I rocked my daughter to sleep every night for the first year of her life to this. She is seventeen now, and we saw Indigo girls live together a few weeks ago. When they started playing Galileo, we held each other and rocked back and forth all the way through. It was one of the most profound moments of my life.

I went to my first indigo girls concert because a friend had an extra ticket. It was the Rites of Passage tour. I had never heard of them before. I was hooked. During a particularly difficult era of my life the Indigo Girls music and community quite literally saved my life. I saw them 9 or 10 times over the years. It was Always a positive, uplifting experience. Today I’m a 60 year old happy, contented man. But I never would’ve made it this far without finding the music of Indigo Girls. Thank you Amy and Emily.

This one and “Closer to Fine” are my favorite Indigo Girls songs. I got to see them perform back in 1987 at Manuel’s in Atlanta, before either song was released. They were just beginning to make a name for themselves, and my date and I had never even heard of them. That night it was like my world exploded. I’d never heard music so profound and beautiful, and haven’t heard anything like Amy and Emily since.

I was originally introduced to the Indigo Girls as a senior in high school. Two dear friends of mine were avid fans and convinced me, one cold winter night, to listen to this song. I was hooked after that. In the 13 years that have passed, we've each gone our separate ways. But every time I hear this song, it reminds me of that friendship and how much I cherished it. Remembering the three of us singing three part harmony on it and the disbelief on everyone's faces is priceless. Thank you.

When I first heard this song, I didn't think much of it, but added it to a playlist anyway, because my mom liked it. I found it back yesterday when shuffling my playlist randomly. As soon as I heard it, I thought of long car rides out west in the mountains and over the long stretches of flat land between. It makes me want to cry for an inexplicable reason. I love it so much 😭

I laughed out loud unexpectedly the first time I heard the "king of night vision" line the first time I heard this song. It kinda comes out of nowhere, and it's at least a little bit corny, I think...Now I uncontrollably weep for 90% of the entire song every single time I play it. Hard to pinpoint a reason, I've also found. I'm no reincarnationist...I know the tears come from the cathartic feeling it arises in me. I think it's a pure unadulterated expression of the beautiful mystery of the human condition. That's my reason, I guess. I dunno. Because of the subjective nature of transcedent beauty, it's hard to define or express to anyone. You just know it when ya experience it, whatever "it" is for you personally...Anyway, thanks for enriching my life, ladies.

You really hit the nail on the head with this post. For some reason I was thinking about all the songs that they used to play at my first job (a department store in the summer of '92 through '95) and this one was the 3rd or 4th one I looked up and listened to this morning. I remember us back in the stockroom making fun of the "King of night vision" line even back then. What I didn't remember....what totally caught me off guard just now was the rest of the song and the emotion it brought fourth in me 28 years later (My God where has the time gone?!). It is incredibly insightful and really a damn good song. But I am having a hard time explaining to myself just why I had to wipe my eyes and face before typing this comment!

This had always been one of those songs that I either sit quietly & listen to, or sing at the top of my lungs. I have cried.... Closer to Fine makes me cry now that I’m older. Mom of an adult, parents dead, 11 surgeries, defeated cancer, a million losses it seems of loved ones..... it gets me. But I’m grateful I’m alive with a great hubby & son. That’s what makes me Closer to Fine.

There’s a moment in the video that really gave away what this song is about, at least my interpretation of it. It happens quick, right at the 1:41 mark, immediately following the line “how long till my soul gets it right?”, she looks up real quick exposing a quick flash of anger, like she is sarcastically posing this previous lyric’s question to god…because she feels like she’s doing a pretty good job and she doesn’t know what else to do, presumably. And I concur with her conclusion on that and commiserate with that exact feeling captured on her face-a slightly disgusted anger at having to ask the question in the first place-in that quick instant. 1:41. I love that moment. Seeing that and recognizing what I think was going on in that moment-I see it every time now. I wait for it. I rewind it and watch it again and again. It happens so quick. Take a look for it. 1:41.

We brought our daughter and her Mount Holyoke College friends to an Indigo Girls concert about six years ago. Watching them run up to the stage near the end to dance to the music was a beautiful moment. I bought my first Indigo Girls cassette (yup) in the 80s. Closer to Fine. Loving that this song, and Closer to Fine, is still inspiring all women everywhere.

“Now I’m serving time for mistakes, made by another in another lifetime....” Interesting words. They apply very directly to today’s social climate. In a way a lot of people probably don’t want to admit.

Clash Royale is a tower rush video game which pits players in games featuring two or four players (1v1 or 2v2) in which the objective is to destroy the most opposing towers, with the destruction of the "King's Tower" being an instantaneous win.[9] After three minutes, if both of the players/teams have an equal number of crowns or none at all the match continues into a 2-minute overtime period and the player who destroys an opposing tower wins instantaneously. If no towers are destroyed during overtime, there is a tiebreaker where all towers rapidly lose health, and the tower with the least health is destroyed. If the two towers with the lowest health have the same health, there is a draw.[10] After an update in late 2018, leaving a 2v2 match multiple times prevents the player from playing 2v2 with random players for some time. In Clash Royale, players are ranked by their number of trophies. Players level up by gaining Experience (or King Level) points through donating and upgrading cards. The highest possible level is level 14. As of the October 2021 update, players also receive Star Points when gaining experience, which can be used to give their cards an updated visual skin, usually gold in color. There are up to three Star Levels for each card, which are unlocked when the card is leveled up to level 7 (for level one Star Level), level 10 (for Star Level 2) and level 13.[11] Trophies are won or lost through multiplayer battles, a player wins a battle by destroying more towers than the opponent (each destroyed tower being represented as a 'crown'), or by destroying the opponent's King's Tower, resulting in an automatic "three-crown" victory, commonly described as being "three-crowned". (unless the King's Tower was destroyed at the same time by both players, resulting in a draw, however this is nearly impossible). There are fifteen playing arenas in total (excluding the tutorial arena, Training Camp): Goblin Stadium, Bone Pit, Barbarian Bowl, P.E.K.K.A's Playhouse, Spell Valley, Builder's Workshop, Royal Arena, Frozen Peak, Jungle Arena, Hog Mountain, Electro Valley, Spooky Town, Rascal's Hideout, Serenity Peak, and Legendary Arena, with each arena corresponding to a certain trophy range. Leagues were introduced in March 2017. Upon reaching 5000 Trophies (Legendary Arena), players compete in leagues: Challenger I, II, III; Master I, II, III; Champion, Grand Champion, Royal Champion, and Ultimate Champion. After the end of each season, the player is reset to half of the trophies they gained above 5000 trophies. There are various game modes that the player can play aside from 1v1 or 2v2. These alter the game in some way, including by changing the elixir generation speed, having various troops spawn throughout the game, drafting (Players are given a choice to pick between some cards at the beginning of a match. In the normal Draft, the player chooses four cards, while they get 4 from their opponent. In Triple Draft, cards that aren't chosen by either player will not be in use at all.), auto-selected decks, and more.

Intelligent talented women, utterly innovative and underrepresented. The lyrics to this song are bardic, and I would have given anything to have shared that bottle of beer and talked about our possible transmigration from soul to soul. May Galileo Galilei continue to guide you in his night visions, smart ladies.

Nope, it's the actual Jackson Browne, the Pretender, Late for the Sky Jackson Browne. I'm surprised you can't tell by his voice. But if you watch one of the live versions where they're on tv doing Galileo, he's on stage singing background with them. Maybe on Letterman? I don't remember 100%.

bob christopher It's the actual Jackson Browne! If you can't tell by his voice there's a video with them singing it live on Jay Leno's Tonight Show in 1992. JB is right there on stage singing backups. The video is mixed in with the other Galileo ones.

Why have I never heard of them, they are good! And he said, yeah, but they're um.. not models.. so they'll never be that popular. He was a sage.
