Indiana Jones Trilogy - Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN)
Ойындар
The Nerd dons his leather hat and whip, and delves into the holy grail of bad video games, as he looks at a collection of games based on the Indiana Jones film series, made for the Atari 2600, NES and SNES. This is Angry Video Game Nerd episode 48.
Indiana Jones. A pop-culture icon and legend. One of the first heroes for generations of nerds worldwide. Originally released in 1981, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark was a smash success. With Harrison Ford in the lead hot off the Star Wars Trilogy and George Lucas teaming up with Steven Speilberg it was a perfect storm for a phenomenon.
Naturally, the franchise would get a video game treatment to capitalize on the success of games and the movies at the time. In this installment, the Nerd reviews to Atari 2600's very cryptic and surprisingly dense Raiders of the Lost Ark game.
With the continued success of the movies the sequels also got 8 bit renditions. We also take a look at the Temple of Doom on NES, as well as the Last Crusade for NES. There is some hope as the Nerd ends with a mini-review of the SNES Indiana Jones Trilogy which finally gets the platform version right.

@Moist Boner um... twerking has been around for more than three decades. It originated in the club scene of the 1980s. The whip, by contrast, came around the mid-2010s, even a little bit _after_ Miley Cyrus' infamous twerking incident with Robin Thicke. And it also has nothing to do with making a whipping motion. "Whip" is a slang term for a car.

Well, to me IJ IV has the issue than SW VII - if you forget what franchise they belong too, they are fine movies. But when you consider them as the latest addition of their franchise, they are disappointing. They have different problems, but there is one terrible thing they have in common : they rely way too heavily on their predecessors using "hommage" scenes. I am going to watch IJ or SW to watch an IJ or SW movie, not to feel like I am looking at the family album with a nostalgic feeling ! And yet this is the feeling I had about both of these films.

Now I don't feel so bad that I kept getting stuck playing the "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" game as a kid. It was way too complicated for a simple Atari game. Thanks for showing all the stuff I missed back in the day.:-)

Still watching these, still loving these. Getting me through the day.
It took me a month to beat Raiders on the Atari 2600. Every day, a friend of mine would give me tips and pointers on the school bus each morning. Looking back, I often wonder, "How the hell did he figure any of it out on his own?
The Atari Indiana Jones game is made by the same guy who made E.T, Howard Scott Warshaw.

I can understand what Lucas and Spielberg were going for in Crystal Skull as a 50s B science fiction movie. Too bad the story and special effects didn’t fit the characters or series.
This was by far one of his funniest videos. I was laughing so hard I felt like I was doing crunches 😂
that atari version was innovative as fuck -- unfortunately, too innovative, making it insanely confusing especially for a kid in the 80s with no internet to help

To beat the Atari one you have to use a parachute on the screen where you're falling and go into a trap door on the side. That takes you to a room where you can't see anything and you just have to figure out the pattern to navigate thru it. I can't remember after that though. That was very long ago.
