Industrial plugs and sockets (ceeform) - How it's made factory tour

Ғылым және технология

Used across the world but with a multitude of names, IEC 60309 plugs and sockets are the workhorse waterproof electrical connectors for industrial electrical installations. We see inside the factory to find out the secrets of the new Lewden Palazolli XCEE range. See how they are made and why not all plugs and sockets are created equal.
Officially they are IEC 60309-2 1999 "plugs, socket-outlets and couplers for industrial purposes" - but in real life, you may know them by the manufacturer trade name - Commando sockets are the most common term in the UK from the range manufactured by MK. Mennekes plug, Marechal and Ceeform are also common manufacturer terms. Some people call them by the current rating e.g 16A plug, 32A plug - but they do go up to a massive 800 amps.
Or you may relate them to the application - caravan plug (blue 230V 16a) building site plug (yellow 110V)
We take a factory tour around the Palazolli factory and see the production process from raw metal and plastic to complete product.

“And it will come out looking like that!” I like that indication that it’s not overproduced :) Edit: not sure I’m a huge fan of making the 3 phase ceeform that has to be color coded red with a blue body (which is not a neutral color in this system) and just a red ring.

Wow, Jasper, you've got a keen eye for detail! - and agree we did question the blue + red combo.

One thing I notice especially the folk-lift driver. No high vis, no helmets and no eye shields. Mr Health and Safety would have a fit in the UK.

Keen eyes Steve - The fork lift drivers are probably more concerned about the robot pallet trucks!

Why would you need an eye shield when operating a forklift.

We named this in FR Germany a "Sendung mit der Maus". [Broadcast show with the mouse] It is for kids and adults to learn things. Thank you for show it us. Hopely you guys have had fun there. I wonder me only why do you not visited an UK factory inside Wales or Scotland? Why do you travel back to EU country Italy?
