If we like compared 10 best india players vs 10 Russian best players i think india wins but if we compared this like 50 years ago then russia would win

India’s number 10 currently sits at around 2650. Russia in 2022 had 11 players above 2700. That number was unfairly and deceptively reduced due to Western chess’s threats to cancel Russian chess players who wouldn’t condemn their heritage, so it’s fair to say the top ten players in the Russian school of chess is stronger than the top 10 players in India. That being said, India is definitely a rising power in chess and in ten years India could definitely overtake Russia. At least in terms of the top 10.

@@mrflamingo1004 I could count only 6 russians borns above 2700 currently against India's 5.. There's also 3 Indians above 2750 opposed to 2 Russians, so India is definitely more top heavy right now

@@Sho-is5vu Please read and understand my comment before responding and check your facts. In February of 2022, the date I was referring to on which the Western brain drain on Russia began, there were 11 Russian players rated above 2700: Nepo, Grischuk, Karjakin, Vitiugov, Andreikin, Dubov, Esipenko, Tomashevsky, Fedoseev, Artemiev, Alekseenko, and Sarana. After Western chess organizations' assault on players representing Russia began, Vitiugov began representing England, Esipenko changed to the FIDE flag, Fedoseev to Slovenia, and Sarana to Serbia. Alekseenko also switched to Austria. My point is that the current number of players Russia has above 2700 is not representative of the strength of the Russian chess elite. Even if you're using 2750 as the benchmark, it would still not be representative due to the fact that many Russian players have not played as actively as the young Indian players the past few years.

@@Istoricescu lol really ? Fisher did , and this was when Russians would Play prearranged games or quick GM draws so they could save their energy for fisher as well as all Russian GMs helping whomever Fisher was playiing. That's why he walked out at a tourny in 63 , Curacao, while leading comfortably , had he played through he would have been champ the next candidates round . Then went into the candidates 7 wimd in a row then crushed Larsen 6-0 , taimanov who was a beast 6-0 , then beat Petrosian 1st game ( the best him comfortably )thsts 20-0 against Best GM's. . yeah I'd call that annihilation. Go play checkers fool
