Thank you for sharing! One thing came to my mind... maybe it is even better to align the lens to infinity while attached to the camera before attaching the front cover to the lens again. This way the focus index might also be correctly aligned.

I read this on a forum and thought it would be useful to share here... Depending on your M39 adapter, you might be able to remove the threaded aluminium part by loosening three grub screws. This would allow you remove the threaded part, and then file away the necessary 1.5mm by hand. If you cut the back side of the aluminium ring, you could retain a nice finish at the front.

If you would like the ability to focus closer is it possible to remove one of the pins so the optical element cam travel further? I noticed that when the element is almost screwed loosely at max, you can achieve a macro-photography level of zoom.

Thank you for this tutorial. This was an absolute education. I'm 6 years late to this, but this helped me out immensely. I have a model that has an extremely stiff aperture ring. Are there any suggestions on cleaning and lubing? I have tried naphtha and it definitely loosens it up for a while, but at a certain point it hardens (especially in temperatures less than 23 degrees). Thanks for sharing your expertise.

Can you put that lens on a FED/Zorki cameras? I have seen a topic about it on Flickr and it seems like the image produced is almost a circle, which in my opinion could be a nice lomographic touch to the photos. But since the lens is made for the Chaika it would not be able to focus to infinity. Could you pls make a video about adapting it for old russian rangefinders (if it's even possible) Thank you!

Hi Roman. Im a bit confused. You said the lens gives 28mm focal length on crop sensors. Does that mean this lens is not a true 28mm lens? I know it has no rangefinder coupling, but if it is a true 28mm lens and with adjustment for infinity, could I zone focus this lens on a leica iif with a 28mm external viewfinder?

Hello Retro Foto House, Do you sell the modified ring, with 1.5mm removed, for infinity focus on the Industar-69? I bought an I-69 with modified ring from a dealer a few years ago. It was claimed that it gave infinity focus with the focus & aperture scale working properly. It does not focus further than a couple of metres & the adapter ring has been glued to the lens making further modification difficult. Fortunately I have another three of these lenses. I use one on an unmodified mount with an 8mm extension tube. It makes a great 'pocket macro' lens. However, I would like to use one of my I-69s as a standard pancake lens on my Sony a6000. Unfortunately I do not have access to a lathe so unless I can buy a modified ring I will have to carefully grind an adapter ring down with emery paper glued to some plate glass. Or something like that... Thank you for your time & consideration, fm. P.S. I had a look on your eBay store under "Lens adapters, mounts & tubes" but could not find these rings there. BTW, the link that you posted (9 months ago) above the comments section is no longer recognised by eBay.

I just bought two of these lenses and only one could be adjusted/modified to infinity without a dremel or a lathe. I tested both with my BMPCC original 1080 camera and to be honest they sucks both of them even the one adjusted to infinity. So unless you want really soft footage stay away from this lens.
