Yo, that was a journey, my friend, that was a freaking journey. The best video I watched today! Normally I talk about going to the backwaters, but taking a houseboat, but this was also good. Still though, a houseboat with a chef inside, a private bathroom and a bedroom. They serve you breakfast lunch and dinner, it's all really healthy food as it's freshly grown locally. They will cater to your dietary restrictions. It can be a bit pricy, but it's worth it when considering, its lodging, food and transport combined. Anyway, that video still slaps (except for that toddy part, which is fermented, and fermented anything... has a pungent smell... so yah....

Wow, that view at 12:00... EPIC, that's definitely one of those once-in-a-lifetime shots brah! You took the most PERFECT shot, gorgeous! I am awestruck at how beautiful mother nature is. Maybe its also the editing, but man, that was something!! Salute. It was a magical moment. I have seen many many videos, but this one had the right touch. Are either of you both vegan or vegetarian? cause there are a whole lot of good eats, but it's non-veg items. You're not going to get fresher or better fish, as its literally caught there. You have to try: -Parotta and beef fry/roast -Kerala Fish Curry and Fist fry and rice -Appam and chicken curry -el sadhya and fish fry or curry

@@lifenumber6 Alright, there's a whole host of veg items that you can try in Kerala. -Appam aka palappam and veg stew -puttu and kadala curry (steamed coconut rice and chick pea curry, it is not chana masala, its different) -Idiyappam and egg curry -el sadhya (in the house boat, they can give you a tonn of veg options). -idili sambar, masala dosa, paper dosa and sambar -kerala rice and kalan/moru curry, inji pickle (ginger pickle), mango pickle, parriup curry (dahl), -kathrika -puri sabzi (fried flat bread and potato curry) -vegetable kothu parotta (aka known as kottu roti in sri lanka) -Pathiri -malabari vegetable biryani -Pazham Pori to name a few.

Bro you should come to kozhikode and Wayanad district also and you would have to travel through hill aria too. All in Kerala not the same at all . we have different food ,lands ,home structure, I didn't know why you are a tourists all ways traveling through the beach and the busy space only We have hundreds of other peaceful places and village lifes You will get there kerala's different culture and beauties

I don’t remember already the homestay! But basically it was the cheapest in booking, the prices of the rest were quite higher! All the tours were kind of improvised, price don’t change much between providers!

I belong to Kollam ( now Canadian citizen and resident) and Munroe Island is one of the few islands of LAKE/ BACKWATER ASHTAMUDI. HOUSE BOATS? Till 1960s roads of then Kerala were not developed and road transport took lot of time, and so many waterbodies crossed roads resulting in WOODEN/ IRON BRIDGES OR FERRIES, the traditional wide bodied country boats made of WOODEN PLANKS TIED TO EACH OTHER BY USE OF COCONUT FIBRE/ COIR CARRIED LOADS ACROSS GREAT LAKES.THEY CARRIED EVERYTHING AND HAD CAPACITY BIGGER THAN OLDEN DAY'S LORRIES OR TRUCKS. BUT AROUND 1970S they became redundant as trains arrived, bridges built and roads developed using better trucks all saved time and cost. The obsolete boats had no use and were moored, for years.Then based on some film stories etc people thought of using the boats for entertainment(?) AND CAME THE HOUSE BOAT CONCEOPT COMNERCIALLY.OLD " KETTU VALLAM OR CHARAKKU VALLAM:" floating between West coast towns to mid-level districts across the lakes of Central Kerala were using BAMBOO OARS AND SAILS MADE OF PALM MATS! THEY BECAME ULTRA MODERN HOUSE BOATS with air-conditioned bed rooms or conference halls or western toilets to Bars with cuisine prearranged, the deck converted for wedding rituals etc.Very recently new boats also started making entry. Mini cruises WITH JAPANESE.MOTORS USING DIESAL AS FUEL. NOW SPECIAL LAWS CONTROL THEIR USES AND ROUTES. NIGHT.MOVEMENT IS STILL.NOT PERMITTED HENCE THEY ARE KEPT IN JETTIES IN THE NIGHT! IN SEASON MOST BOATS ARE BOOKED MONTHS IN ADVANCE! THINK OF A TRADITIONAL WEDDING ON A FLOAT CONNECTED TO A BOAT !!!WITH LOCAL DRUMS AND FOID..REAL BOLLYWOOD STYLE MUCH CHEAPER TAN A WEDDING IN WEST IBDIES CUNCUN OR HAWAI!!! 60 years back there were no house boats for public!!!

@@lifenumber6 MY idea was to make you and viewers from outside Kerala to know some facts. No intention to convert from already made up travel plans. Different people have different needs. And there are tiny KOTHUMBU VALLAMS of single occupancy to large 100 seaters for guests with 5..6 bedrooms for hosts!

Yah, they need to just give out vadas as snacks... only toddy for the ones that want to try it(maybe even not having it, and have fresh coconut water instead... I would say, that is the only part that detracted from the whole clip.
