Many years ago now when I worked for Intefor at the 3W site in BC, they had an older Linck line system . The company had upped the speed of the line for more production , but that also brought up the repairs/maintenance , so it turned into a very high maintenance breakdown system . It was designed for a slow walking pace , but Intefor had upped the speed to almost a jog to follow the cant through the line . The Linck system was /is very expensive to purchase compared to many other types of system, probably because it is from Germany and high duties are set . The Linck system worked pretty well with pretty good recovery, but it was high maintenance . I spent many hours working on the line in the years I was there . Many of the components are modules and the repairs were re & re the component and break down the module during the week to do the specific repair or complete rebuild of the module .
the lumber mill segment was basically a commercial for the equipment but it was still really impresive.
The engineering represented in these factories is INSANE!!

Those multi-saws are just insane. And the auto-stacker. Wow. I am surprised they don't have more machines making the final drums though.

I was amazed at how wasteful the drum wheels are. A bit of sophistication for the outer boards would save huge amounts of timber. As in why are the outer boards the same length as the centre boards?
It is a testament to human ingenuity but it's amazing there are any forests left anywhere in the world when machines like this.
Lots of sophisticated automation in that factory, nice watch.
I work in telecommunications, I and see these wooded cable drums all the time, now I can finally visualise them being made, very cool.

Amazing! I could not stop watching the entire process! Thanks for sharing!
Fabulous plant and a remarkable technology .... that's why the sawmills are less and less!
Good job ✊

!!!! Que pasada de fabrica esta casi todo automatizado !!!!!😮😮 vaya monstruo de fabrica
Thank you for this informative and interesting video on how a Modern Lumber Mill processes logs into lumber, quite impressed.
The work of engineers accumulates for all future generations.
The automation of the wood industry is just amazing. Thank you
I’ve been to and seen many mills. Which was interesting Came to watch the plywood making in the thumbnail photo
Interesting how the machinery in the beginning is so sophisticated and the equipment in the reel factory was all old and low tech.

Most of the machinery in the first video is simply to move high volumes of material from one process to the next. The smaller quantities of raw materials are moved around by hand and gravity, at least there seems to be human input in the finished product, even though they don't look particularly happy about it.
the design, engineering & programming minds behind all this just boggles my mind! WOW!

What A Nice Modern Technology!!! ...It Is Amazing Technology....... BUDHWAR.....04//01//2023......
👍🏭🪵The level of automation in this wood processor factory is truly impressive. The multi-saws and auto-stacker are amazing to watch in action. However, I also noticed that the final drums seem to be made mostly by hand. I wonder if there's a reason why they haven't implemented more machines to make the drums. Maybe there's something about the shape or size of the drums that makes them difficult to automate? It would be interesting to know more about the production process and the choices behind it. Overall, this is a fascinating look at modern manufacturing.

A mí me sorprende también, pero el hecho de que existiendo el plástico, mueran tantos árboles, además que consumo de energía, por unos conos tan simples.
Thank you David Gardner for educated me, I didn't know that, but still have a question; does we protect our forest or our we the source of destruction?
