INCREDIBLE Southern Fried Chicken at Decha Halal Restaurant in Hat Yai (ไก่ทอดหาดใหญ่)
The Southern Thai style of Deep Fried Chicken is SO good, for many it's clearly worth the entire trip to the South! We are lucky to find the well-known 'Kai Tod Decha' open from the pre-lunch hours today (a great thing, because there was no way we could handle waiting ALL the way until lunchtime for these flavors of Fried Chicken!!).
Hat Yai-style fried chicken is already famous all over Thailand, locals love enjoying this at street carts and night-markets all across the country. You will not believe your tastebuds though, having this chicken in its HOME areas, today we are right at the source of this mind-bogglingly tasty flavor.
Imagine a chicken batter of THAI CURRY, gentle and genius, the tart additions of dry spices, the subtle introductions of the all-too-familiar fire (Southern Thailand has a real love of chili heat), and finally some insane juiciness from expertly timed deep-fryer action - it is match of absolute perfection.
This is hands down the best fried chicken I've ever had, and thanks SO much for hanging out with Li and myself down here in Hat Yai today!

I didn't think you'd be showcasing more Hai Yai fried chicken again in another video so soon; but, I'm glad you did. That you called the chicken at Kai Tod Decha possibly the best fried chicken that you've ever had is high praise. Teh Tarik ( impeccable presentation) is one of my favourite Tea 👌 Wow I have never seen or heard of a Spicy Omelette soup . Looks super yummy 😋😋 True that this video is certainly making me happy and hungry 🤤 Biryani with fried chicken is yet another unique and fab combo 👌 I doubt if anyone would dislike a well prepared crunchy fried chicken with a succulent and moist flesh inside . Totally drool-worthy 😋😋 This restaurant is certainly on my wish list to visit . Great review by Li on the sourness component of the Soup . She certainly loves temperature hot dishes as it amps up the flavour and I complete agree with her . Oh we just witnessed a hiccup from dear Joel post having the spicy soup 😀 The Roti tissue dish looks more like a Dosa . Yet another spectacular view of the landscape 👌The ambience is also super cool 👍 The veggie plus shrimp paste dish looks super glistening and just seems to pop out 👌 LI with chicken , SomTam and sticky rice are synonymous 🤗🤗 True that Li that Fried Chicken would go great with a 🍺. Looks like they have an eclectic range of dishes to cater to the different palates of the diners 👍 My wife loves SomTam 😋 Thanks dear Joel for the close up shot of the juicy fried chicken 🍗 The more I watch it the more my tummy rumbles 😅 Perfect Joel I already commented earlier that it resembles a Crips Dosa with some sweet topping and some cut bananas . Well, Li made me realize something about the temperature of food, and your preferences. I often watch your program and wonder why you wait so long to dig in. In this one, I kept looking at the soup and thinking "it's getting cold"! I like my food temperature hot. At least take a taste and if you need to, then you can let it cool off.

Politically it's not going to happen as it further divides the southern thai and makes the separatist movement stronger. The southern thai provinces were formerly known as the old Malay sultanate states before they were split between Thai and colonial brits.

Never hear Li when they are with Mark and Ying. We have deep fried chicken all the time even regular fried chicken in a cast iron skillet is the way to go we batter or flour our chicken in seasoned flour soak the chicken in buttermilk first for 30 mins or overnight then crack eggs dip add hot sauce to the buttermilk soak . Dip in egg then in the seasoned flour mixture so delicious and so so crispy what we call southern fried chicken with a ice cold glass of sweet tea and sides of potato salad,or pasta salad,green beans or side salad grilled corn on the cob
