To put this into perspective I’ve seen smaller trees stop speeding vehicles 70+mph and rip the car in pieces. This is true strength and this is a live mature tree.

I don’t think people understand just how amazing this video is.. the power is absolutely incredible!

That’s actually fucking terrifying to know they can do that. That’s not even a dead tree, it was alive and healthy, and the elephant still managed to snap it and bring it down by just rocking it for a few minutes.

Elephants are literally why the savanna exists. This behavior is the reason a lot of these areas are mainly grassland instead of dense forest. Humans aren't the only species that shape the world around them to create their own ideal environment.

It’s impressive but not as impressive as you think. The tree is tall and so is the elephant…so putting force higher on the tree like that can break it easier than if it was pushing at a lower level. The same force applied lower would not have yielded the same result. Simple physics really. The higher (height) the force is applied, the more force applied at the base.
