Most underrated thing about this song is the acting. Everyone notices the laugh, but his entire personality through the song is such a good suave devil/demon style, it is so amazing, and he does so many simple things to make it better, like he lets his face freeze with the emotionless grin just a little after the song ends before it cuts.

Yes, it was cathartic as hell. Knowing where Bo was mentally when he signed off for 5-6 years, He has come back so strong (I didn't see the movie he produced yet in that gap) with Inside. It was fun & funny, heartwarming and sad and introspective all at once. I laughed, I cried, I died a little inside, but there was a glimmer of the smile we all seek to make life worth facing.

I was rather late to the game sadly, only watched it for the first time this weekend and man. I went into it expecting to laugh, was NOT prepared for how much it made me think, and feel, and especially how much All Eyes On Me just wrecked me in the best way possible. It was arguably the least funny of Bo's comedy specials (not a knock, because it was still laugh out loud worthy), but it's something that will stick with me for a long, long time.

@@Atomic_Haggis It's also really changed my perspective of Make Happy, which almost feels like an open beta test of what Inside would become. He started at 16 on KZread! He grew up, grew famous by his online presence. Gifted, intelligent, introspective, and a VERY clever wordsmith. If you watch his shows in order, you will see the progression. Some of it will break your heart as you realize how much you find your own experiences mirroring his; not the specific experience per se as much as relating to his reaction to and subsequent artisic expression of his performance as he progresses through the work. And while he took a break from performing, he directed a special for Chris Rock and another comedian, created a series for MTV, wrote, cast, and directed a movie. THEN there was INSIDE, during which he turned 30. THIRTY, man. Cliff, I am twice his age. My SON turned me onto his work - and even in the teenage-male-offensive earlier stuff you can still see where he was heading, and how it all ended up where is is now, and why the trajectory of his work, even after having spent half his life entertaining us, is still just climbing. He is changing the conversations by showing us, with his own raw vulnerabilities, that we need to find a way to deal with our own. He lets us know that he gets us bc in many ways he IS a reflection of us. He even says that maybe one day it'll be him on the couch and us on his screen...and I personally cannot wait to see if, and how, people will respond to his request. (Just discovered you this week. Subbed, liked, gonna go explore your channel now.)

Just wanted to add that the line "your time is now, your inside's out" is a callback to the theme "Inside", but used in a different way. The idea of "inside" is threaded throughout the show, whether talking about physically being inside a room/house, but also "inside" of us. People raised in the age of information have been conditioned to metaphorically put what is inside their heads out into the world via the internet. They say everything they're thinking. Oversharing is the new intimacy. I've watched a lot of reaction videos to the songs in the show, and I haven't seen anyone point out yet how he creatively plays with the concept of "inside", both in a physical sense and in a figurative sense.

I love how the camera works throughout the song. In the beginning it’s slowly zooming in as Bo introduces you to the Internet and makes his sales pitch until eventually the camera starts cutting around like the pitch has gone out of control and then it slows down. The camera steadily zooms out as Bo recounts the watcher’s history with the Internet. After this, Bo laughs manically, showing the Internet’s “true face” as something evil. The camera zooms back in and the background lights up chaotically. The Internet is inescapable now. It draws you in and you can’t escape. That is the genius of Bo Burnham

I've always imagined the character he portrays in the song as one of those carnival barkers beckoning you to enter the Hall of Mirrors. The mirrors reflect every human desire, from the wholesome and tame to the perverse and profane. At the end, the mask comes off as he maniacally cackles at you because he knows that you the listener took the bait and now he's reeled you in, and you can now never escape no matter how much you want to.

It makes me so happy to see you liking and interested in Bo's content. I've been a big fan of musical comedy ever since I was really young. My older cousin showed me Weird Al when I was in like 4th or 5th grade and fell in love with the genre ever since. Glad you're reacting to and checking out his work! Much love AOD

Watching this through your eyes, Cliff... Bo is a complete headfuck the first time you watch any of his stuff but he's one of the best addictions to have! He's one of the most intelligent and articulate comedians I've ever seen and is on a par with Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Robin Williams and Billy Connolly with his comedy, but his creativity even surpasses theirs.

Totally agree with watching Bo's specials in chronological order - it makes "Inside" even more devastating. As part of that timeline, I'd include the first episode of season 2 of "The Green Room with Paul Provenza" from 2011 (there's at least one person who has uploaded the full episode, it was originally on Showtime). Bo didn't come up through standup the way the others did, starting first as a YT content creator, but he totally and completely holds his own against comedy veterans Ray Romano, Gary Shandling, Marc Maron, and Judd Apatow. Total sausage fest for the lack of women, but still an impressive episode.

As someone with depression and anxiety this special hit me in a certain way and it's a masterpiece that should win all kinds of awards this year.

Without making any comparisons between the two, the one he reminds me of is Tim Minchin in that they combine sharp wits with great musical proficiency. If you haven't heard Tim Minchin I would recommend checking out "Prejudice" by him. A personal favorite is F# though, but it can be painful to listen to for some people. A more recent one is I'll Take Lonely Tonight.

Bo is a genius. He is so smart, musically talented. His contend addictive. I love it so much. You should react to his standup but do it in order, you don't get the whole picture if you don't see it in order. Part for part is awesome, but in order it's pure art.

my second video watching you! (first was "all eyes on me") I love the way you handle these reaction videos. all of your input is to the point and you rewind (!!!) 5 sec after you pause to talk. makes everything go so much smoother and feels like youre really getting everything you can out of your first listen. defn hit that subscribe and am going to watch more burnham reactions. this netflix special is really the best performing art piece in 2021 imo and theres nothing else that comes close. love your input to all of this! hope you continue to see success :)

I'd definitely go with Can't Handle This, Left Brain Right Brain, From God's Perspective, Art Is Dead, and Rant (and all of his other songs, of course).

Im so happy that, this guy has the same amazement that I had when I hear his songs for the first time. Bo doesnt just make comedy, his songs have messages, big messages that give a sort of balance to the actual comedy side of it. I think Bo is a musical genius, his lyrics, the way he plays the piano, and the persona he puts up on stage while performing is really incredible.

YEAH DUDE! Welcome to the Bo Journey, I'm just about his age and remember watching his first youtube stuff when I was in highschool. The whole special 'Inside' was definitely super relatable for me. He's the master of mixing comedy, music, and hard hitting topics into the same song.

It starts off really light and a bit cheery, and just slowly becomes a little more devious and sinister as the camera slowly pans in on him. Then the camera angles start changing and he start listing all of the bad things you can do. When he slows down, one of the lines that gets me is: "The time is now, your insides out, honey how you grew". "your insides out": people share their most intimate personal feelings on the internet, and large corporations can see all of it. "honey how you grew": gen z (and now gen alpha) grew up with the internet; they've always had it. These massive corporations on the internet have literally watched these people grow up. From their parents posting pictures of them most of their lives, to getting their 1st phone at a super young age (using the I-pad at 2 like Bo says in the song) and sharing everything on social media. Then he says: "it was always the plan, to put the world in your hand". Your phone is connected to the internet, and a "world" of info is on the internet. Now people cant put it down. Then, the evil laugh comes in and you can see just how "evil" it really is.

If you do instrumental stuff, Trifonic is really interesting. His Ninth Wave album is crazy. I would love a reaction to the title track, because he does some stuff in that song (and many of his others) that I've never heard before, and really inspired some of the stuff I do in my music. He likes to cut up samples in a really precise, but chaotic-feeling way.
