Let’s about talk this vlog , after spending 7/8 days I decided to leave my host house which is situated in old city Baku Icherishehar it was great time spend there , roamed a lot & my Azerbaijan host helped me exploring various tourist places of Baku , Azerbaijan. After leaving host house I came to Sahil Hostel which is very great hostel in Azerbaijan near Baku Boulevard.
I didn’t took the room in Hostel & spend my time in common area of Sahil Hostel Baku . This hostel is loved by many Pakistanis & Indians .
After spending two days in Sahil Hostel , Baku I decided to go to mountains area i.e Sheki Azerbaijan and I planned to do hitchhiking from Baku Azerbaijan to Sheki Azerbaijan. It was Indian first time hitchhiking
in Azerbaijan. In Azerbaijan national can be easily done through Google maps . I find out the bus no.125 to go Carvan Sarai , Azerbaijan , paid 25 Inr for the bus ride . At this place I see lot of cars , trucks going to multiple directions of country . I was stopped by Azerbaijan Police to stand in a straight way which directly going towards Sheki Azerbaijan. I waited & did hitchhiking for almost 30 mins & then later choose a bus to go to more further direction towards Sheki Azerbaijan. The golden rule of doing hitchhiking anywhere in world to always come outside of country almost 20 -25 kms for open roads and get filtered cars going towards your desired direction . I always carry small black board & chalk to write in their local language and mention about free ride to make it completely clear for the persons on the road .
I took another bus from Caravansarai , Azerbaijan to go to the last stop i.e Alat Azerbaijan and the bus fare cost 50 Inr , while on the way there is UNESCO word heritage site Gobustan , which is quite fascinating if you are coming to Azerbaijan never miss the place Gobustan because of the natural volcanic muddy eruptions . Mud volcanoes of Gobustan is very popular tourist destination site . In India you won’t see Mud volcanoes anywhere except Island range of Andaman & Nicobar . Apart from Mud Volcanoes Gobustan , Azerbaijan is also famous for natural 9000 rocks art engraving of 40000 years old pre existing life on the planet . Azerbaijan is also known as Land of Fire , Yanardag is the place where you can see the Fire mountains .
I started my hitchhiking finally from Alat Azerbaijan . Many of the cars were stopping for me but most of them were going towards Lankaran , Azerbaijan . Lankaran is very popularly known as for nature & greenery . Lot of Agricultural practices are done in Lankaran Azerbaijan. 6 percent of Azerbaijan’a GDP is contributed from Agriculture sector . In fact mainly Azerbaijan’s economy depends upon Petroleum & natural gas resources.
After waiting for almost 25 minute I see Bus coming towards me , it stopped , passengers boarding inside . I simply shown my board to the Bus guy & he allowed me to get in the bus . This was the second time I was hitchhiking by bus , first time I did in Bukhara , Uzbekistan . Bus was really great of Mercedes company with friendly Azerbaijan people inside the bus . I gave 5000 Uzbek soms to Bus conductor as a souvenir gift .
Bus left for Mingecevir , Azerbaijan dropped me at the intersection point , from where Sheki Azerbaijan distance was left of 63 kms . It was already night time I choose to be spend my night at the night market of Khaldan area , Azerbaijan and choose to cover left distance of Sheki , Azerbaijan in morning. At those food store most of the packed items don’t have pre MRP but shopkeeper sells on their own price . I was hungry , bought one big bread for 15 INR feed bit of bread to cat . In Azerbaijan you won’t see any Dog anywhere, only cats around . one Banana for 30 INR , bananas are quite expensive .
Many of the shops were closed around 3 am & the shopkeepers let many of their products outside of their shop , no any problem of theft in Azerbaijan. Around 4 am after taking to one person , decided to take rest in his car for while because at the shop there was no any chair to sit . While taking rest I slept for almost 2.2 hours and it was morning , I was surprised to sleep that long in old soviet car Lada . Azerbaijan shopkeeper offered water bottle & crossiant to Indian . People of Azerbaijan are very hospitable and kind .
Around 7 am I decided to star hitchhiking to Sheki Azerbaijan which was only 63 kms from Khaldan Azerbaijan. One small Azerbaijan kid approached me & asked for something I didn’t understand what exactly he wants . I bought one muskmelon for him which costs around 1.20 Azn / 60₹ .
