@@JayandKarolina I guess it will last the whole day. In some areas, this upcoming Sat and Sun could be the final rounds for some competitions and awarding ceremony with stage for kids performance and music will be held in the evening usually.😄

Locals in every residential area usually held independence party by throwing some fun neighborhood competitions in the morning, like starting from 7 am and in the evening. And before raising flag ceremonial in Meredeka Palace, there was a parade of marching band and stuffs by the military, the starting point is in Monas Monument and they’ll walk to the palace. I wish I could comment earlier guys 😆 because this year maybe the last time we will held the ceremony in Jakarta, because the government is planning to do the next in IKN, Broneo (Indonesia’s new capital), Jakarta will no longer the capital of Indonesia. So, you guys perhaps witnessed some history there, the last independence ceremony held in Jakarta after 78 years 😆

You might have missed one of the main attractions... It's called the Kirab or the parade with marching bands, various local costumes, horse carriage that carry the Indonesian flag from monas to the Merdeka Palace. it was held around 8am
