The money comes from TV advertisements. Companies spend over $3,000,000,000 a year on ads played during college football games.

Football (Gridiron) is rhe most popular sport in the US. College Football is the original level of the sport. When the NFL came along NCAA Football was 50 years old.

College football has an entirely different type of energy that can rarely be matched by any other sport. It's one of those things you can never explain, just feel. Love the channel guys! Thank you for another video!

7:44 This is the Florida State Seminoles, my favorite team. Twenty years ago the governing body of college football banned the use of Native Americans as mascots but FSU was given an exemption because the Seminole Tribe of Florida supported the team keeping the name. The student riding the horse represents Chief Osceola who lead the Seminoles in their wars against the US. The clothes he wears to each game are made by women of the Seminole tribe. Students who attend FSU also take mandatory history classes covering the history of Native Americans.

Gator fan here but will always defend FSU & their chant/symbols. They've done a wonderful job with respecting traditions, education, outreach, etc. This is doing the mascot (though I hate that word because it brings up a stuffed animal type picture) properly.

There are a few "American Football Rules Explained" videos. Watching one of those 10 minute videos, you could watch a game and completely understand it. There are a lot of potential penalties/violations but the basis is this. The field is divided into 10 x 10 yard (little smaller than a meter) segments. Each of those 10 yard segments are broken in their own 10 x 1 yard segments to make it easy to track. When a team is on "offense" its a lot like chess. You take a turn. That turn is divided into 4 downs. A down is setting the ball down and starting a play. So the offense team gets 4 plays to make 10 yards. If they don't get a collective 10 yards, the ball switches to the other team. If they get 10 yards, the downs reset back to 1st down and the 4 downs start again. The goal is move it 10 yards, get a new set of downs, over and over and get the ball to the opponents endzone. Carrying the ball or catching the ball in the opponents endzone is worth 6 points. You then get a chance to kick the ball through the uprights in the endzone for an "extra point". You can also end a drive of downs at any time and try to kick it through the uprights for 3 points. Scoring any way then gives the ball to the other team and they get to to try. The ball goes back and forth and the team with the most collective points at the end of 4 x 15 minute quarters wins. Unlike Association Football, we play 4 quarters instead of 2 halves and the action does not constantly move. Its stop and go. Association Football is a game of endurance with lots of running/jogging. American Football is played in all out bursts, one down at a time. Go as hard as you can, all of the time, rest 30 seconds, go again. Offense or Defense = 11 people on the field per team. A different group plays offense than who play defense and a different group does special teams (kicks). A team is 52 players but only 11 play at a time. How do they get so much money? The games are all televised nationwide and the networks pay big money to be able to televise the games. Ticket sales and merchandise sales pay a pretty penny too! But the biggest teams make hundreds of millions of dollars annually, in exchange for giving the players a free education and a chance to audition their talents to go to the Professional League (NFL).

In terms of number of teams, sure. In terms of popularity, TV viewers and revenue NFL comes out on top. The top 100 most watched TV programs in the US last year, 93 were NFL games, one was the State of the Union, one was the Macy’s Parade, the other five were college football games.

“How do they get so much money?” Three ways. First, TV broadcast rights. College football is the second most popular TV product behind only professional football. TV networks pay hundreds of millions of dollars a year for the right to broadcast the games and each school gets a cut. Second, ticket and merchandise sales. The biggest schools make tens of millions a year just selling merchandise with the team logo on it. Finally, boosters. Booster are people who donate money to the school’s athletic program. Some colleges get more money from boosters than anything else, like the ones in Texas which are flooded with money from oil company executives.

Just an average Saturday afternoon on 100's of college campuses across America between August and December. Understand though, only 1.6% of college players go on to player in the NFL. College football is far older than the NFL, and the traditions and rivalries go a long way back, some over 150 years. Football in America is a religion, not a sport. Your Narendra Modi Stadium holds 132,000 people, but in America there are 8 college stadiums that hold over 100,000. But the biggest sports arena in America is the Indianapolis Speedway (for car racing) which can hold over 400,000 people.
