It looks better before if you want smoother animations then go with 24 frames and add more frames in between

⁠stop motion is hard but it’s possible to master if you keep working on developing your skills. Having a software develop in-between frames for your animation does nothing for a person’s skills on making a solid stop motion animation. Part of the appreciation you can have for a stop motion animator is his dedication to understand how to make his animation look the way he wants, and having the patience to get the results he wants, even if it takes several attempts.

Yeah, if you're animating at 24 fps, which you really always should be, there's no excuse not to be able to execute this sort of slo-mo shot simply through the animating process.

If you look at the slo mo the image deep fries itself That might be good for a simple straight motion but the moment you apply basic animation principles it gets real wack

Frame interpolated animation looks so bad. Pause at 0:34 and look at the mess the interpolation creates. Faster fps doesn't mean smoother animations, it makes it look too fluid. The charm and unique appeal of stop-motion comes from the choppy and abrupt movements. Sure there might be some use cases of DAIN, but I don't think stop-motion animation is one of them.

Can you change the target fps it generates? The example feels a bit too smooth, losing its stop motion charm, (not saying it's wrong as is, that might be exactly what you need for a project. The guys who animated miniatures for scifi movies back in the days would've killed for such smoothness,) but if you could set it to specific fps, such as 12, while you only have to take a fraction of the photos you'd normally need to achieve it, that'd be great and balanced

Are you adding 2x frames or 4x frames and r u able to process 4k frames? I found that my hardware is limited to processing hd frames

It IS a form of motion interpolation, but unlike twixtor or optical flow, it is depth aware. Gives it much better results. Also, it's free!

I like how everyone in the comments besides @YourMotorcycle is wrong. The whole point of stop motion is lag and stutter you don't need artificial frame additions or smooth 60 frame fps to make a smooth stop motion video

"Lag and stutter" is not the point of stop-motion and you can get excellent high-fidelity motion with stop-motion. Though their films aren't my favourite, Laika demonstrate this probably the best of anyone right now. The real benefits of stop-motion come from the tangibility of the sets, props and characters, which puts it in a special realm of possibility with its own advantages and limitations compared to hand-drawn and CG.
