I'm really upset after seeing such greedy people from my country, that was very hard to handle for you. Varanasi is very important place for Hindus but these people really try to scam tourists. I can't believe that blue T-shirt guy made you pay for his drink. We Indians are known for our hospitality but this man went crazy. Don't know how many times I've to apologize for the inconvenience. Bro you really nicely handled the situation, but here's a suggestion, don't try to be very interactive or even friendly in such crowded places, these places are full of opportunistic scammers and frauds, just be brief about everything in such places. If you want to interact with locals, try it where there are less people, but always stay away from people who start following you or try to force a conversation. Even we indians ourselves are victims of such things.

I visited the place on 3rd september. It is a good place to visit. I wasn't able to go down near the ganga as due to heavy rain it was flooded and was full of sand. But yeah that was a good experience to visit. I also visited Kashi Vishwanath and got some peace after attending ☺️.

Dawood please try and go to buddhagaya the place lord Buddha attained buddhahood. You can stay at the mahabodi society hostel which is quite cheap and the priests are very helpful.
