I watched this tutorial before starting my job in December 2019 where I would be using Indesign every single day. I had never used Indesign before, but after watching this I started my job without any problems! I now recommend this video to all my new colleagues. Thank you!

You are, hands down, the best voice-over of a tutorial I've ever heard. Plenty of dynamic range in your voice, some humor, up-to-speed, sufficient base and a nice accent to listen to. Bravo!

Still an amazing intro course in 2022! Love your teaching style, providing the source files makes it incredibly easy for beginners, and love the personal touches as well. Makes it feel fun to follow along!

ayeee my man love from india , our college professor made us buy each and every course of yours on udemy XD best teacher u r love u loads : )
I feel so accomplished after following this tutorial. I love your voice and teaching style! It's like you know I"m slow at this because you repeat each step. A lot of people doing tutorials forget that their viewers are newbies and start moving way too fast. You didn't do that! Though I'm going to probably watch this 5 more times, I just wanted to say that this is the best tutorial I've found thus far. Thank you so much!
Still a useful course after 4 years, much better than even paid ones!
You are one of the single best online lecturers I have ever seen, I sat down and watched this entire thing in one go!! Thank you for making this available on KZread!
I just finished watching this over a couple of days and I must say it's thoroughly explained, concise and straight to the point. I've not seen a better put together KZread tutorial. Thanks a lot Dan. I can't wait to dig into the Illustrator and Photoshop courses. You're the best!
OMG, thank you so much! You just made me a pro in 2.5 hours. This was so detailed and helpful. I'm pretty familiar with Photoshop, never used InDesign. New subscriber for sure, video was so helpful and well put together.
I went through this amazing tutorial in one go and solved a lot of issues I faced when tried to learn it by myself. Well-structured step-by-step tutorials from A to Z combined with hands- on approach are easy to follow. Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge in such effective way!
Hi Dan - Thank you so much for this video - I have just begun a Graphic Design degree, and I have never used the Adobe suit before. This tutorial, as well as your other ones, have been INCREDIBLE in helping me to get a basic understanding of this software - which has eased my nerves and anxiety more than you will ever know! Thank you ❤️
I just want to say thank you ever so much for this tutorial, opening In Design for the first time with your tutorial felt like such a smooth transition from Photoshop, I never felt bored throughout the entire tutorial, even though some tools are similar to Photoshop which I have used for many years, this video saved me a debt in school and a refinement in knowledge of tools haha, thank you so much! Its wonderful! Wish you all the best!
No doubt the best tutorial I have seen for Adobe programs. Dan is super clear, all the course runs smoothly and he has a great sense of humour. Plus the course covers all the essentials on a proper way for a beginner. Simply outstanding!!!
I swear this is hands down the most comprehensive InDesign tutorial that exists on KZread. The explanation is so easy to soak up!
It's taken me a while to get through this course purely due to my own procrastination, but BOY am I glad I finished it - you answer all of my questions before I can ask them, and I feel equipped to actually hit the ground running in terms of being able to use basic elements and shortcuts. I love how it's equally geared towards people that don't have the newest version or might be using PCs instead. Fantastic, and I'm 100% going to move on to the Photoshop one next! Thank you so much!
5 minutes in and I already know that I’m going to love this tutorial! Thank you!!
I'm new to InDesign and watching random tutorial to learn until I found this gem. This is amazing, well explained and humorous tutorial, thank you very much.

Brilliant teaching mate
This is the by far the best Channel for Adobe Programs, especially Dan Scott who has the most memorable voice-over and non-intimidating tutorials. Every time I find a video from this guy, either on Skillshare or here, I ignore every other tutorial, because he explains everything perfectly. Thank you for your professionalism and always delivering the highest quality content!
I am literally soooooo thankful for Dan for these amazing courses. I've had struggles in learning illustrator and indesign for a looooong time, having these apps just on-standby. I know there are a lot of tutorials on youtube, specific ones, but nothing can beat an actual course where they will actually teach you the basics and the actual usage of these tools and not just skipping through them. I've watched his Illustrator free course first, and you have no idea how well it taught me! Now, I am able to make my own graphic design (even my own logo from procreate > illustrator) then made T-Shirt designs for fun. I have no idea how fun it is to do it in Illustrator. I've only been relying on photoshop for all things creative. Now I know why so many people would prefer Illustrator for some other things, and now, even InDesign. You have no idea how many people you've taught so much from these courses. Please make more adobe courses. You are honestly the best!
This is hands down the best tutorial I have ever come across.... Much respect for u Sir 😍
The best tutorial I have ever watched! This guy is a natural teacher! I love this so much. You, sir, will definitely be my go-to guy for tutorials!
I’ve just sat through my mandatory quarantine at Gatwick watching through this entire course. Absolutely amazing course delivered in a beautiful manner. Thank you, and keep up the great work.
The best tutorial EVER! Just like his Illustrator and Photoshop tutorials... IT CAN'T BE ANY BETTER!!!
I watched this whole thing and it was EXTREMELY helpful as a newbie to InDesign. I loved the teaching style a lot. Very digestible and hands on. Thank you!
Please don't ever delete these tutorials! They're the best!
Without a doubt you are the best KZread teacher I have seen Danial Walter Scott! You are fast paced, thorough, and easy to follow because you start at the beginning and show screens for every action. Captions are also helpful. Thanks so much.

Wow, thanks!
This is the best tutorial! It's the first time I've been working with InDesign and already you made me to love it!BIG CONGRATS!
Really the BEST tutorial ever! Very comprehensive for a beginners tutorial with a natural flow of information, not overwhelming at all and definitely not boring!!! Can’t wait to watch the rest of your tutorials!! Also... pretty sure if you had an AutoCAD tutorial I would actually be able to finish it without being bored out of my head :)
I learned so much watching this! Went through the design very quickly because the way you explained was simplified and easy to follow. People can get too wordy and overkill where people lose attention or don't even follow what they're teaching. So simplified is good thing, thanks Dan!
What makes your courses great is that you make sure you show the action and it is big enough to see. You explain very well, completely but succinctly. So many others don't. This is the best example of "How to do a How To video" I have ever seen on any topic. Large job. Perhaps you should do videos on how to teach via video.
This is such a great tutorial. Thank you so much! You're very thorough, with perfect pacing and a perfect tone to listen to. I'll definitely checkout your other tutorials. This video just earned me a new skill I can put in my resume and hopefully I can get gigs in the future with this.
This is THE BEST tutorial. I needed a refresher after a year off, and learned so many things I never even knew before. You are a great teacher! I want to watch your tutorials on Illustrator and Photoshop now too!

This tutorial is amazing and SO helpful! We use InDesign (and a lot of the rest of the Adobe suite) at work and I wanted to learn how to use it. Thanks to this tutorial and others, I think I'll learn and be a pro in no time! Keep up the great work! I enjoy your teaching style
This is the best indesign tutorial that I've come across. You make it seem so easy. I watch from beginning to end over two days. Did the exercises and am proud I have a document at the end of it which while not perfect is certainly better than anything I attempted in Indesign before.
Perfect tutorial, went from not knowing anything at all to feeling like I can do anything. Had to learn this program quick because of an upcoming job and now I feel ready for it, thank you so much!
Wow, what a fantastic teacher you are. Love how you revisit shortcuts and processes from previous lessons. Really helps to cement the learning. Thank you very much!
Best tutorial ever for any program! And lol "Use Arial, let's go crazy" hahaha
Oh my god. You make every element of the project alive! It's rare to find such amazing teachers. I feel so glad I found this tutorial since I was struggling with the little stupid things that comes with InDesign.
Just brilliant. Can't thank you enough for your generosity! I learnt an incredible amount, and feel like I've mastered the basics. People like you are what make KZread fantastic.
I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Love Daniel as a teacher. Thank you!
This tutorial was extremely helpful! If you're wanting to learn to use InDesign, you only need to watch this one video and you'll be set!!
Struggled with images when I tried to learn Indesign myself. This was such a simple but comprehensive guide to everything in Indesign. Lovely tutorial. 100% recommend.
This is the first long course that kept me glued to my screen and excited. Thank you, Dan!!! I completed this tutorial in 3 DAYS!!! Also, it's my first time actually doing things on InDesign
This is one of the best articulated tutorials i have come across. Love the simplicity at which you teach, just amazing:)
Your a lifesaver brother, using this to prepare for a potential internship soon and for the future, appreciate it
I learned InDesign from this video 2 years ago and keep coming back for refresher and more detail. I am a long experienced designer, artist and illustrator, but “old school” and needed to learn InDesign when I took on work for a not-for-profit arts festival in Scotland. Now do an annual 52 page program and all the website and SM content with ease thanks to Dan Scott. Thank you Dan.
THIS WAS HANDS DOWN THE BEST INDESIGN TUTORIAL IVE EVER SEEN!!! thank u so much. I have to do a magazine for my editorial design class in uni and I never understood anything my teacher said, but with this tutorial I learned everything I need to know. THANK U SO MUCH!!!!!
I was thinking of waiting on watching the whole video before leave a comment, but here I am... Anyway, thank you for a tutorial in InDesign. Because I am a bit of newbies on this part, Illustrator and Photoshop is OK, I am more of Photoshop "native". But expanding the horizon is always great. Therefore, a positive compliment shall apply. Thank you for this video and the teaching, since I've missed my class in InDesign lecture today, I will use this video and do a self-study in the meantime. Keep up the good work, will be back for more :) Thanks :D Best regards
Daniel, thank you so much. I have always been intimidated by InDesign, but this was a great intro! I'm looking forward to diving into it more. One awesome shortcut that Adobe products now have is that if you have a text box that's larger than the text, you can double click on one of the handles of the text box and it'll auto-fit to the text! Thanks again for the great tutorial!
Sir, I have to thank you very much for your tutorials. There is absolutely no hesitation whatsoever why you are the tutor of Adobe products. You are very pleasant to listen to, the structure of the tutorial is absolutely on point and answers all the kind of questions that arise during your explanation. I love that you cover topics which are helpful also for minority of users. I cannot thank you enough for the helpful tutorials you make! FANTASTIC JOB!
I just started using InDesign with no idea of how anything worked. Glad I found your video before I started messing around with anything. It has now become my go-to video every time I run into a question I need answered because I know you talked about it. Much thanks!
This is exactly what I needed! thanks so much, great level of detail and pace. I was getting so frustrated with indesign but now it makes sense.
I just finished this course after watching it in small portions over the last week plus. Thank you for making InDesign easier to learn!
Thanks Dan, once again, your tutorials are fantastic! I've done your Photoshop and Illustrator courses, and now InDesign, and every time I just sit back and really enjoy your classes.
Thank you for posting this. I am a photographer and have worked in MS publisher in the past. Publisher I find is very intuitive, but working with friends who work in the industry standard I had to catch up to the times. This tutorial connected all the essential dots I needed to make a smooth transition and gave me a lot of helpful tips as well. It's all down hill now. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
This is such a comprehensive guide! The amount of thought and time that clearly went into this tutorial is not only impressive it's almost touching! You clearly want to educate and spread knowledge - the time stamps, the break down and the downloadable files make this bloody fantastic. Incredible.
Thank you so much for this fantastic tutorial! You are so nice and a great teacher ^^
This is a superb tutorial. Terrifically clear, nicely paced, and very well structured. I am an old geezer of nearly 60 and found it a joy to work through. I did type 7 pages of notes - more bullet points - to serve as an aide-mémoire, which I keep on my desk. So enthused am I with this one, I am going to try Dan's Photoshop one next. It's a great way to survive virus lockdowns! Thank you so much Dan and to Envato Tuts+ for making this available.
There's no boring part in your videos ever. Thank you !
"you are laughing 'cuz you've done it" - just that already deserves the like 🤣
World class knowledge available for free !! I whole heartedly thank Dan Sir for this generous heap of knowledge.
I don't think I ever commented at the time, but this video saved my life earlier this spring. I needed to design the layout for my college's literary and visual arts magazine- a tidy little 64-page publication- with no prior experience using Adobe software whatsoever. Feeling absolutely in over my head and helplessly googling variations on "how fast to learn indesign for beginners" and "cool royalty free cover designs for books," I stumbled on this video- over the course of two weekends, splitting the tutorial into two sessions for my sanity, I sat down at one of the campus library's Macs and followed along religiously with this dude. I swear to god, he is not kidding when he tells you that he'll teach you all the basic skills you need to know. I think there was like, one or two things I looked up after the fact to suit my specific needs- stuff like how to make the page numbers start on a later page, or the step-by-step to make all my rgb images cmyk, probably- but putting together a tourism brochure while holding this video's hand like we were crossing the street together gave me all the skills, familiarity, and confidence I needed to tackle the project. Such a fantastic course. You rock, Dan.
Excellent course! Very comprehensive, wonderful for absolute beginners, and it's great that they provide all the source files to follow along with the project! So nice!
This was an incredibly simple, easy to follow and helpful tutorial!
I am going to put these skills I learned to the test. Wish me luck on getting this Marketing job! Love this tutorial!!
I have never been so inspired from a tutorial. I am sitting and watching and i cant even wait to watch more. You have to know, that i am a stone age person who needs the program now...and I understand it !!! Thank you! You make it easy with comfortable tempo and so charming! All the best!!!
This course is just amazing. I designed two magazines after the course, it makes you that independent. It's also been a great source and a guide for going back and retaking the lessons when you are stuck. Thank you so much for creating something that's so wonderful and useful.
Ahhh! I’ll be doing this tutorial this weekend!! I’m in love with that owl with the glasses in the background lol
Incredible tutorial. Thank you! This is exactly what I needed to understand how to use and edit templates sent by my marketing team. The class was a lot of fun and most importantly, very educational! Best teacher ever!
Thank you! Just started a new job. This is the first time using any type of "design" program and you made me an "expert" within a few hours! Clear and to the point. My manager was impressed with the result :)
Making the image bigger is so logical. Went to a course recently where the so called tutor had no idea how to train - I ended up with useless images. All because he did not show us to over print the colours at the margins. Tried to make out I was stupid. No, this guy here is so knowledgeable and explains it clearly. Step by step. I am a trainer in English language. Exactly how I train. Fantastic - so cool!
"CMYK, Booo!; RGB, Yey!" Lool Thanks for this video, man it helped a lot.
The tutorial I was given was complicated. I was struggling, and this was so informative and easy to follow. Thanks!
You know I just started a new job and I didn't know I needed to manage In Design, I've been working as a designer for a long time but I've never had the need to use it. This has saved my life! Thank you so much ❤️😊
This was one of the best tutorials I've ever watched - informative, engaging, and succinct! Bravo
Love your accent, man! Thanks for this tutorial. I had zero InDesign skill...now I have 1 or 2. haha!
Although this tutorial is four years old, it is still relevant in 2024 (v. 19.1). Dan's pace of instruction is relaxed and easy to follow.
This is so great, thank you so much for explaining every step of the way. I have been looking for something like this for a couple of weeks, love the way you teach!
Is it sad that this one video has taught me more than the last 3 semesters of school has combined?? This video has been jam packed with so much information... and its just 1 project. Thank you so much for this!
Hi there! can we see this useful video later on? Now I'm struggling to focus!
I cannot tell you how much I benefitted from watching this video. I have been given access to inDesign and I knew nothing about inDesign. Thanks to you I am flying, on another point,; I learnt lots and lots about the field in general, it answered some lingering "I have no idea", thoughts from years of not knowing. On a wider point what a teacher, totally eliminated any hint of patronising and turning every error into humour and best practice. I was totally engrossed in the whole course. Please accept my grateful thanks for an outstanding presentation.

It is our pleasure! It is great to hear that it is useful.
I'm working on a portfolio to apply to a Master's program in Architecture and needed a crash course on how to use In-Design. This was PERFECT! Thank you so so much!!!
Dan you are the Man! This is a brilliant tutorial - I love that you show us how to make our computer look like yours. I have spent so much time in tutorials elsewhere looking for the command that is being used. You made this so simple. So many designers doing tutorials are great technicians in the software and great designers but are rubbish teachers. You tick every box. I could follow you really easily, all of the support files were easy to find and the instructions and time codes in the list below were really helpful. Thank you for a terrific tutorial. I'm off to get designing I have been using Illustrator but InDesign is going to be so much more adaptable to what I need to do. THANK YOU!
Hey Dan! Hope all is well! Man, I'm really enjoying your class thus far. Cool! I haven't used InDesign since 2009. So I thought it would be good for me to take a refresher course! You make learning fun and easy!
Thank you so much! I went to school for Marketing and now in my full-time job I'm a one-woman marketing department and I never got any formal training in these programs that I need to use! I can't wait to watch the rest of your videos!
I honestly can't thank you enough for this, I was helplessly lost and this made it so clear and easy to understand! I can't wait to start making my own things now! Thank you!!!!

Hi Dita! I downloaded the files but they are different. Can you tell me plase where can I find the files to work ? :)
I wanted to take a web development course at my college, but it has a co-requisite of multimedia 101, which has a pre-requisite of multimedia 100. I have at times started to feel overwhelmed with the things that they're giving us, but I learned quickly to look forwards to your tutorials each unit. You never move too fast, are practical, and teach things that nobody else manages to cover for some reason. I learned a few things that let me apply skills outside of class. These tutorials are going to be why I pass the class.
I have an interview for a job in marketing next week that'll feature a practical element requiring the use of indesign. I, having never touched the software before, was crapping myself. After following this tutorial I'm now pretty confident that I'll nail the interview. Thanks my dude!
thank you so much Dan! That's my second course with you, and I will definetely take also a Photoshop beginners course, to refresh my knowledges of this software. Your courses are extremely good, concise and helpful, I like them a lot!
This is one of the best online tutorials I've ever watched. Thanks a mil!!
I've become addicted to this channel. You guys are GOLD! Thank you so much!
Honestly, this is the best tutorial video I have ever seen. Like ever. I can't stress it enough. Its been made with a lot of thought and patience. You have answered questions, every single one I could think of, the second I thought of it, mentioned every single tip which I thought couldn't possibly be here. I am in awe. Going to share this video to anyone who needs it, forever. Honestly, great work!

Just finished...wonderful. Thanks very much! I'm a Brit translator living in Italy...I occasionally have to deal with Indesign files for a client who needs user manuals translated. After your course, I feel confident enough that I can even improve the layout of his manuals!
Great tutorial and great teacher! It's been a while that I have been thinking about learning InDesign. As a long time Photoshop user I needed just that basic input for starting away. Now that I found you, I'll finally learn Illustrator too 😊. Thank you!
