I grew up in Jakarta and my mother had an entire greenhouse full of orchids. They were so beautiful, and she could find so many different kinds. Now my family lives in the Northeast USA and my mom still has a few orchids, but they just don't do as well. Indonesia is truly a magical place for growing tropical plants. Next time I'm back visiting my grandmother I'm going to have to stock up her apartment with all of my dream plants!

See if you can get a greenhouse/sunroom where you live. Sometimes a bit of science hack and you can create conditions for your tropical plants.

@@onlyplants My mom does have her orchids in a sunroom! I'm so glad I found your channel. I have been missing Indonesia and my family there. Because of COVID I haven't been back to visit since 2018. Your channel reminds me of there and all of the natural beauty of Indonesia!

Denphals are not Dendrobium x Phalaenopsis hybrids. They are named after Dendrobium bigibbum, which was formerly/synonymously Dendrobium phalaenopsis. It's the parent plant that all Denphal hybrids have in common (though most at this point are multigenerational complex hybrids), which is why they all have the same cane/leaf structure, and why they all flower out the top of the cane. If you look at pure species Dendrobiums, they are all different shapes and sizes actually. Dendrobium Nobile and Dendrobium Kingianum hybrids are two other big parent groups that dens come in, and have different structures reflecting their respective parents.

What a wonderful nursery with so much varieties and big plants, big tree fern, big homalomena, OMG thanks a lot for this lovely nursery visit also for introducing anthurium polyschistum. Lots of lovely variegated plants too!!! Wow. Happy that u got that beautiful musa and I think anthurium polyschistum 😊

Love your passion with plants. It is infectious Titan Arum (12.56) grow wild in Penang where I come from. A while back I plucked a few and put them in my garden, but unfortunately they did not survive. Their stem is delicate and can easily bend. Watching them growing beautifully in your video and has encouraged me to try again when I get back to Penang.

The only thing I thought of when you showed the dragon looking plant was to put those wiggle eyes on each leaf lol. I want one now! Also, I always thought syngoniums are boring but I didn't know they split like that when matured! That's beautiful. I learn something new from you again.

So much to digest here and I just started my craze on Orchid for its foliage and roots because of your last orchid video. My other current crazes are aglaonema (that sexy pink stems) and caladium. That 10:43 with babies, second time saw that and would like to just grab it home. Plant on 33:17 is Pellionia Repens (wishlist) and plant on 38:58 is Cypress Vine (Malaysia called it, "Bunga Rincik Bumi" currently growing these from seeds).

I’m glad you told to google the flower. What an interesting plant that arum is and flower is so prehistoric looking. Stunning. Thanks for introducing me to the amazing plant!

I really enjoy watching your videos, Shaun. Just like you, I love plants and find a lot of beautiful weeds everywhere! 😝 I was born in the desert but I moved north, to the U.S. and now I’m surrounded by all types of plants.. and weeds. First time I was taken to a lake in the middle of Dallas, Tx. I literally started getting emotional seeing SO MUCH GREEN!! and WATER!! 🥺 I couldn’t believe how beautiful everything was, including the local fauna and migratory birds. ❤️ Btw.. Great video! 25:28 That's a Rangoon Creeper or Akar Dani. The flowers are fragrant and the plant has medicinal benefits. Pretty easy to grow

Was hoping you’d buy a variegated banana...stunning!! Enjoyed the tour immensely. I don’t see many of these plants at my local nurseries and especially in larger sizes. Hope you do have your own nursery one day!

A variety of Titam Arun is found in Western Ghats of India quite in abundance. The sprout on the onset of monsoon and die at the end of monsoon 4 months later... Most of them I have seen flowering but not sure when u say it takes 12 years to bloom. Some varieties are really big, about 10 feet at times... they are huge. The florescence is thick and about 1 and half feet. Surprise to see them in nursery for sale.

Amazing plants! I wish you would show us that alocasia sumo on the right, at the beginning. And anthurium with humongous leaves 😍

The one plant under the bench at 33:40 is a Procris repens (also known as Pellionia repens). It's a great trailing plant from the nettle family that comes in many varieties! :) Great video!

Need that Zamia! I also don't mind walking through an orchid nursery without blooms. It's just like all the other plants!

You walked past my favourite plant the shop the Australian Fan Palm Tree (licuala ramsayi) it was a small baby on the floor. My 3 next favourites on your tour were the unnamed lovely batik and sage green soft neon plant, with the amber baby leaves growing out of the lower planters. The two tone pink flowering vine was glorious and I agree the translucent, wavy, jewel like forms on the philodendron plowmanii black face narrow form are a knockout. The lace like vine at (39 min) reminds me very much of a astonishing plant some kids showed me in Tutong, Brunei, called “Malu” locally. When you touch it’s leaves it suddenly folds together, hence the name=shy. Nice to hear you have a passion for collecting more indigenous Indonesian plants. I loved the orchids in your haul now that is root porn. I would have loved some lingering closeups of that and on the petals of the batik like orchid, omg so beautiful. Thank you for your tour. I hope your tubers went well?

You should talk your dad into letting him plant that variegated banana in his yard! Most beautiful variegation ever. Maybe under partial sun it won't get burnt as a easily?

The plants with dots on the body , in phillipines they have also on Mindoro place , they call it Tumbong ,if the leaves are Close they will cook on the vegetable of the body of that plants

Beautiful !!! every little/big flower/plant is so beautiful, I would never be able to decide what I would bring home hehe.. But orchids? ah, no, they hate me, I guess... I treat them like little angels.. but they.. well, they die lol tc buddy.

thanks for making this video! I love going to the nursery. Don't cut off the orchid spike, it will bloom again or when the flowering is over, you can apply keiki aste to the nodes on the spike to induce keiki growth there.
