I think a big reason I enjoyed Crystal Skull more than a lot of people is because I didn’t grow up with the movies. I had heard of Indiana Jones as a kid but didn’t see any of the movies until my teens or early twenties. So that movie (or Dial of Destiny) has the advantage of not having to live up to childhood nostalgia. Honestly, I just need to have a fun time; I don’t need it to be Great Cinema. If it’s fun, the movies a success for me.

@@worlddd7777 no, I’m saying that there’s an enormous amount nostalgia with household names like Indiana Jones, so fans are going to have much higher expectations for a new Indiana Jones movie as opposed to a movie or a sequel from a lesser known/loved franchise. You can’t compete with nostalgia. Expectations will never be met. Time changes and so do movies and the way they were made. Crystal Skulls isn’t a bad movie. It’s my least favorite of the four but it isn’t too far behind Temple of Doom. Were there things I didn’t like? Sure. Too much CGI for me. I also didn’t like certain things done in Temple and Crusade too. Temple of Doom has not aged well and The Last Crusade has some really corny scenes. So they literally went and got "the guy", and put him to work on this movie. So I can't for a minute think that it's bad. Apparently it's a 25 minute scene. At some point, you're just going to get used to how it looks and get drawn in. Plus, apparently also this is a brand new technique that they haven't tried before to this extent.

Let me break it down to the easiest way to explain this movie. If this movie cant stand side to side with raiders or last crusade then it never should have been made. People dont want to dollar store version of a character they love. Saying well its not great and its not what fans wanted says everything people need to know. This movie will end up losing buckets of money, because instead of giving fans what they really wanted. They gave us garbage and said like it or else...well, guess what. I went in making every effort not to have my expectations, and with that got the proper balance of action and emotion that were appropriate for Indy at this stage in his life, that went well along the lines of Spielberg missing, as well as his trademark chaotic action - it was still there, and it had me on the edge of my seat, but I have to be critical to those who came in with the exact same appetite for 37-year-old Indy action, who wouldn’t make way for more weight to be given to the emotional side of it. An awesome send off for Indy.

Do I personally think this film will be the same, am thinking yes Because of the negative press, people will actually enjoy it with low expectations. This only came down over time and it only went down to 77% on RT CS and It took awhile to get down to 50% audience score.. It's fact that most people changed their initial review from its an ok film to its status today. How many today of those professional reviews would change their mind if they could review again today, bet it wouldn't be sitting at 77% on RT. .

This movie just released on digital today. Every review I’ve watched so far says this movie is trash. Yours is the first positive review I’ve seen. I realize that there are a lot of people who have it out for Disney for various reasons which may or may not be justified. I too just want an enjoyable Indy movie one more time! Something to make me forget about all the crazy bullshit for a couple of hours. I’m gonna give it a chance thanks to your 7 star review. Unfortunately at this point the ending has already been ruined for me but I’ll just imagine the directors ending during the credits! 😉looking forward to John Williams score! Thanks for the review!!

When I was a kid, my parents were going to take me and my brother to the movies to see what just came out. Of course, if you are older like me, you mostly saw trailers attached to other movies. Otherwise, you learned of movies through word of mouth or a review in the paper. I hadn’t even heard of this movie. Also, back then, there was the odd photo you could see of what we now call an anomaly on Mount Ararat. Many believed at the time, me included, that it was the Lost Ark of Noah. For whatever reason, I didn’t want to go. So, I asked, what was the movie about? My mom told me, it was some people looking for the Lost Ark of Noah… I protested, they found it! It is on that mountain! So a race to find some large thing on a mountainside? What was the movie called? Raiders of the Lost Ark I don’t think I will ever go in with such low expectations for a movie and be blown away with one of the best movies ever made. I have always loved this franchise.

You sir, @k2sworld are a fucking blind dunce. As a fan of Indiana Jones and his cinematic legacy, fan of all the comics, merchandise and fandom I get such a kick out of. People do genuinely love this character and are inspired or have been inspired in some fashion to persue the good, the heroic which Indy, as faulty as he may be sometimes, truly stands for. Relegating him to not only sidekick status, but: An old, sore, broken, alcohol dependant, divorced Dad to a dead son who is: ONLY to be upstaged by a smarmy, unearned self assured, cocky, ‘better than you because look how strong I am!’ gratingly obnoxious female “adventurer” WITH an equally annoying little boy she “adventures” with is beyond disgraceful to this wonderful character & his aforementioned legacy. If that newly released ‘tug at the heartstrings, nostalgia baited, swellingly epic & classically scored ’cobbled together promo video of all that were involved in this garbage “proper Indy send off” was actually sincere? Then every one of those people who said something in the video, from Kennedy, to Mangold, to Ford (to anyone putting up any money for this film attempt) should KNOW goddamn well what fans want to see. You know what they don’t want to see? Everything I mentioned that is ensuring I don’t part with A) my money & B) my time. All three original films and quite a bit of Crystal Skull are Indiana Jones. This is not. Spoiler: That grating bitch of a character knocks Indy out because he wants to wither away and die in ancient Rome, only to wake up to Marion kissing his ‘boo-boos’. Fuck your self and then some. This movie didn’t have to be some beautifully enigmatic unique groundbreaking masterpiece of a film. It had to capture the fun essence of what Indy was without having some dumb school marm cold cock the guy in the face, dragging his pathetic ass away from his suicidal “I give up” very NON Indy and very NON heroic resignation. And don’t give me any of this bullshit about “Ohhh welllll it’s a story about durrr duhhhh Man who used to be hero duhhh is in “changeinnng TimEzzzz durrr not relevant duhhh!!!” Give the goddamn guy some dignity and respect the fans want him to have. It actually IS ok to not take hero’s and make them broken losers who again, get upstaged by some extremely charisma void that is this Waller Bridge “actress”. This girl is getting absolutely shoved down throats of the general public like medicine we don’t want or need. Fuck you buddy and fuck you Harloff you goddamn phony. Some jank online star fucker ass kissing sycophant, talking about movies & giving “reviews” like you even HAVE business doing so.

I do not fully understand the rotten tomatoes ratings system but surely it translate to a 6 out of 10….I can’t see how anyone would think that was not fair and spot on. I would say Crystal Skull was a 5/10. If the ending means that woman is going to be in more films then I hate it because she’s awful, if the ending now means Indy won’t die alone then OK.
