Induction Cooker Comparison on Lithium Batteries and 12V Inverter
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
We have come up with this cool design for a fridge cabinet with pull out table, the next step is to have a modular induction cooker at the end. But the question is, what will he’s suit our needs. We buy in a NuWave, Westinghouse, Eurochef, and Safiery and give them a test with our lithium battery setups

Shame you missed the concept of induction cooking comparisons. induction cooking is the reaction between a coil and the ferrous material ie A POT. that fact that you did not use the same ferrous material says you do not understand the concept :( I love to see an apples for apples comparison.
Safiery seems good, and that’s good because that’s what our next van will have in it. Cheers for the info.
Thanks Dave. I thought these things were all more or less the same and was liking the look of the Westinghouse but after watching your tests ordered a Safiery.
Best part about induction you can cook in any weather conditions
I really appreciate this video. I currently have a Rivian R1S and it has awesome built in 110W outlets, so looking for some induction options. It’s crazy how “little” of the propulsion battery is used when cooking. It takes a lot more to move the vehicle than it does to warm food. Love your fridge set up too.
Can’t help but notice why you are talking about the Westinghouse pulsing on and off, the video shows the safiery doing the exact same towards the end. I’ve also noticed over the years that different pans make a difference to heat and power output of the cooktop
Good job & great vid guy’s. I think you should do ur comparison using the same type frypan and you should measure the total watts used by each induction top for a more accurate picture of which is more efficient. Watching amps vs volts is good for a quick picture, but total watts used is a common medium. The time should also be measured against each unit to cook a similar portion each, & this will probably vary according to cooking styles & temps used as well. It was good to see a comparison of 4 induction cookers & how they perform. Thanks
Another good test would be testing different pans on the one cooker to see current draw ect, as I know different pans can give different results on a 240v induction top

Hence the tests are not anywhere near accurate since they are doing comparisons with an Aluminium pan (with a small steel insert) and a Stainless Pan (less good than a proper steel pan/pot). My experience is some pans are very good and others are not.
I got a Kmart induction off a mate for nothing when I got my patrol and it’s been brilliant. Never had it over 1200w for cooking
Great test, one thing I've discovered, different pans have different thickness base which makes a difference to how they heat up and how they hold their heat (the cycling in and out) I notice you were using different pans so would not be comparing apples to apples Sorry I have IKEA induction cooktops, they are cheap and have heat settings 1 to 9, very basic, but easy and they just work, like one of those you had Keep up the good work, bring on some more y62 trips please

Well done guys great test surprising results Oscar
Which of these will cook with a small pan or pot, i have the westinghouse induction unit but it wont work with my small 12cm diameter Bellman coffee maker
interesting you mention levelling. after using an induction for years, having a portable unit ( not fixed) allows us to position it so its level and totally away from the vehicle, so the pan doesn't slide off and cooking splatter/smoke is less of an issue.
I love the cost breakdown 🤣🤣🤣 $30 butane to $100 induction but 3k to run it. Steve’s giggle cracked me up 😂 awesome job lads ✌️

Great vid can help me please i have 3 house battery cheap 4000 sine wave inverter cant get my induction hob to work ,But works of land line power .Hob lights up
Great video. I have the Ikea induction hob. Continually switches on (rapidly heats up) the switches off. Can really achieve a steady constant temperature. Did the Nuwave and the Sifiry also switch on and off?

Yeah, especially the Safiery
Cordia and Hyundai N - not bad Dave!
I got a nuwave induction cooker at the Goodwill shop for $6. It was like brand new. Best thing ever for pasta. Just set the temp slightly below boiling and no boilovers.
Qe use the NUWAVE in the caravan and at home its great cause you can move it around and very easy to use. Never going back to gas again.
Dave - have you talked about the bit of kit that joins your 2 DCS batteries together? I had always understood non similar makups and non similar ah/capacities shouldnt be joined. Can you do a vid on the Victron that combines these?

On the Westinghouse you were cooking using temperature setting. Does it still cycle on and off with a power level set by wattage? And how big is the simmer circle in a thin pan?
Dave, I may have missed it. But where did you get that shelf from for the safiry? Also, the slide out under the fridge in Steve’s car. What brand is that?

i found cooking on low with a lid wooks well. Thats what I do when camping, helps keep the heat in the food and goes golden brown.
Would it be better with a cast iron pan? Or don't they work so well on induction?.

From safiery on the Gold Coast QLD.
Not sure how much it matters, but my Westinghouse unit has a warning label that states NOT to use it on a metal surface.
@yeahbutnah1
Жыл бұрын
The reason for that is because the magnetic field generated to heat the pan can be dissipated to a (Steel) surface below it, causing the metal surface to also be heated, SOME stainless steel benchtops would be ok, but others would not, most of the portable units should sit tall enough to be ok, but best is to place them on top of a cutting board or something similar.
I worked in a Westinghouse power plant and we had the slogan... Westinghouse... you can get better but you can't pay more.
The different pans make a huge difference too. You will also find the inductions coils of the different stoves are the most important factor. If it is only a 6” coil, it could buckle your pans, as the centre heats up much quicker than the rest of the pan. That is why your steak will always brown in the centre of the pan and not to the side of the pan.
FYI, Ghee is clarified butter which means it starts as butter but it is processed to only leave the fat/oil. Big in Indian cuisine. It isn't the healthiest of oils.

@@DASHOffRoad I sold mine years ago to some guy in Adelaide. I put a 4G63 in it 😎 it was a little weapon.
I think I'd still prefer something like the Jetboil basecamp, way better than those cheap butane cookers and spare propane is easy to carry, not having to lay out thousands on a power system to be able to run it is nice as well. I really like the design of that cooker attachment 😉.
How long were you cooking for? Steve's unit used over a quarter of its juice (26%) to fry the 2 batches of barramundi. The slide out shelf and cooktop/sink attachment combo look neat!
@DASHOffRoad
Жыл бұрын
That would probably be about right. Without driving and recharging the battery you would probably only get 4-5 cooks from a 100ah battery I reckon
i cant see how you can set the watts and temp otherwise you would set the temp at the highest with the lowest wattage, and we all know more temp needs more watts
Problem with gas cooktop: when inside the van there is danger of gas poisoning, when outdoor need to shield from the wind.
wattage equals temperature u cant separate
ghee, after coco the best !
the pans should have been the same
That Nuwave looks like a disaster waiting to happen if something spills or boils over.

Just back from a week in VHC and totally fed up with useless PoS butane cooker. Tried different ones and this was the best so far but still doesn't hold high temp and completely useless in any wind. Having already invested in an inverter to run a coffee machine, induction cooker definitely looking attractive.
