This song turned my life around.

❤️💕 my daughter passed away a couple years ago when she was only 5 months old. This song makes me think of her. I use her loss as a way to become better. Not let it rip me down. I have 4 other babies that need me and that I need. But now I don’t take a second for granted. I try to be as patient as I can. Just a lot of little things that I believe better me. This song always helps me tho. It reminds me to open up to anyone who wants to listen because you don’t know what they are going thru and maybe by being able to relate, you can help both yourself and them

I remember coming home to find out my mother was in the hospital recovering from emergency surgery. I got into my car and raced towards the hospital, thinking "God, not now, that's supposed to be thirty years from now, it's too soon" ... then the realization hits that it doesn't matter if it's now or thirty years from now, it'll always be too soon. She stayed with us, and it's true, you never quite take things as much for granted after that. Particularly now, when that was over twenty years ago. There's never enough time left.

Last June when I had first found out that my mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, I went into a downward spiral & gave up with my battle with depression & got into a really dark place, & one day I was just playing my playlist of Toms music, & “I Wish” started playing & I just cried my eyes out. I immediately sent my mom the video link, as well when his song “Cancer” came out. The best track I’ve heard from Tom is “The Hard Way”. It’s only on his Album it doesn’t have a video. I just love that song. & he even said that he always signs off doing interviews with his saying “Tough Times Don’t Last, Tough People Do.” Which is a direct quote from that song. Which is the most impactful lyric that I can personally relate with.

This song touched me on many levels. From the point of view of someone who was once homeless... from the POV of someone who was told to "people watch" for my college writing class... from the POV of a writer who enjoys people watching and imagining the lives the people around me are living... realizing there is no way to really know the hardships people have gone through just be looking at them. And of course from the POV that we are all human.

This was a great one that hits the heart

This was the first Tom song I ever heard. It just hit different . I personally feel tom has a lot of punk vibes. Not just in his sound but the whole idgaf attitude in dropping the kind of songs he wants, and being non apologetic about it.

We talked about Real estate before, & this track is the reason why. I was in preforclosure & in 4 days they were going to take me to court, I was working 3rd shift, so during the day I was working the paperwork, & coming up with the $20k to pay off the 20 yr amortized 5 yr heloc, only a yr after paying the 1st mortgage ($60k), + I had to pay the lawyer fees of $2K. I found 'Castles' at the right time. This is where I first discovered Tom. Many find him in controversy, but this is where he found me. This track allowed me to pivot. Paid them off, kept the house, took a hit on the credit, but now I'm debt free since 2018. In 2019 studied real estate for 3 years, last month I finally jumped in. Mobile homes are small margins, 6 deals, and $7k, for wholesale. But I'll move into flipping once I have some cash on hand, then move into stick houses. Gotta start somewhere.

We must share some weird musical tick/ preference. I don't hate this chorus either. This is maybe his best writing for me. That line "everyone who ever lived had to climb out of a ditch they were in before they found the right path" is interesting cause like you said peaks and valleys - every story he tells in this, these people sound like they were happy/successful and fell back into a ditch. No one ever really talks about how life isnt just one struggle followed by continual happiness. It's a circular process. You can be on top of the world today and in a new ditch tomorrow. Really curious what you'll think about Tom's song "Famous" - I haaaate that autotune bs, but man I love that song. 💞

Love that Tom speaks facts in all of his songs! I was initially turned off by his political choices, won't get into specifics. But after hearing more and more of his catalog I have grown in love with him and his music. I love the face tat on his left side! The face that is rapping/singing along with him is dope AF!! He's got a very talented tattoo guy! Though I think the HOG on his chin could have been done much better. Did he have it done by fans, maybe?
