'India learnt quickly to deal with Covid, world thought we were land of tigers & snakes'

#Covid-19
There is no other way to deal with Covid in a society like ours than to impose a lockdown, head of Epidemiology & Communicable Diseases of Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) Dr Raman Gangakhedkar tells ThePrint’s national affairs editor Jyoti Malhotra. India, he said, has done much better in this initial wave than countries like the US, France, Italy etc, because India learnt from China to limit human interaction and restrict travel, which is why we have been able to avoid the peak of the illness so far. He said he hoped the lessons in health literacy would be permanent. “Why should this virus tell me I have to invest more in the health sector,” Dr Gangakhedkar asked.

WHO's head is decided by CCP and not anyone else including the US. This is why Donald is cutting the funding to WHO which is unfortunately headed by a communist that naturally shares same ideology as the bloody CCP of China. If this is not a wakeup call for the world to realize that CCP has infiltrated into every level of all important organizations throughout the world. What is happening to US is only a reflection of miscalculations of doing business with CCP. It was US that allowed the CCP into WTO, it was US that supported CCP's application into UN with veto power. It was US that allowed CCP into SWIFT network. It was US that bailed out CCP twice in the last 60 years. Only now the US is starting to realize the monster they've created. CCP spies and hackers are constantly attacking US commerce and other military networks. Constantly stealing data etc. Why CCP has never attacked the Indian commerce or other national security institutions is because CCP believes that India is still an insignificant threat, moreover India is a threat to itself than to us and why waste resources on useless and insignificant country. They know for 60 years that as long as Indian Congress party is alive CCP's work is being done. To some extent CCP is not to be blamed for many abuses we blame them for. The blame should be directed to big bankers, past CEO's of US banks who were selling they country to CCP to earn big fees. Advising the CCP on biggest financial deals and how to get access to American technology etc for a big commission checks. Lobbying the US Congress on behalf of Chinese Communist party for a fee. Now the Americans are paying with their lives for getting in beds with CCP unfortunately the dying or dead didn't get the big fees. These bankers have blood on their hands . CCP is made up of demons, we know that for 50+ year. If these demons can kill 30 million of their own people what do you think CCP would do to you given a chance. CCP members must be hanged all 50 million of them if the world wants a lasting peace.

It’s so uncomfortable to watch journalists come to interviews half prepared and start to think and ask questions as and when they feel like in between the important information that is being given by the doctor here. They must really learn from RSTV’s Frank Pereira, Akhilesh Suman and other journalists who just patiently hear every word. They come with questions already pre decided and don’t interrupt. How disrespectful that the journalist here is sourcing from questions on twitter and looking at her phone when the doctor is trying to answer her. Her aim here didn’t appear like she wanted to know what he was saying. She was just interested in posing questions. I didn’t like to style of the journalist. Not one bit.

Dr Gangakhedkar is truly a scientist - with a humane touch. He has communicated well - why India is doing better than other developed nations. One reason being that we have such practical wisdom guiding the decision makers - bringing to bear not just the knowledge but also his practical experience of decades and explaining it to those who decide policy in a simple language. Indians can rest assured that we are in safe hands. No tall claims, no playing to the gallery- just rational and scientific thinking. I am now much more confident that India will pull through this crisis and be the stronger for it. Thank you Dr.

5 stars if I may, The Print. I felt so assured after sitting through this. So thank you The Print for bringing this to us. I can say we are in safe hands. Jyoti did about 30% better than her usual self of interjection with an imbecile and track changing questions and jabs. Especially that last one she dropped about “flattening the curve”, flattened her score by about 20%. I hope she watches this to course correct herself in future. Sometimes it’s wise to keep quiet after you present the question and all the more so when standing in the shadow of a giant scientist like Dr. Gangakhedkar. One can safely assume that Dr. Gangakhedkar is busier than ever but he is so well aware of recent studies. Here and in press conference he downplayed the media enthusiasm about HCQ and Remdesivir. I did look at couple of recent studies as on 15th April 2020 on the two candidate medicines and the results are not very encouraging. Reaction from couple of virologists on these studies is - we should look elsewhere for the drug. That's ok! Science needs a little more time to catch up. The less burden we incur on health system the more traction we offer science to focus on the endgame. We will say RIP to Covid19 one day. Anyway doctor-saheb is a charming and intelligent old man and handled it all with grace which is so rare in these times. What a privilege to hear him speak for 60 mins. Thank you once again.

On lighter note, one would think, doctor cannot talk well after seeing daily press conferences ... Here is the thing though .. Polished babu is very good at spinning everything to one thing "we are fighting pandemic" in polished way .. Doctor do not spin facts as he has knowledge of this pandemic and even after knowing so much he recognizes that we do not know everything about this disease yet ..

For the first time the interviewee pointed out what was obvious to many viewers. Jyoti Malhotra's interviews do feel like a Viva Voce being taken by your disapproving high school teacher. She's some times sceptical, sometimes uninterested and toying away at her mobile, sometimes strict and interrupting, mostly disapproving. Ha, ha. But this was a good interview nevertheless, because in this instance, one noticed right at the beginning, that Jyoti was clearly enchanted by the interviewee and the speaker got to speak a lot and convey his points in full, without Jyoti's characteristic interruptions, mainly because of two reasons, the eminence and strong personality of the speaker and the fact that Jyoti apparently was overwhelmed by the specific information and vocabulary that the speaker was indulging in and his erudite mature and knowledged cynicism.
