Back then, I was thinking that the bad part of Indonesia is so bad that it made me wish that I was born with another nationality. But then, with more and more people sharing their experiences about how messed up the bad part of other countries can be, I'm super glad that I was born here. I'm so glad to be able to come to a realization that being an Indonesian and living here in Indonesia is a great blessing.
I totally understand where she coming from. Because of my dads job in the "Department of Foreign Affairs Indonesia" he was stationed in different countries like Italy (Thats where I was born), United States ( I lived here for almost 30 years), Papua New Guinea and Etc. Because of my dads occupation job being a diplomat... kinda screw up my "identity" , my indonesian language and my education... because Indo people that i know had high expectation for being indo when I dont even know what being indo is.... I really had "Identity crisis" from my teen years through all the way to my young adult years... being repeatedly scolded for being too westernized and at a certain point some Indo people can really inflicted some damage because of their harsh comments. Like saying "wow, kamu uda gemuk sekali yah..skarang" or "kenapa lo pakai baju cowok, entar gnak ada mau kawinin lo dehh" ... it really affected me to the point i hated all Indonesian people... Looking back in my 40 year old eyes now, I dont hate indo people because lack the understanding.. but one thing i hate about Indoneisan culture is"THEY DONT HAVE FILTER IN THEIR MOUTHS"... I dont regrett living my short life in indo and eating bunch of Indo abang food... bruh..
Next please invite Cinta Laura. She is young, beautiful, multi talented, and smart
It's interesting to watch Indah G's contents as a crazy rich Indonesian inter kid who gets priviledge to live off the glamorous life and lavish education. And the fact ends up to this; 1. They know nothing about Indonesia 2. They barely speak Bahasa Indonesia 3. They have crisis identity where they should belong to either being Indonesian or American 4. They are educated by American curriculum 5. Their well-off economy doesnt encourage them to explore Indonesians' gems My question as an average Indonesian who's never getting into such bubble, in education perspective, aren't International kids taught Bahasa Indonesia, Indonesian history, geography and cultures? If not, it's weird coz they live in Indonesia, they open business in Indonesia, they study in Indonesia, they breathe, get some water from Indonesia's natural resources. Aren't they interested enough to know about Indonesia at all? At least I assume that they should get better education compared to less privileged Indonesians. Eventho the kids are from all over the world and are not taught about nationalism, I see that might be the cause of where the crisis identity comes from.

Jangankan soal wawasan kebangsaan, pancasila dasar negara sila silanya aja mana ada yg hafal, belum soal lagu kebangsaan negara Indonesia Raya, coba mereka tanyain, pasti zonk!! Mereka cuma mau enjoy their life as fullest as they can until they die. The end.

Hahaha dia lihatnya amerika lewat Los Angeles - girl… tidak tahukan anda bahwa California is Bankrupted. Lots of Californians melarikan diri ke South . Try to go to Texas , Florida , Kansas City etc all the places that don’t run by democ-rats government.
@newbabies923
11 ай бұрын
The reasons why alot of californians ran away to the south is because California is so expensive to live in, basically california is the city of rich ppl like influencer, actors, singers, etc. Not because California is bankrupt. New york and California economy literally menopang the whole US economy. Without these 2 states, US would be poor AF . Also if you are muslims, FYI majority of ppl in Texas, Florida, Kansas city, they hates muslims. And they will most likely calling you names for being asian in those states
Menurutku tema kali ini udah "cukup" menarik. She's smart. Obviously.. But I don't like that she repeated her words over and over, and she also speak too many bad words. Not a good example for me.. I'd say that she's the kind tiktok/yt short creator i kinda enjoy.. but not for a long podcast.
Next time try to invite cinta laura, najwa shihab or agnez mo if you can... 😊😊 or Indonesian politician if you want, it will be fun because next year we have elections bro.. 😊😁😁 for this episodes sorry to say, is so boring and full of "complimentary in rude way".. Sorry bro, this is the facts 😅😅
Great content guys, especially talking about the "White Privilege" thing in Indonesia Most Indonesian treats bule well, because they want to make bule feel impressed which leads to bule say Indonesia is a really great place to go (which is still true a great place) But outside of that, they don't treat fellow Indonesian well, keep it swept under a rug and say that we love diversity
Tidak terlalu banyak podcast yg bahas anak2 yg hidup dalam international school bubble. Interesting topic for me.

I agree about bule privilege in Indonesia. Back in their home country they are just commoners. Normal people. But in here they received some special treatment. Some bule are good but some are not. Some are feeling superior and don't respect Indonesian culture and tradition. Masuk kandang kambing mengembik, masuk kandang kerbau menguak. Go and translate that..🙏🏻
maybe im with the minorities here but i really enjoyed this episode. heavy topic for sure but it’s interesting for me to see the perspective of so called third culture kid especially from someone who’s english is so eloquent as indah. yeah sure her words are kinda “belibet” and jumbled around multiple topics at the same time, but it’s pretty interesting and i learned a few vocab today. keep it up guys
God it's always very entertaining to see her talking about stuff 😂😂😂😂 we don't really get a lot of people like her here in Indonesia
Kontroversial tapi ada hal positif yang bisa dipetik. Keren sih podcast kali ini.
Setelah podcast dengan Indah G. Nampaknya Buaya Barat perlu mengundang konten creator Korea Reomit
Walaupun terlambat nonton, tapi selalu menonton
That pointing finger that Indah made is Unnecesarry. I cant help it not to think that its rude.
Fun episode. Indah definitely gives a different perspective, being a person who's not afraid to talk about things more than average Indonesian's comfort level, as evident in the comment section. Don't have to agree with everything she said & she is a part of a broken system, unwittingly at that tho, mind you. But yeah, it's fun to see how her crassness just send people flipping. I've learned a long time ago, politeness for the sake of being seen refined is the true form of arrogance & ignorance. Kudos to you two who are brave enough to bring her to your podcast.
Lama-lama makin lama ditonton makin seru & menarik

When people see a Bule the local associate it for having lot of money, and the Durtch colonialization thing, because historicaly the Dutch is always be the boss of local people. So that's the answer, Indonesian local people (especially those who have little knowledge about western world) see any bule as very superior, have a lot of money, a boss.

Indonesian Security Guard is always being nice for everyone, not for bule only. I disagree with this lady statement. Many times I ve asked for toilet, address, anything to these guys they ve been so nice and very helpful.

Well, everyone's experience is different from others. So I also disagree with your statement. I have met a super classist and sexist security officer/guard. I also have met the sweetest and wholesome security officer. Just because you've never met bad ones, doesn't mean they don't exist at all.
I think this lady has been raised in a safe bubble most of her life. If she feels like she is not welcome in Indonesia for who she is, maybe she should step back and revisit if America would treat anyone the same. Me being an Indonesian living in the US, at some point, we all have to adjust how we speak, and how we behave. There is no way I can be a full-blown Indonesian here. BIG FAT LIE if she said that I can freely do and/or say whatever I want here. Heck as an Indonesian, even Americans are controlled here. Indah needs to grow and wise up a little bit more. If she doesn't want to hear good and bad opinions about her, then simply don't go public on social media platforms. Stick in your bedroom screaming your lungs out doing whatever you want, 100% guaranteed no Indonesian would care.
about the "white privilage" in indonesia it's not like "white privilage" out there, deep inside indonesian people they sees foreigners as clown and they take it as their own entertainment that's why they always smile when they sees one since "bule" sometimes who have no clue about local culture usually do something silly in bali it's a tourism island and tourism is their main economic income, so people in bali tend to treat foreigner as special guest (as long as u bring money of course 😂) it's like Casino in Las Vegas USA, they welcome u as long as u have the money but they will kick you out if you become homeless about colonialism we scared more of Japan imperialism rather than netherland(european colonialist), not just in indonesia but accross the asia, VOC(netherland company) was just too filthy rich company in their era in short people have this kind of collective old past memory that foreigners who came to nusantara(indonesia) were either crazy rich or crazy cruel, and we just laugh/smile when we sees them none of those stereotype but the opposite have u ever seen a chinese guy came from china land who speak, fashion, lifestyle like coboy in texas like literally people sees him as chinese coboy in texas? 😂 yea, that's what we thought when we see foreigner... it's funny but in the same way we kinda respect them for accepting local culture
i think so far this one is my favorite episode, definitely a very heavy topic but so interesting. thanks for inviting Indah ❤

Aah also to answer your question on why alot of Indonesians "worship" white ppl even though we were colonized by the dutch back in the day. It's basically because during dutch colonial era there was a segregation law in Indonesia, 1. White people, 2. Asian oriental which are chinese, arabs, and indian. And the 3rd class citizen called inlander which obviously native Indonesian. So because of that segregation alot of Indonesian view white ppl as superior, i mean obviously Indonesia just got their independence in 1945 which pretty recent comparing to 350 yrs being colonized by the dutch. So alot of Indonesian still grow and have that kind of inlander mindset where they view themself as lower class and white ppl as very highclass society. Which is also the reason why some chinese indonesians till nowadays view native indonesian as backwards cause obviously chinese were 2nd class citizen while native 3rd class citizen. And not only that, it's also has something to do with the "economy" , i feel like if you come from rich background you will most likely don't really care about white ppl that much comparing to ppl from less fortunate background, they will usually see white ppl very highly and also want to marry white ppl to get away from their condition of life.
