INDIAN CULTURE SHOCK vs NETHERLANDS 2020 (REVERSE!) | TRAVEL VLOG IV
Ойын-сауық
Indian culture shock vs Netherlands 2020 (REVERSE!). India is one of the most intense countries to visit in the world. But at the same time growing up in the Netherlands Dutch culture gave me plenty of culture shocks too. About 2 years ago I left the Netherlands and since then I'm building a new life here in India. Every day I discover new things about Indian culture, which is the complete opposite of the things that are considered normal in the Netherlands. I love learning new things though because I'm a curious person. In that way I also love sharing my experiences with other people and opening their eyes on how things can be done so differently all over the world. Today I'm comparing Indian culture shock vs the Netherlands but the REVERSE culture shock, so in case you visit you know what to expect.

FAQ's:
Q Where are you from?
A I am born in former Yugoslavia. Mom is Serbian, Dad is Bosnian. During the '90's war we came to the Netherlands and I got Dutch nationality. I've lived in Amsterdam for 8 years but lost my heart to India. Since 2018 I'm based in Bangalore. See this video for my refugee story: bit.ly/2l17T9h
Q How can you afford to travel so much?
A I saved for 3 years while working full time and now travel vlogging is my job. I work together with tourism agencies but also do some freelance work on the side. Q (Why) Are you vegetarian?
A I'm vegetarian but not strict. I don't eat any meat, fish, cooked/boiled or fried eggs. I gradually became a vegetarian over the course of 15 years because I disliked the taste of meat more and more. After doing a yoga teacher training in 2015 I also quit fish and the eggs. No matter my food preferences I have no issues with other people not being vegetarian. I don't judge others and kind of expect the same favor from others concerning my own food preferences. It makes for a more friendly world :-)

So Mercedes, BMW and Audi cost double price in India and many buyers (but not all) in India doesn't know that they are paying double price for the car.

Fun fact India never had a rightwing government ( pro capitalist). We had left under Nehru. Left under Indira. Left under Morarji desai. Center-left (out of utter necessity as India was about to be bankrupt with only 1 billion dollars in reserve in 1991) under Narashima Rao. Center-left under Atal Ji. Center left under Manmohan Singh and Center left under Modi Ji.

Many (like mannnny) think that grass is greener and life luxurious when we move out of India, but you need to experience the life out of India to see how really luxurious India is. You showed that and thank you for that. Yes many things at many levels need s work, but many things are just pure joy. I used to live in one city where roads were empty, and i felt loneliest and unsafest(new word in my dictionary). I am people person, have reduced talking much but still prefer to surrounded by people. And frankly in my opinion there is no place better to live than India.

It's good to understand n use both sides well, makes one appreciate the privileges. Love your straight from the heart videos.
I appreciate your dressing sense; looking gorgeous in saree.
When I was in Germany, I learnt how expensive spices can be. And Indian food uses a lot of spice. European spice brands are somehow not spicy enough, if that makes any sense? I tried papirika but it was not quite chili like how you have it in India.
Your observation that, the roads are beautifully laid and then a week after, some cable company dig it up, is so true throughout our, otherwise, lovable country. Thanks for sharing this video
U r the sweetest Vloger I know. u r the one who represting India in positive Manner . Good Bless you & ur parents !!! Thanking You
In India we feel like everyone is very near to us instead of worrying about crowded places🙂
Your vlogs are refreshing and you have knack of being so honest and perceiving things so as they are. That's the beauty of your vlogs. Love your vlogs.
I never thought that just listening to someone about their travel experiences without showing much video clips will be such cute , awesome , cool and informative. Thank you very much for making videos on our sweet and sour country :)
Ohhhh... Thanks to come... Nice to see you again
I follow many vloger but literary no one can explain these deferences like you. It's just because your way of thinking and observation are lot more sincere than others and you have a plus point that you are becoming a real Indian. That's why I like you the most. Stay safe and enjoy your life even in bad time. 😀😀

That lack of coordination between different departments in India is beyond compare. Roads get constructed after much delay n that too rarely of good quality. And after that also, within weeks a phone company or water department or something else will start up the digging.
आपने भारत और हम भारतीयों को काफी बेहतर तरीके से समझा है यार इसके लिए धन्यवाद।

Hey Ivana, really glad and happy to see your love for my country. Every time i come to your channel, seeing your interest, enthusiasm for food and culture in my country makes me happy. ❤️❤️❤️❤️👌👌👌👍👍👍👍
Main Thing is that Now An Indian Lives in your heart ❤. No Matter whereever you'll go you will miss indian kind of things. Indian people don't look like stressed, we just find happiness and love in everything. I am also in Bangalore these days, everything is fine except roads and traffic. Love your vlogs😍😍❤
Wow Bangalore! I don't usually find many India travel videos centered there. My father is from there and emigrated to the US in the 80's! I love hearing the stories about how calm it used to be when he was growing up and how much has changed with the massive spike in urban immigration (tech companies and such). I can't imagine a ten fold explosion of population in my home town. I've visited a few times and enjoyed it, I hope you enjoy it there as well. Greetings from middle America!
It is good to see you in a state of comfort when you can casually and surely point out differences- the good and the bad without having the need to be polite. It is a pleasure watching your video All the best to you!
Thanks for highlighted my heartfelt post. Great to see by making huge enthusiastic vlog within a shortest span of time . Hope you are safe in Corona Pandemic Scam. Take Care of your health

Dear Ivana, that was an amazing video! The manner in which you analyzed the differences in culture between the two countries was so interesting and insightful. My former colleagues and other friends from Europe, whenever they visited India, used to remark on the strange calm and solitude they felt inside, despite the teeming mass of humanity around them in the streets. They always used to mention this as an experience never felt in any other places they traveled. Totally agree with you on the roads and traffic in Bangalore. Having lived and worked in Bangalore for 5 years, it is the only aspect I felt negative about the otherwise amazing city. Glad you enjoyed Kerala (I hail from northern Kerala) during your travels. I would wish to see the food in Netherlands video first. Please continue the amazing work ! Thank you

i grew up in a small village in India and still am vegetarian and never had alcohol, never knew that drinking was a big deal in India. I knew beer drinking was happening in the 1980's India has changed a lot and yet she is same great nation i remember. i miss the crowd, the noise the people's attention, and always something is going on 24/7
One of the most beautiful countries I have ever visited. Looking forward to going back.

I like cool places with excellent roads and train connectivity with few people. Also countries should have a deep history and culture to immerse you in. I am fond of Japan, and I know you’ll say Tokyo is very crowded but you‘ll be surprised how deserted the rural and remote areas are.
