Incredible Shipping Container Home By The Sea Is A Small Space Marvel

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

After spending its life on the open ocean, this shipping container landed on the shores of New Zealand where it was transformed into a spectacular home for a dynamic young couple. After living in the container home for three years, a new addition to the family inspired a renovation project which saw the tiny house transform into a family home.
Support our show: / livingbig
Kim and James have done an incredible job with the design and build of their container home. Completely council consented, they constructed their home from a 40ft shipping container which was chopped down to 30ft to be able to fit onto the section and fit in with local regulations. Around the container home, they have constructed a large deck and a wonderful outdoor living area.

The home is positioned above two 20ft shipping containers, one which acts as storage space and one which functions as a base of operations for the couple’s company, a t-shirt design and printing business. Ultimately here, James and Kim have created a spectacular work / home balance thanks to some very clever small space design.
Kim is also an author who has recently published a children’s book about an architect deigning a tiny house. To find out more about that click here: www.kimberly-andrews.com/puff...

Her art sensibility is all over the house. The shade of the wall paper, the pictures on the walls, the tiny model of the same house kept inside, the stuff in the kitchen, literally like illustrations. The builder has done a good job on his part. He deserved a bigger acknowledgment, Bryce.

"It's nicer to have a few nice things that you treasure then a whole lot of things" No truer words were ever spoken. I think that's the motto you have to live by to live in a tiny house. It's the mindset that lets you live simplistically in a smaller space and be happy. You can't live like that if it's all about material possessions. I think that's why the tiny house movement is taking on so well. Because more and more people are realizing that it's not all about the stuff.

Spreading the word of tiny housing so passionately and reasonably at the same time does start becoming a little avalanche, Bryce, doesn't it? People telling how Your channel inspired their tiny house journey are starting to pile up on Your channel. 😂 I am actually in contact with a buncha people starting to think about tiny living around the Munich area, and Your channel has been named recurrently as one of the more important inspirations ever since. There's still a lot of trouble with regulations when it comes to actual "living" in legal, permanent tiny houses no matter on wheels or in Containers without those, and nothing seems to help against the Bavarian rules for housing in this stage, but some people are working on it nonetheless. Legalities will have to change, given the shortage of ANY affordable living around here. Thank You for being a great inspiration spreading such amounts of passionate optimism in each of Your videos.

I watch a lot of these and van life videos and whenever they get to the making and unmaking the bed/couch on a daily basis a feel a bit of dread knowing if it were me I’d just be living with the bed out all the time! My prayers and love go out to everyone impacted either directly or indirectly! I actually came on to say that this tiny house is beautiful! I am a passionate collector of children’s books with two children of my own, I am delighted to see Kimberly on here- my son aspires to be an architect although is a bit older than those books are aimed for (11). I may just have to buy Puffin the architect just because of my love of tiny houses!

Wow the thing I love about such homes is the house belongs to you, you have freedom to do whatever you want in a small space so you have to be creative and each tiny home has special effects either lights, stairs, storage, speaker, open roof, beds out of nowhere things you don't get in a conventional house I love it. And you don't leave a lot of carbon footprint and it's cheaper than conventional homes with the same effects.

I have watched a few episodes of this channel in the past, but have binge watched it this weekend. It's truly amazing how creative some people are with their space. I am a minimalist by nature, and this seems like a change that I would really love to make. And Bryce really does remind me of Heath Ledger...favorite actor of all-time (RIP).

A tiny house by the sea seems pretty normal as many seaside homes are small. Very nice space-having the bed at ground level and the living raised. They really care about how one feels in a space. Kim sounds like a Yank! No biiiig deeks for her!! : ). God help New Zealand right now. Thanks.

Bryce, I’m so saddened by the tragic events happening in your country. Know that many many prayers and thoughts go with you. Coming from the States we are rocked and shook by tragedy on a daily basis. I watch many videos from New Zealand creators and I consistently say how beautiful and peaceful your country seems. I pray for peace again. Thank for all of the great videos you consistently put out.

Thank you so much Donna. Yes, it's hard for me to believe that something like this can happen in New Zealand. It's a real shock. It's just as terrible to see such horrific events occurring in America and other countries, and I never expected to see anything like this ever happen in New Zealand. Thanks for watching our videos and for your support.

What a wonderful little family and a tiny but perfectly formed home. Well done to this couple their architects and their local planners, working together to make tiny house living part of the (for want of a better word) "normal" housing community. I very much hope more of this will happen around our world. Everyone deserves a comfy, cosy and safe home and community. My thoughts are with New Zealanders at this very sad time.

It is truthfully said, that the first half of our lives are spent acquiring “stuff”, and the last half of our years “downsizing” or getting rid of extra stuff. This proves that life is more than “stuff”, after all, hearses don’t have trailer hitches snd we can’t take it with us. Personally, I have at least 3 generations of stuff that I am “storing” for my family - and I am single, with one cat! I am working towards getting financially capable of going to smaller accommodations and a tiny house or camper-van /RV looks like a good option. for me. I am exploring several options at this time and enjoy the information-gathering process. Thanks for the ideas.

This is a pleasure to see so many people having similar thought abt materialistic possession and understand the true importance of building bonds with family and enjoying a happy and comfortable life. Generally, people misinterpret "luxury" to be "comfort" and "being rich" to be "being happy". Cheers mate, I am actually impressed by how you built your career from your interest and my whole Monday Night went into binge watch your channel videos.
