Indian Forest Service is an All India Service constituted in 1966. UPSC conducts the IFoS examination for the recruitment of Indian Forest Service officers. The IFS officers are involved in the implementation of policies, acts and rules related to forests, wildlife, environment, addressing issues of climate change and empowering tribal communities.
The examination is conducted in three phases - Preliminary, Mains and Interview.
In this orientation, the faculty will be discussing the basic details of the Indian Forest Service, the pattern of examination, and eligibility criteria. In Indian Forest Service, a candidate can opt for only science subjects as optional papers. The orientation also discusses the optional subjects, the skill of writing science, and the strategy for students appearing for 2023 mains and 2024 mains targeting aspirants.
