Incredible Riverside Dispersed Camping Near Seattle!

This weekend we set out on a mission to scout for dispersed campsites not far from Seattle, in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
What we found was an area containing DOZENS of spectacular dispersed campsites along the Cle Elum river and adjacent creeks and streams.
Come along for our adventure and see what we found!

That is one of my favorite areas to go in the warmer seasons into the fall. I go away from the river into the high country where there's no people. Good thing you didn't try going any further up because that goes to the infamous Fortunate Creek 4X4 trail and your car would have been ripped to shreds. My lifted F-150 barely made it all the way up there, it was extremely sketchy. Where you were filming was the easy part 😅. But, it's amazing and the views are great. Best of all... No people (typically). The lake up there also has great fishing.

Wow! I've never seen that area that empty before! We usually hit it in January/Feb and again July/August. Judging by the river flow, snow remnants and pristinely graded road, I'm going to guess May but it could be a month either side of that Put Gallagher Head Lake on your ToDo List. I'd start with the Forest Road and consider the Jeep trail on a future trip. There's really just one crux point and your TLC should do fine. Scoring a campsite on the lake is hard but fantastic. To my surprise, we only had to share it with a backpacker on the other side of the lake when we went there one summer. Playing around Colockum and the Liberty area is nice too.
