That is the biggest plate jaw/clamp I have ever seen ! All these processes and their operators are top notch. I love working big anything.

The way those gears mesh together so perfectly is oddly satisfying. It's like the mechanical version of a perfect harmony.

Such amazingly powerful machines. A great tribute to the design engineers. Such a pity about the infuriating muzak though. A dialogue about the technical aspects of the machines would have been preferable.

@@kurtg5645 I don't think so. In mt 50+ years of experience in heavy engineering and manufacturing I have never seen such an item. Probably is for decorative purposes.

@@kurtg5645 Correct. Nowadays windmill towers are made by the same process. The taper is produced by adjusting the bottom 2 rolls appropriately. In my earlier post I was referring to the machine that made the square tube with the helical twist sections therein.
