In my previous vlog you may have watched me enjoying the Trams of Samarkand , Uzbekistan . In Samarkand , Uzbekistan , there are 2 routes of Tram both starting from Samarkand railway station . One of the Tram route starts from Siyob Bazaar and ends at Samarkand railway station .
This vlog starts me being at Samarkand railway station deciding to go to Bukhara . As you may know that how I would be going to Bukhara , Uzbekistan that is by hitchhiking. So this video is about my experience of hitchhiking from Samarkand to Bukhara . So first of all I need to find Internet to figure out my plan and route . As the Famous navigation app which works so well in Kazakhstan and also in Tashkent, Uzbekistan does not works in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
To track the buses without any navigation app would be difficult so Yandex Maps comes here in the picture . As this app works is used in Samarkand, Uzbekistan for navigation purposes . After planning for 15-20 minutes with the help of Google map as well I find a bus stop which is at main road and the road follows Bukhara , Uzbekistan route and the area / bus stop known as Hazora . So I got the bus going towards that way .
Once I reach there I was looking for a place to sit and write on my hitchhiking board in local Uzbek language about Bukhara . I got the place at bus stand where I found around 13 or 15 female members who were planning to go somewhere on a short trip .
I always carry my hitchhiking black board with the chalk to write on it . It’s best to use , whenever you are on trip better to use this kind of board to hitchhike. I wrote Bukhara in bold letters and Need free ride please! in Uzbek language. When I have shown my hitchhiking board to the local women of Uzbekistan they told me that I am not standing at right place and I won’t get ride from that place but according to Google I was standing at the point going straight towards the direction of Bukhara , Uzbekistan.
I got confused and followed women and she took me another side of road and one of girl with her translated me her saying that they will pay for my Taxi to Ulugbek station and also for my bus to Bukhara . But I asked not to help me financially and said Thank you to them and I came back to the same position after crossing the road and everyone of them left after a moment.
I sleep on the empty seat for around 2 - 3 hours and then awake and started my hitchhiking again . I got the ride to Juma , Uzbekistan within 30/ 35 minutes for around 27 kms and then got another ride within next few minutes. For the first time a policeman helped me in getting me a ride and this ride was also not till Uzbekistan but was for Kattakurgan , Uzbekistan which is around 45 kms from Juma , Uzbekistan. I found this policemen to be a great fond of Indian music and Indian stars as he was playing Indian songs in his car . The people of Uzbekistan is really very great and lovable.
Even police officer briefed the people about my journey to the people around the place where I dropped so that would help me in getting the ride for Bukhara , Uzbekistan. While standing and waiting for my another ride to Bukhara , Uzbekistan few of the car stopped for me but after reading the board completely they leave at the same moment. As because on my hitchhiking board it was clearly mentioned that I am looking for free ride , one of the men approaches me but after looking my hitchhiking board , he turned back . As when you are doing hitchhiking you must clear the fact with the person who is taking you on ride that the ride is on free or not .
After waiting for not even 30 minutes. I see the bus going towards Bukhara . I felt very happy and amazed at the same time to do hitchhiking on the bus for the first time . As I see many seats empty in the bus , like me same you can also do and ask for the free ride in the bus , further it’s on them that they would like to take you or not alongwith .
Bus manager ask me an Indian currency , but sadly whatever I had I already distributed , moreover I forgot to carry plenty of currency along with me . Carrying currency is a great thing to give as a present . I was having old bank note of 5000 tenge which I offered to Bus manager . Within 3 hours I reached Bukhara ,Uzbekistan.
It was great to the Bus manager he told me about University in Bukhara which was just in front of Bus stand . I was happy to hear that and looking for Indian students. I met two Indians but they were busy but they help me by letting their friend to show me university. I sneaked in the hostel and got stay in the hostel .
