Incredible N Scale Model Railroad of Chicago - LAYOUT TOUR

Фильм және анимация

Thanks for watching! Here we take a look at the Elmhurst Model Railroad Club's N Scale layout, which is loosely based on the Chicagoland area (emrrc.net). If you want to check out the HO Layout, I have an older video of it here: • MASSIVE HO Train Layou... . More videos to come on other great layouts in the area!
Lastly, feel free to check out Lombard Hobbies here: lombardhobby.com/
As always, thanks for watching!!

Chicago ILL Ah yes Home sweet Home. Walking to the Depot Watching And Feeling the Trains Fly Past Me and Listening to the sounds of The Trains. Then Dad Brings Home a 4x8 in the back of the Pick up And then The Train Bug hits. Now I am Consummed And I love Every Second of it. Wouldn’t Trade for Anything.

Have ordered from Lombard's many times, but their standard shipping is a little high so I need to make sure my orders justify it. I visited Spring Creek Hobbies last summer in Nebraska and was totally amazed. It has to be the biggest most well stocked shop in the US.

Thank you for all who have worked on building these outstanding model railroads.

I have just bought my first purchases from Lombard. I was very impressed with the discount prices offered too. Given that I am 8842 miles away in Queensland Australia I'm very impressed with the service and the fast turn around and shipping. I will certainly be buying more from Lombard as I start building up my layout (which is still in the planning stages).

Since you’re in the Chicago area Josh you should check out a train club in Lombard called Prairie Scale. I forget their address because it’s been along time since I’ve been there since I moved to South Carolina but I used to live in Villa Park Illinois so I’m totally familiar with all the clubs and good train watching places. Another great place to watch trains in a town called Rochelle Illinois it’s where the UP mainline and the BNSF cross at a diamond and they even had built a railroad park there with a platform in a pavilion so you can sit at picnic tables and enjoy the train watching. It’s about 68 miles from Villa Park to Rochelle so if you decide to check that out it’s definitely worth the visit.

Nice to see the South Suburbs of Chicago represented. I grew up in Burbank, and now I live in Buford, Georgia. That's right--"Buford." I went to the Great Midwest Train Show in Wheaton and bought an affordable beginner's layout that just happened to be N-scale. I had to have it because it included a Santa Fe Yellowbonnet. On the way home I took a closer look at the box and realized that the track was a six foot figure eight . . .

About 4 years ago I did take my son to the Elmhurst model RR club and was amazed at the HO scale they had there but I didn’t see or recall an N scale layout unless this is something new??? Im in Naperville and Elmhurst is just a short ride for me, I’m definitely going to see this.

I have not seen anything like that in our country. I would not even know where to look first, as it is with small children. I have to bust my ass here to get American rolling stock. Earlier I thought, oh the Yanks, what do they have " ..... Since I've been involved with it (Norfolk Southern, by the way), I think you guys are a lot further along than we are here. My opinion. If you are still in the Chicago area, contact the Dupage division of the NMRA and see if you could get a hold of Fred Henize. At one point in the late 1980s, his Apple Valley system was the was the 3rd or 4th largest N Scale layout in the in the country. He taught horticulture at Wilco area vocational center at the time my dad was teaching electronics - There are a few interesting stories about old DC power pack based sound systems built from a kit, and a few optical crossing gate anti bounce circuits.

I have seen a hundred layouts but I don't believe I have ever seen one simulating fire. Something should be burning. Like a barrel with a couple ho's handing out by it? Can you spray paint on some plywood over a store front window? That's realism. Glad I could help! Great layout!
