This movie was not that bad, the worst part was the nuclear blast but other than that I really liked the story. It truly fits the theme of the 1950s compared to the others of the 1930s era. Multidimensional beings, telepathy & psychic abilities, Russians vs. Americans, Eisenhower, greasers. This had everything.

Indiana's line, "I Like Ike" (also visible on the bomb above the test town) uses the popular slogan created by Peter G. Peterson (Commerce Secretary for Richard Nixon) for the "Draft Eisenhower movement" in 1952, the first political draft to persuade a private citizen (Dwight D. Eisenhower) to run for the Presidency. When filming the scene where Indiana drives a truck through a wall, things did not go as planned. Timed explosives were used, but one explosive did not go off, and landed in the seat next to Harrison Ford. During the Hangar 51 scene, the theme for the Ark of the Covenant from Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) is heard when the Ark makes its brief appearance. Translation from Russian to English My Precious Catch up him! Catch up him! Catch up him! Catch up! Catch up him faster! Quickly he is not to get out of here alive! Block the exits!

Years and years and years of friendship, trust and adventure tossed out the window in an instant. It's just as bad as what they did to Tyrion in the final season of GoT, where this brilliant man became an idiot. Ruining characters and character dynamics for shock and awe is never good writing.

We did, actually. LEDs were "invented" a few times, the earliest by British engineer H.J. Round in 1907, and dot matrix displays like this were used in (very expensive) lab equipment by 1951 (the dot matrix displays were later replaced with cheaper seven-segment displays). This movie takes place in 1957, so they'd have been around for a while by then.

At 1:39, that's when I knew there was going to be a problem with the film. I always loved the sound of Indy's bullwhip. In the teaser trailer, at this point, the whip sounds loud and sharp. So, I was pretty disappointed being in the movie theater, and as this scene was coming up, Indys running on the top of the boxes, he grabs his whip, and I'm saying, "Let me hear that whip. Let me hear that whip." And 1:39 comes up, you can barely hear it. It sounds like a stick hitting metal with the sound of the stupid bullets flying by. Yeah. If I calmly analyze what doesn't make these scenes work, it's that there is to much happing in 4 minutes film. That makes it unrealistic. Indy seems unbreakable and taps everyone on the face without any effort. Exactly something we didn't see in Raiders. Each fight was long, painfully full of setbacks. Think of the bar fight in Nepal or the flying wing fight in Egypt. It's a huge mistake by Steven and Lucas.

When you realize that Indy and that Russki inadvertantly helped out the Space Program by being stuck on the Rocket Sled.
This was the best scene in the film - felt closest to the original series. The cinematography was also better than the remainder of the film where the backdrops just looked distractingly fake.
I think this movie is underrated. Lucas and Spielberg were trying to change it up to be more like a pulpy sci-fi b movie then an adventure serial. It didn’t work everywhere (particularly the fridge) but I think it’s a fun movie and I appreciate that Lucas and Spielberg were trying to do something different.

2:45 Epic fight scene!
I’m still thoroughly convinced the internet were way too hard on this movie when it released. I like it, and I know other people who like it. Ford still brings his A Game, the cast has a lot of good actors in it, and it’s clearly made by most of the same creative talent (which Dial of Destiny was somewhat missing).
You know what the more i watch this the more i like it, and that's not me forcing myself to like it either because im in love with the franchise, apart from the aliens this film has brilliant pop ups and that nostalgia about it, even tho it was 15 years ago. This entire scene is amazing
The thing with Mack's character really broke my heart. The film's excuse for his motivation to do that was lame. Years and years and years of friendship, trust and adventure tossed out the window in an instant. It's just as bad as what they did to Tyrion in the final season of GoT, where this brilliant man became an idiot. Ruining characters and character dynamics for shock and awe is never good writing.

@Derision667

The scene with ark of the covenant
Say what you will about this movie. But it has the best use of the whip out of ALL the films. Indy runs along the crates, whips the rafter and misses his mark...😂
Yeah. That was when I knew the movie wasn't going to be all that. It's okay. It could have been better.
I gotta say this was a good movie that fell apart at the 3rd act

If I calmly analyze what doesn't make these scenes work, it's that there is to much happing in 4 minutes film. That makes it unrealistic. Indy seems unbreakable and taps everyone on the face without any effort. Exactly something we didn't see in Raiders. Each fight was long, painfully full of setbacks. Think of the bar fight in Nepal or the flying wing fight in Egypt. It's a huge mistake by Steven and Lucas.
