seat to be firm! Maybe a normal sized human would find the seat more comfortable? Most people would expect a review of an off road vehicle should be off road……. And you try to copy Tim’s sayings to much.
