'Incredibly difficult and eventually cruel', Andrew Marr's Tory manifesto analysis | LBC

Rishi Sunak has pledged more tax cuts, immigration reform and plans to effectively abolish stamp duty for first-time buyers as he unveiled the Conservatives’ manifesto ahead of the General Election.
Andrew Marr gives his expert analysis of the manifesto and is later joined by Education Secretary Gillian Keegan to discuss the Party's spending commitments.

The Covid enquiry reaches its investigation into the PPE contract allocation, either later this, or early next year, I personally think that Sunak is desperate to still be in power so any findings can be conveniently made to go away, and he knows, under a Labour government there will be no cover up, Keir Starmer has already said that there will be consequences if any fraudulent contracts were issued to Tory donors, friends, and family.

I want to live in a more equal society where everyone can thrive, no matter what circumstances they are born into. The Tories have demonstrated time and again that they don't care, and I'd go as far as saying that this iteration of the Tory party actually detest the ordinary people of this Country - how else can you explain their disdain and self-serving behaviour? They've widened the divide between the haves and have nots, made social mobility much more difficult and in my opinion are self serving crooks.

I don't see how pensioners are at the centre of the plan. The commitment to raise personal allowances in order to pay the state pension tax free is marginal to say the least. As a working pensioner, already receiving state pension and occupational pension but also having to work to make ends meet the Tory commitment to maintain my state pension tax free is of such low value as to be laughable. It is headline grabbing but in real terms of very little value. NI cuts mean nothing to me, I am far from happy that the Tory's are "looking after me" as a pensioner. I am worse off now than I have been for the last 20+ years.

I'm a Civil Servant and an unpaid carer for my disabled wife. Do I believe their softly, softly approach to cutting jobs in the Civil Service and gently getting disabled back to work? Not from our experience. The Tories tried to privatise our government department, even though we were profitable and every solicitor and customer were against it, and we had to appeal to our benefits decision being turned down. In the appeal court we were given more money than what we originally asked for, wasting time and money. Statistics show that the government has spent more on appeals than it would have done if it just gave everyone claiming their benefits. This government is absolutely clueless and is only interested in making cultural wars to appease the right wing voter and hide their terrible management.

Why is it always those who can least afford cuts or being excluded from receiving help that are targeted? Why aren’t those who can comfortably afford to burden more taxation getting tax cuts? Why do families earning over £80K receiving Child Benefit? Why do those in multimillion Pound homes paying the same Council Tax as those in Council/Housing Association homes?
